Did ESPN really refer to Friday night's games as Friday Night Lights? It's bad enough that they are even playing on Friday nights, therefore competing with high schools for attendance. Now referring to their games as Friday Night Lights? It's one thing for the NCAA to be greedy, but not at the expense of high school football.2 points

You seem to continue to like Westfield. I have them dead even with Carroll. I think the Rocks are a bit too high. I'm also swapping Carmel and Cathedral.2 points

After observing Purdue and IU, my impression is that both of them would be a threat to compete for a MAC title.2 points

It's beginning to look like a purple team on the Westside of Indianapolis might be making some noise before this thing is over again. Cautiously optimistic here. Ben Davis is only allowing 11.3 ppg. We know the offense is potent. We'll see this upcoming week where they measure up against the defending champs.2 points

Frankfort is finally to the point of no return. I don’t see this getting turned around anytime soon. Honestly, it’s not fun for anyone on either side. Scores from this week. Jr.High 72-0. JV. 52-0. Varsity 55-6. It’s a difficult conversation to have, but shutting this down needs to be discussed. Another option would be to not have all-in conference schedule. Scheduling might allow them some relief and a chance to gain some momentum. I feel bad for the kids in the program. It’s a tough situation.1 point

Great game, both teams had several chances. 2 very impressive coaching staff's. I hope the young man from Northridge is okay.1 point

Well aware, sir. Just tagged along on your prediction and confirmed a good game at RP vs FC.1 point

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Last night it seemed to go in reverse. I was in a very dark place after the MD loss, but IU came back and won their pillow fight of a game against a fellow big ten bottom feeder so I perked back up to end the night. Nice win VL, you made the wildcat defense look like they were playing checkers while you were playing chess for a lot of the night. Good luck the rest of the way.1 point

The RP/FC game was hard fought between the two teams. Both teams played hard and a late score by RP sealed the game. I can confirm that up 6 with 3:00 to go and the ball, RP did have their starters in the game.1 point

The 2 key drives by the Alices came at the end of each half. VL went 70+ yds to kick a FG to go up 10 - 7 just before halftime. Then, after MD put it in the end zone to take the lead with just over 2 mins to go in the game, VL took it 80 yds in just over a min to take the lead 31 - 28 with 56 seconds to go. Give due praise to VL offense & Hunt. That young man is a special player and gave MD defense fits all night. Congrats to Alices on a well-earned W.1 point

Was wanting a better game than the last two, and got that. Penn gave up 3 huge pass plays that all resulted in Cathedral TD’s. The one with 5 seconds before halftime was a killer. Thought Penn’s front 7 on defense played well most of the game, the secondary not so much. Penn is not there yet(Indiana EliteTeams) but hopefully heading in that direction.1 point

38-20, 35-21, not bad. 6A football is better when Penn is a player. This was a big step forward.1 point

Can’t take credit for this one. I thought they’d close the gap and have a respectable loss. Didn’t think they’d pull it off in 2022. Anyone check out the watering holes/obituaries in Lake County for Parkhurst?1 point

To me the right decision. Yeah they didn't complete the 2 point play. With tired players try to make a play. Came up a little short, but just go for it! Trinity much improved from last season. CG looks to be solid will be different in week 9 or 10 than now.1 point

Mercy rule in place toward the beginning of the second period. Apparently they were able to throw and run at will. No points in the second half. Kudos for calling off the dogs.1 point

Talked to a guy that was there, he said JC just needs about 4-5 more guys to get people off the field. Too many guys playing both ways. JC also ran into the same situation many mediocre teams do against NA, NA just out athleted them. Perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel for the Panthers, I worked there twice last week and they scored 3 W’s in the games I worked. Beat Seymour in 7th and 8th on Tuesday night, and beat Batesville in a C game on Thursday. Don’t have a clue on any of the scores, hell I’m doing good to just remember who was playing by the time I get home. Understand I’m an official and I really could give two shits who wins or loses any game, I’m not going to lie, it put a smile on my face to see the Panthers have a little success. The kids seemed genuinely excited in the MS games. Good for them, I don’t think we can label this as JC’s turn around, but when you have a tradition and culture of losing, and you’re trying to change that you have to focus on little battles and little wins that you build into bigger battles and wins.1 point

Observations: Castle did what they expected to do and beat Bosse by a lot. Eyeing a 3-1 start is a great start for the Knights North’s rushing attack looked pretty well tonight against Harrison. However, it did look like Harrison eventually did cut it down to 2 scores in the 4Q, but the Huskies solidified it with a late score to win the game. Can’t wait for Reitz/North, should be a great game! Note of the week, Memorial finally found the EZ in their game against Central tonight. Rodes made a massive debut tonight too, to finally give the Tiger’s Offense tons of light for the season. And the Defense looks to be shaping up pretty nicely these last 2 games. Memorial is definitely looking into the right direction. Central’s Javon Jackson is a speedy RB for the Bears. Time for the big games: Reitz is back. Annihilated Jasper by 27. The Panthers are roaring over on Reitz Hill. Reitz, North, next Friday night. That’s enough said for tonight. Jasper, on the other hand, needs to get some momentum going or else it’s going to be a long season. The Alices did one thing they couldn’t do last week, finish strong. Alices pull off the upset to beat #1 Mater Dei in a thriller. Look liked QB Xavier Hunt had about 300 total yards of offense against Mater Dei and a couple of TDs. It’s a party in Vincennes right now, as the Alices look hopeful. Mater Dei is going to be angry after this lost, and of course, the Catholic Bowl is coming up next week. Can’t miss that one.1 point

Well, not sure we learned too much more about the Irish this week. They were missing 5 starters (TE, DE, RB, SAM, punter). Went down 13-0 after a miserable first quarter. 5 offensive penalties on the first drive of the game and another horrible first punt of 14 yards from our 17 late in the first quarter. A fortuitous interception by Will McCormick sparked the defense into a virtual shutout from the 2nd quarter on. Danny O'Neill got going with Jaron Tibbs and then a score on a last second 1st half bomb to Zach Meeks as time expired to go up 14-13. Irish tacked on 3 more O'Neill TDs including a beautiful fly pattern bomb down the left sideline to Jaron Tibbs on the first play of the 2nd half. Dagger. A very loose start (perhaps a first loss hangover to BBurg) turned into a pretty convincing win with a great second half. Chatard week is upon us. Hope the J/V north side Catholics are ready.1 point

VL watches their team knock off the number one team in the state AND they get to hear about those dirty krauts from Jasper getting whipped. The maternity wards in Vincennes are going to be busy in about 9 months.1 point

I had my first int.grounding call last week, gun, snap over the QB’s head, look out blocking scheme, QB threw the ball about 20 yards behind the LOS right into the ground 15’ in front of him. That’s a 25 yard foul AND loss of down. THAT’S HARSH!1 point

Any of the illegal forward pass fouls carry a loss of down provision, as does illegal forward handing of the ball, and illegal touching.1 point
