How does Coach Hebert pronounce his last name? I've always assumed it is pronounced "Aye-bear" like any good Cajun. I also assume he speaks with a thick southern Louisiana accent, like the guys on the swamp people show.

I have it on very good authority they make somewhere around six figures per home game in the MIC. Personally, I'd split my six figures as follows: Two brats, one burger, one popcorn, one Skittles, and one Dr. Pepper. Depending on who you know with the boosters, you may be able to get a hot chocolate gratis during playoffs (but you probably have to keep that on the down low). So, seven figures occasionally. On the down side, away game rates are not quite so friendly. I hear you even have to pay for all your figures for road games.

Agreed. I feel the Evansville North Gibson Southern match-up could be a lot of fun as a rivalry.

I know this will come as a complete shock to you....SW Indiana doesn't want our need to schedule "Indy" schools. It's not our charter to help elevate the play of that part of the state. We also don't need the Indy media. We kind of have a really good "pocket" (no pun intended) of football going down here. Go talk to the Region guys...LOL.

Maybe a pipe dream, but Blitz would LOVE to see a one-day, shootout-style football event in Fort Wayne on a Saturday in Week 1 or 2. Some of the matchups you all have mentioned above in this thread. Put several of em in one day. Three, four or even five. Similar to what TRC has done in the past at Ball St. but non-conference games. A Carroll or Homestead could host. Or you have it at a Saint Francis or Trine. Games at noon, 2:30, 5 and 7:30. One fee gets you in all day. Bring out food trucks. Concession stands will make bank. Again, maybe a long shot...

I'm just a local yokel from podunk southwestern Indiana (and a tranplant from Illinois, at that), so forgive my geographical ignorance for anywheres beyond the dirt road between my tobacco drying barn and Wal-Mart, but I thought Columbus North was located in Columbus, Indiana? Is that the same as Indianapolis, Indiana? I get confused any time I have to travel past the big oak tree that old man Jones planted back in 86 just off the Big Road. How much do they make? You assume that the programs pay for that service? You'd have to contact the programs directly. To my knowledge, it's most typically a volunteer/student manager/student from a broadcast program who shoots game video and things...don't quote me on that though.

I think if the SIAC couldve added Gibson Southern and boonville in the expansion, the football schedule would've benefitted from an east/west division instead of big small. West-MD, Reitz, Central, Lincoln, Gibson Southern, North East- Castle, Memorial, Jasper, Boonville, Bosse, Harrison 5 games in your division, 2 rotating crossover games, 1 out of conference game, 1 championship week. I'm not convinced the championship week is necessary, and without it, the schools could schedule two out of conference games.

Not bad. I like it. All would be very good matchups. I do think the "big dogs" need to reserve at least one of their games for an Indy foe. For the other foe, definitely someone in that Lafayette, Warsaw/Valpo, South Bend, or Region area. I kind of chucked at the "next two big dogs." I would compromise at "other," but "next" is unacceptable 🙂 Valid. Is was really just a two year home/home. The visitor won both games. The other happened by chance, the state championship.

Just for fun, take a look at this. It was submitted to the SIAC ADs a few years ago. I created it when the news began to float around about Mt. Carmel. I sent it to my AD and suggested that the conference get out ahead of the inevitable changes that have since happened. Did not go over really well. I do believe that it could have worked though. I still do. Allows for protection of traditional rivalries, crossover games, and a championship week that only has limited potential to create a tournament rematch. With the way the PAC is now structured, there is zero chance that a change like this happens without someone leaving unexpectedly. BTW @Titan32, Columbus might be out of your Indy Metro scope, but I'd bet Southport is not. There is a need to schedule outside of the "Pocket" that is southwest Indiana. It serves the programs well, in multiple sports, that have had the foresight to leave this bubble and challenge themselves. It does not have to be Indy, but scheduling outside opponents and taking the kids on the road is always a positive.

It's my understanding that there are a few coaches in the Wabash River conference that negotiate their contracts separate from the union. I don't think they're covered under the regular teacher contract. I would be interested in knowing this as well, in addition to what rigs the MIC teams are all using
