He treated the janitor the same way. I can only imagine the number of people he has touched in a positive way in his life. I never forgot how he treated me, a 17 year old kid who didn't even go to his school.

Quick story about Coach DD. We were at a camp some 10 years ago. We were walking back from lunch. Coach Wimmer of Fishers, had a meeting w/ his offensive skill players. Coach DD and I stopped to listen. As we continued to walk, he began telling me Wimmer's excellence w/ TE play. Really breaking it down. All I can tell you is, after that 5 minute conversation, I was ready to pad up and run through a wall for that guy.

You might as well submit it all. If you don't give it to us, someone else will. We should share all film. IF you don't share it all, there are ways to get it all. Someone always owes someone else a favor or has a connection. I don't think we had any less then 6 films of any opponent we played in the playoffs. Share it all, Endzone and sideline. May the team that prepares the best win!!!

This right here. There have been very few times when we haven't been able to get a film we want. Rivals of the team you're preparing for are also usually happy to give whatever they have. 😉

The football fans that don't understand how certain styles of play don't fit into certain scenarios/situations baffles me. Throwing the football is one of the most difficult things in sports. Many spend Monday's arguing how the QB of their favorite NFL team sucks but then then sit in the stands on a Friday night yelling "throw the ball!" High School football in most communities involves kids that play other sports, you get 6-9 hours of practice time with these kids a week (not 22 like the college game). So unless your going to monopolize the time of a lot of kids outside of the fall (remember their is a lot of skill involved in pass protection too, think of what NFL tackles get paid) throwing the football consistently at the HS level becomes a tall task. A lot of the schools that are utilizing a run heavy offense are trying to narrow the talent gap between them and their opponent. Army, Navy, and Air Force have long been competitive running the Triple Option with what amounts to D2 and D3 talent at the D1 level. If those teams lined up in the spread it would get really ugly for them very quickly. When they do what they do we've seen them win big games (Navy vs ND) and push other D1 schools to the brink (Army vs Oklahoma, Army vs Michigan). Yet we often see the fan in the stands at schools that are trying to use the precision and aggression of their ground and pound offense to win a similar way that the academies do, yelling to throw the ball and then posting on sites like this about how "dumb" or "unimaginative" the offense is. They have no idea how wide the gap would be in those games if that running team were to try to jump into a 4 or 5 wide shotgun formation. If you can get past all that, and you still want to throw the ball, have fun finding a coaching staff in 2021 to coach everything that you need to with the deep understanding that it takes to be elite in the spread. You need a Qb Coach, a RB coach, OL Coach, TE Coach, Receivers Coach, and that is at minimum. AND they all need to have a deep understanding of how all the parts fit together (while working their 9-5 jobs or teaching their classes). In the Straight T you can function with an OL coach (better with 2), TE Coach, and Backfield Coach. Really limits the number of people you need to have that really know whats going on. Does throwing the football have a place in HS football? Absolutely. BUT the situation has to be right for it to go well. I suppose we will never open the eyes of some Monday morning Qbs, but all that know enough, know exactly what coaches like Coach Sharpe are attempting to accomplish offensively.

I would love to see all HNAC teams submit to a pool. Only sideline no end zone. I’d also like to see schools using a competent camera person and camera. These tablet uploads we get are terrible.

To be fair, Valpo did hand it to the Cougars in 1999.............34-6. Also to be fair, that was only the second year of the young St. Francis football program. By year three, coach Kevin Donley had them competing on a national level.

Our head coach and Dullaghan were NOT friends at all. We were only ranked 3rd or 4th going into that game.....the ONLY time I ever heard Coach Stauffer come close to swearing.......we are going to prove to everyone we are the best damn team in the State. Final score was WC 61 BD 8.....and we did not let up.

I was a student at IUPUI, and he was a guest speaker in one of my classes. He could have gone on for hours. It was a great class. He did mention that when he met with the Principal, AD and Superintendent, they asked what he needed. He said we need to go visit Chuck Stephens at Franklin Central. They had recently been a State champion 3 years in a row. They looked at the weight room, and saw that he was actually teaching a class and DD looked at his administrators and said THAT is what we need. They did not even blink and said done. The rest is history. And his fee for that day? A large bag of popcorn from the concession stand at the Natatorium. To this day, he goes out of his way to say hello, and ask how I am doing....and I was a senior at WC his first year and BD. I can only imagine how well he treats people he likes. 😃

