I have long railed against ESPN/NCAA for bringing college games to Friday nights, yea I’m looking at you IU. Now the NFL is getting in the act. I suggest you join my merry band of pirates, screw the Big10, screw IU, screw TV, dare I say it screw….the man….there I said it. Go to a local school of your choosing tonight, plop down your 6-7 bucks, spend a 20 at the concession stand and enjoy the hell out of kids who just love a game! Who’s with me? …..que patriotic music

I love Southern Indiana in general. I like going to all these towns. I especially love visiting the small town pizzerias, and restaurants and stuff like that. It's unique. Brownstown has a Pizzeria there that I love. I like what Jennings County did with their football stadium too. It's a lot better venue as well.

Good to know. Wish Joe Smith would hang it up. Looks like we will have to suffer him for the rest of the season. He was bragging about bnorths undefeated ci title during last weeks south terre haute game of all times . No Need to say more joe was great at one time but even his co commentator dave novak verbally sounds at times tired of joe when he has to correct him numerous times each game. I could go on but why bother 🙄.

I saw an item that the TH North player that went to the hospital during the South game, is okay and he had a stinger. Needless to say, that is great news and that was a scary sight to see him laying out on the field the way he did.

Seymour's HS campus is really gorgeous, imo.... and freaking huge. The plot of land itself is massive. Softball, baseball, a separate soccer stadium, tennis courts all on campus.. very pretty.

Must have got dinged up in the Ben Davis game. Heard the Irish radio broadcasters say they were told he wasn't going to play against Brownsburg and he ended up starting that Friday night, but on Saturday when they resumed play he was not in pads. Then for the St. X game he was ruled out. I also heard them say their top returning O-lineman got injured before the season started. Here is to hoping they are done with the injury bug.

Random thoughts: I am more conidant then ever that this is Brownsburg's year to finally win the 6A Title. That Sophomore QB who looks like Johnny U is good. Huge lines. Speed all over the skill positions. Great team. I'm not sold on Westfield at 2. Something just seems off with them. I would put them at 5. The defense is still solid. Zionsville's offense moved the ball on them fairly well, but Westfield didn't break. Twice they kept Zionsville out of the EZ when the Eagles had 1st and Goal from wthin the 10. Westfield's offense just isn't great. Until they get there I think 2 is too high. Noblesville just can't get out of it's way. Forever trying to get into the HCC Top 4 and they had Fishers beat. The Millers took a 14-0 lead with 5:48 left in the 4th and couldn't put the game away. Within 4 minutes they gave up a 48 yard TD pass, went 3 and out, allowed Fishers' offense to easily move 50'ish yards down field for a TD, went 3 and out again and didn't even try to go spread and throw the ball. They brought the Power T out from their own side of the field and about 1:30 left int eh game. Fishers got to within the vicinity of game winning FG. They went for the TD and threw an INT. Noblesville then proceeded to fumble on 3rd & 6 at the 2 yard line. It looked like the RB would have landed in the EZ with the ball if he held onto it. Fishers ended up kicking the winning FG. I think you're being very fair with Crown Point at 4. I too am impressed with the Merrillville beatdown. It's what I would expect from a Top 5 team. I'm just going to cringe if they're now receiving too many 1st place votes over it. Is LN the Sectional 6 favorite? Whether or not Evansville Reitz is the class of the SIAC will be determined. But, I think Memorial is a Top 25 team. Their offense is very good. And they throw a lot of looks at you. They'll go old school and run the option out of the I formation or they'll spread the field with an uptempo passing attack. Fun to watch. How would you say they compare to last year. I thought last year they were elite on the lines and LB'ers. Secondary was atrocious. WR's were decent. Goot catchers and route runners. Not much speed. Same for RB. Very good QB with the Miami (OH) bound Ehrlich.

Looking at the Top 15: Georgia, Texas and Ohio State are machines. Bama once again struggled with USF. Tide heads to Camp Randall on Saturday. Love seeing an SEC team come North. Would have been funner if they came in November, but it's still cool to see. Ole Miss and Mizzou both have scary offenses. Can Kiffin ever break through against the best of the SEC? Mizzou feels like a 10 win ceiling. Tennessee went into Charlotte and beat the crap out of NC State. I find that respectable. I also believe in Heupel who somehow morphed into a former OL. I would not be the least bit surprised to see Tennessee among the top 4 seeds. Penn State and Oregon. Penn State at least had a solid showing in Morgantown, but the Bowling Green game and Oregon's 2 games have been blah. Both teams are capable of a Top 4 seed, but neither are close to being there at this point. Miami got the complete opposite of ND out of the portal. Cam Ward is legit. Miami is way undervalued at 10. Lincoln Riley appears to have finally found a defense. That makes the Big Ten more interesting at the top as USC has an offense. Utah is the class of the Big 12 Oklahoma State and Kansas State provided a preview of what's to come in the Big 12: High scoring and close games. Typical Big 12. Oklahoma is overrated even at 15. I don't think Venables is long for Oklahoma. I think he's destined for mediocrity in the SEC.

