There are also tremendous opportunities for advancement for women, potentially a faster track than their male counterparts, as officiating gets more diverse. It’s not so much how you get the opportunity. It’s what you do with it.

My last season at Bosse we had a female official begin doing games in Evansville. She did a great job, and hopefully will be holding the door so to speak for more women in the future. I actually believe 5that there is some great benefit to not having played the game as an official. So long as you do your homework, it removes some of the bias that exists with those who have played.

Heard on the radio this morning (ESPN 1000 Kap and Hoodie) that Mahomes ran for like 490 yards backwards, side to side, or just evading the pass rush. It seemed, in the 4th qtr. especially, every time he dropped back to pass he spun, went backwards, and then tried moving to the side.

Yep. I think Leftwich's best plan would be to stay w Arians as long as he can. Arians reminds me a lot of Phil Jackson. Is a quality coach that hires good assistants and can manage many different divas.

Chiefs missing All Pro LT was a major issue

While there probably are parts of the state where football is the biggest interest and draw, Indiana is still known for basketball. Outside the state, basketball is definitely one of the first things that comes to mind when people think of Indiana. Much like Texas and football, it's one of few states that has a sports identity like that.

They have classes, but the last few years the success have pieces for a few classes the last few years that have made them successful. They will lose 10 seniors. 6 or 7 that played a lot (1 that would have, but was injured early in the year). They played a lot of Sophomores last year and a couple of Freshman. The Coaching Staff has done a really good job getting kids to buy in and they do a really good job of preparing the kids and adjusting their plans with the talent they have. They have been in 3A in the past, but as XStar mentioned, they have ran into some really good teams during the tournament. The Sagamore Conference is a 2A-4A conference/schedule. They have some talent returning, but they have some talent that graduates (as has been the case for the last few years). As for Coach Pelley, I think he has probably had opportunities the last few years to move on if he wanted to. His Staff is pretty much all former Webo players (with the exception of himself, his Dad, and the Strength & Conditioning Coach). He is involved in the youth program more than just a figure that shows up every once in a while. The kids learn a base of the offensive plays in youth and that continues to build into Jr. High. I think there is something special about the community and what has occured the last several years. Parents, kids, local businesses, community support have all bought in. You have Dads that were former players (and former youth coaches) and their kids are in HS (or already graduated) coming back into the youth program to coach/teach kids because they want the program to continue to succeed. Players that don't just show up on Saturday mornings after their film/workouts to watch the younger kids, but will come out to practices and help out.... They come out on Saturdays and watch and high five the kids... That encourage the kids. None of that is mandated or forced upon them by the Staff. The kids understand the position they are in... They understand these kids watch them every Friday night and the kids love it when those "Friday Night Stars" come watch them. Many 15-18 year old kids would struggle with that kind of responsibility. It really is a family type atmosphere.

I would guess rural communities in the hills of Southern Indiana where they still wax poetic about Bobby and Damon. Personally, I have felt for a while that baseball is king in NWI. I could see football and even baseball being bigger deals in Hamilton County over basketball. I would say basketball is king in Marion County. Football in Allen County. I would imagine the large field houses in urban areas that have allowed Indiana kids to play baseball and football year round has probably hurt basketball.

Then why post it like that? How about assuming the good in people and giving them a shot to answer your question instead of assuming they are bad and will derail the topic? Man, some people in 2020/21...

There may be a few communities where basketball gets the support, but one thing we learned from this football season; football drives the budgets of many more schools, AND the budget of the IHSAA. The IHSAA could afford to cut off the basketball tournament last season, BUT the football season had to happen, or there would have been a high number of schools in trouble financially. Even though crowds were limited at football games, they still drive the budget. So, while the sentimental game may be basketball, the one that pays the bills is football.