Used to love this day, take a day off from school and watch and read about new commitments. Now with the early signing period feels like this day isn't what it used to be or maybe it's just me. I'm a Notre Dame fan and they have really taken advantage of the early period, signing most of their guys in Dec and only a few in Feb. The rb they're supposed to announce today (Logan Duggs) is supposedly having 2nd thoughts and wants to remain home and play for LSU. As a fan, or coach, what does everyone feel about the 2 different signing periods? **Side note** So so happy NCAA football series is coming back! I've forgotten more about football than you will ever learn. My mentor has 9 rings, but I'm sure your mentor can match that accomplishment. My comment was not about me. You are all about you and your inflated opinion of yourself. I tried to give examples of why some programs are successful and some struggle. Apparently when someone tries to get into a discussion with you, all we get is "this or that blows". One might think that you are either a student or just the perfect example of someone who stands at the fence and knows it all without ever actually doing anything. Sound about right?

Ok...so that MAY account for HALF the schedule. And your original point, as weak as it was, was based on qualifying for the playoffs. That ended prior to the 1985 season. Add to that they were put in a cluster in 1983 and 1984....not really under their control what cluster they were in. AND, My focus was the OUT of conference schedule. Probably should have quit while you were behind though.

I would guess BigBH stands for either blowhard or butthead. Really, what's the difference? I have coached at both Westfield and Noblesville middle schools. Westfield has a system in place that everyone from pee wees to varsity run and the HS coaches attend practices to help with installs. Westfield runs a spread formation and is an inside/outside zone team. All of the players know the terminology and formations because they are drilled in them from the time they start playing football. I was at Noblesville when Justin Roden was the HC. I saw a HS coach at one of our practices twice and never saw them at a game. I just don't feel he had any plans to be a long-term coach for the Millers. I had to give up coaching due to work and have not had the opportunity to see Coach Sharpe's approach. I do know we had good kids at Noblesville and with 2 middle schools they do have the opportunity to create some depth and competition for spots in high school. The year I coached we competed with the middle schools from HSE, Westfield and Carmel and did quite well. Whether the new staff is able to put it all together remains to be seen. When you talk about offenses and the need to spread the field and run the ball, I think of Center Grove. They are a wing-T team competing at the highest level of high school football in Indiana. They have had the athletes recently to open it up a little, but they would never be considered a spread and throw kind of team. They also have a program that is run the same from top to bottom. The Millers can be successful, but it is going to take time, and patience.

I think what he is trying to say (and I could be wrong) is that folks (whomever that may be in his mind) in central Indiana have a shorter leash when it comes to losing coaches/programs. What he really SHOULD be saying is that Noblesville has such a steep hill to climb that they could improve and few would notice and they would still finish in the bottom half of the HCC, therefore we need to give the new coaching staff time. Pre Sharpe: Blown out by all Year 1-2 of Sharpe: lose competitively Year 3 of Sharpe: upset a couple teams you shouldn’t Years 4+: compete with the top of the conference My opinion solely. I don’t think you can fairly asses a coaching staff in less than 4 years at the high school level.

I have stated this a few times since last summer, but with how interrupted the global pandemic had in this state, the verdicts need to be held out for any and all the 1st year HC at new schools. They were up against it, trying to get their system in place via Zoom calls, is not ideal, they were behind the preverbial 8 ball and for some schools still are. Give Coach Sharpe some time with his system requires time and patience to get the timing down to run the Straight T, assuming that is what he is doing.

No you need to throw away his offensive philosophy....let me repeat he was losing by 28 in the second half and still going with no receiver sets....and then on long yardage he put one guy out....watch the tape Avon took that pass back for an 80 yard touchdown. interception

The fun is gone.....I looked up the season passing stats from this past season....23/52, 353 yards and 2 TD................I know the Brownsburg QB transferred from Noblesville a few years ago, but to compete in the HCC he needs to assemble a much better air attack. Again when you line up with no receiver sets its pretty obvious what they are doing.

Since I have kid that played against Noblesville a few months ago I am confident saying without question the worst offensive system I have seen since the 80's...not sure if the coach is as horrible as I think or they simply don't have the athletes, but the majority of the game they lined up with zero wide receivers and on occasion split one kid out and actually tried to throw to him. I think one big poster here has honked the Noblesville coach and a big turnaround but sorry he needs to hire a new O coordinator or get out of the passing happy HCC......they were down 28 and still ground and pound....horrible!!!