I heard all summer long that the defense was far ahead of the offense and it looked that way today. Williams missed some throws downfied that he should have hit, but he was spot on in the short passing game when given a chance to throw, IMO. Allen dropped a TD on a nice quick throw from CW and the O-Line couldn't handle the pressure from the Titan D. The amount of QB hurry's he received had to have been high. Wouldn't be surpised to hear the C and Nate "I don't practice" Davis being the ones abused the most. And please, please, let that have been the LAST time Verdell Jones is ever sent back to return a kick. Not only did he dropped a return again, but he managed to kick the ball up field nearly 15 yards to the kickoff team. Unreal. Defense was spectacular. The pickup from Seattle practically lived in the Tennesee backfield today. Loved seeing Gervon Dexter beat 2 OL to get a sack. He worked out with the DE's over the summer. Nice to see Jalen Johnson with the game deciding INT. He was paid well in the offseason.

I'd actually find that an interesting read. Do you have an article or something? If these schools are so desperate, I find it interesting that they allow online video streaming. Especially since I've been assured by my AD that I am absolutely NOT hurting them by streaming the games.

Theoretically, Notre Dame and Michigan should make the 12 team playoff annually but in the new era of NIL I am certain both schools are not willing to play by the same rules as the SEC powers and Ohio State. I have a feeling the gap between the halves and the have nots is only going to continue to grow. Glad Michigan got its title in the last year of the four team era.

At times the D looked really good. Several 3 and outs for the game. Logansport's two offensive scores came on shorter fields and one came after a quick strike pass. With that said, both offensive scores came on fast drives which should be a red flag for a defense. LCC also gave up an early score on a blocked punt returned for a TD. Special teams for LCC were an Achilles heel Friday. Blocked punt for a returned for a TD, extra point bounced off the goal post, and FG blocked. That's a net 11 points worth of pressure taken off of the Logansport offense which help keep them hanging around longer. Yes, the regular punter was out in street clothes for the game, but that blocked punt wasn't on the punter. At least one field goal hold and one extra point hold weren't clean either. Those are going to end up costing a game later in the season if not addressed. Offense was hot and cold. To be fair, LCC was without its top receiver, but in the Ritter game that pitch-catch stat wasn't all that good downfield either. The screens, however, were quite effective ... both in the Ritter game as well as the Logansport game. Running game seemed hit and miss, but more so miss on the guard dives. Off tackle provided more success, but for some reason it wasn't utilized as much. Took LCC a couple of possessions early on in the game to finally settle down. Halftime score was 17 - 7, but likely should have been 24-7 and, but for a blocked punt, 24-0. Logansport did a nice job keeping the Knights to a single score in the second half and that lack of offensive performance put more pressure on LCC's defense. The defense was able to stiffen up and, helped by several Logansport illegal shift calls, kept an upset from happening although Loganport had the ball three different times in the last seven minutes of the game. LCC will be able to ill-afford giving teams like Andrean or Adams Central three possessions in the last 7 minutes of the game with no points to counter those possessions and survive post season. I don't know the possession clock balance, but I would guess that time of possession favored Logansport. In the past that hasn't been an issue for LCC because they've typically used a couple of minutes to score and then let the opponent burn 8 minutes before turning the ball back over to the Knights who would then take another couple of minutes to score again. When the defense spends 8 minutes on the field, the offense has got to make their two minutes on the field count to let the defense have some flexibility before they head back on the field again for another 8-minute stint. In the end, a win is a win and Logansport played a solid game. The Berries could have come out in the second half and laid an egg, but they stayed in it the whole way, even when a late-game interception made it look like the game was done. LCC stiffened up when they had to at the end to preserve the win. I'll chalk LCC's performance up to the fact that they really didn't play a Week 2 game, had their top receiver and punter out, were on the road, and were playing a scrappy 4A team. Former LCC head coach, Kevin O'Shea, and Twin Lakes visits LaRocca next week coming off a 14-7 win over Tipton. O'Shea, even though he's been gone for a while, has seen a variation of this current LCC team before, so hopefully LCC will have tightened up the offense a bit by this weekend.
