  1. i know there is still the summer and plenty of competition for the starting spot but I feel like we all know who is going to be under center for Gibson Southern this year lol. even if there was some freshman transfer from out of state I think we all got to see the future starter take plenty of Varsity reps during running clocks last year. maybe I’m wrong though and I’m sure Coach Hart is going to have plenty of competition across all the available starting spots to have the best kid win…..but QB seems like it’s pretty much locked up imo

  2. VL decides to stay in the SIAC after the PAC says...thanks...but no thanks. https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/03/11/vincennes-lincoln-remains-southern-indiana-athletic-conference/6994885001/

  3. EC already plays Moeller, Roncalli, and Guerin during the regular season. If they add Chatard and Brebeuf they will get a free set of steak knives and a plenary indulgence from the Vatican.

  5. You don't want those involved in the games involved in any form of gambling. It's a bad look and gets them potentially into some bad situations. Let's say Ridley loses $1500 on these games. He tries to get it back and loses $5000 the next time. And it grows. Suddenly he owes someone a lot of money. He could get pressured to do something in one of his games to settle his debts. The best way to avoid that is to ban gambling by the partipicants entirely. I know from an officiating standpoint the B1G is so opposed to gambling officials are not allowed to do any kind of gambling. This includes basketball pools and fantasy sports. I believe NFL officials are not allowed in a casino at any point during the season even if they aren't gambling. Violating any of those would result in immediate dismissal from the staff. I would imagine players and coaches are under even more scrutiny.

  6. Lol. Closed conference makes me zero difference. Zero interest in finding non-conference games. Memorial has played siac teams in non conference games before adding Jasper and VL. Believe it or not, EM had trouble getting good teams to schedule them in week 2. Nobody likes getting beat by a 3A Catholic team non conference. Only change is Memorial added VL and it counts. Jasper is still week 1 and has been for years. I’m good!! I would have enjoyed going to GS, if VL didn’t get back in. Try to extend that win streak in our home away from home to 4 games. 😜

  7. If I'm looking at the right map, Charlestown is missing here and they would have to go in 31 I think. That would probably push Franklin County into 30. At least that's what I ended up with.

  8. 5A South is really 8 groups of 2 teams. Just gotta figure out what groups match up with whom. Harrison (WL) and McCutcheon Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South Plainfield and Decatur Central Franklin and Whiteland Bloomington North and Bloomington South Columbus East and Seymour Floyd Central and New Albany Evansville North and Castle

  10. Congrats to the Hoosiers for all but sealing at least an at-large bid in the big dance with a 65-63 win over Illinois.

  12. Was really looking forward to the potential SIAC-PAC matchups if VL left. I guess it could still happen in the near future though.

  14. Well….in my 5 paragraph, since deleted, alcohol-driven novelette I addressed those points. In summary, EC needs more competition. They have CLEARLY outgrown the EIAC by almost every measurable. No Cincy conference is likely to offer (you mentioned that). The Circle City only has 4 football and 6(?) schools in total - so really not that much travel…plus a Helluva lot more equivalent competition for EC. Finally, you can still play any and all the familiar local punching bags (Lawrenceburg excluded as regards being a punching bag) if you want….they still need to fill their schedules too. But, overall it would provide the level of overall conference competition EC is sadly lacking with only a couple of 90 minute drives (on average) annually per sport.

  15. Granson is the other TE. The Colts still have time to find those starters in free agency and the draft, although I doubt that Ballard will sign a top FA, to a multi year deal, at either of those positions given his track record.

  17. https://www.skynews.com.au/world-news/united-states/kamala-harris-becoming-president-would-be-a-tragedy/video/f1424332d5208555867e048f0febb103 Former press secretary to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Iuliia Mendel, has criticised Kamala Harris for laughing following a question about Ukrainian refugees. In a now deleted Tweet, Ms Mendel wrote “it would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidency.” Yes, Ms. Mendel, there are a lot of us in the US that feel the same way. BUT - at least there are no mean tweets......

  18. Yes...while Darius Leonard, Quentin Nelson and other Colts seemed to get a pretty free pass. They received nothing close to the wrath Wentz received.

  19. The Seahawks went 7-10 and then traded Mr. Wilson. Has anybody here ever heard or read about the lack of his leadership capabilities? And he didn't get vaccinated, which made him public enemy number one with the media. Like Mr. Doyel at the Indy Star.

  20. Here are some stats for you. According to Pro Football Reference, Wentz had ZERO game winning drives or 4th quarter comebacks last season. He was also ranked 26th out of 31 QBs in on target percentage, and 25th in bad throw percentage. 18.8% of his passes were bad throws. Zach Wilson was the worst in the league at 23.8%, while Joe Burrow was the best at 10.7%. I'm really not sure what religion has to do with being either a good football player or a good QB. It must be important to you though. I was in the camp that Wentz was playing well, due to his TD/INT ratio, but after digging deeper I realized that the ratio doesn't tell the entire story.

  24. Any day that starts with some Latin is going to be a good one. Fot the uninitiated, res ipsa loquitur is a Latin phrase used in law. It means “the thing speaks for itself.”

  25. Over 3,500 yards passing. 27 TDs/7 ints. on a run first team offense. Yeah, he was the problem. Man you all are clueless. AND he stood up for his personal beliefs.

  26. Ahhh. Bad info. A frosh isn't really a transfer, right? BTW, I meant nothing negative with the post at all. I think any HS athlete should be able to transfer whenever and wherever they want. Nobody makes the speech, band or German club kid sit out a year if they transfer. All three of our primary RBs graduated. We have a transfer from Central, who came to them from Westfield, but last I heard Central was not releasing him. I hear we also have a transfer from Mater Dei. I suspect nobody on the GID will care about that one. Transfer portal, school choice, I guess you can call it whatever you want, but why shouldn't a kid be able to attend whatever school he or she wants and fully participate in all extra-curricular activities that help them become well-rounded young adults? Ouch. That has to sting. I wonder if they will try to come back to the SIAC?

  27. Don’t forget about the QB that hasn’t lost a game to a conference opponent the last 4 years

  28. Probably the easiest thing to do is go to Harrell's page and see the schools that *do* and then cross-reference that with the IHSAA directory. There are 316 football-playing schools and 407 IHSAA members.

  29. I know the feeling. Mater Dei will be 2A - but traditionally Pike Central has also been 3A, so that would be an even switch in Sec 32 after the numbers come out. Maybe that saves you some time!

  32. Actually he has DE...... He's proven that he cannot unseat a 39 year old QB that the Pack re-upped for 4 years for a very, very high price. That tells me plenty about Love. The Pack are not ready to hand him the key to the car. Farve was pushed out when Rogers was ready....same is not happening now.

  33. It won't happen because Anderson is terrible, but in the scenario above (and what I'm pretty confident will happen) how wild would it be if Anderson was the 5A NORTH representative while Harrison (WL) was the 5A SOUTH representative.

  35. I thought teams won games? You've got more flip-flops than the Orlando airport gift shop. It all makes sense now. Coaches who can't decide how games are won can never cut it on the sideline.
