There are teams to support and bills to pay. It's (past) time to pay the bills. I try to run this site on a July 1st to June 30th fiscal year, so I'm a lot late this year. Our average monthly budget is a little over $300, plus we ran a deficit for the last two years. I have covered the shortage myself to the tune of more than $2000. I'm going to leave the target goal this year at $ 4,000. Let's see if we can achieve it this season. We have managed to run this site on crowdfunding for more than 20 years. That goes back to before crowdfunding was even a coined term. We thank you all for your donations and your passion for the sport. Once again, there is now a new Booster group available. The old group is now exposed to the ads on the site. To be placed in the Booster 2024-25 group and have the ads hidden from view until July 1, 2026, make a donation of $40 or more anytime this fiscal year, and we will manually process your donations as fast as life allows us. (And don't worry, anyone who made a donation since July 1, 2025, will be credited accordingly. Just give us time to process it.) Thank you for all your past and your continued support of the Gridiron Digest.1 point

They should have done that, but the numbers don’t quite add up. If that’s what they did, they were about a yard off.1 point

Jennings County with a low snap on the punt. The ball rolled behind the punter and he fell on it on the one inch line. One play later, the East RB runs it in for the TD. 10-0 with 11:30 left in the half.1 point

To be honest, I don’t pay that much attention to the players. I’m there to observe and evaluate the officials.1 point

Carmel has dismantled all three opponents that they have played and I firmly believe Fishers and HSE are borderline top 10 teams. Brownsburg beat a nationally ranked Spalding (MD) squad that has since lost another game and is sitting at 2-1, along with the worst Cathedral team in the past 10 years and a low tier HCC team in Franklin Central.1 point

I was trying to make a donation thru PayPal but ran into some problems with that, so I got a donation in the snail mail headed in your direction.1 point

C'mon Temp, seriously? Big difference between 5A and 6A. Snider's cracked that code one time, you think DC will do it in one year? Gimme a break. Destroying Merrillville 28-0 is far more impressive than Avon barely beating DC...........sorry. Fishers is a good football program, but they don't impress me as much as Crown Point does, especially with Buzea running the show. What has Fishers done over the last five years that CP hasn't done? They lose in the playoffs by double digits every year.................but I guess that's okay as long as you're not from the north. Losing to by 25 points do them no favors when trying to say they are better than Crown Point. I'd bet massive money that CP shows better against Carmel than a 25 point deficit. Don't debate me on this Temp, I'll crush you and Rodney at the same time :).1 point

Fun Home Opener to attend, sadly been part of that show many times and the same slow walk to the common folk of 31 st lot..... GOOD NEWS, unlike the rediculous amount of FART noises on X with 10000 online football coaches who think they understand what Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams was supposed to do every snap and every play, I will continue to sit back patiently and watch it all unfold. Zero Worries here. 9-11 wins is what I believe is in order1 point

I was on the Crown Point sideline for most of the 4th quarter. I don’t know who is a backup and who isn’t. But if that was just normal rotational players, all I can say is that they must rotate an awful lot of players.1 point

Used to not be like that. I don’t see that in basketball. So if teams are good you just kick them out of a conference? HCC didn’t let them in either.1 point

Agree. You have some small schools who try to run spread and struggle to get the snap and block it long enough... Run the Offense that caters to your team. Those old school concepts/formations can keep you in ball games when you can chew up the clock and get 3-4 yards per play.1 point

JV score from Monday; Springs Valley over Paoli 50-0. I believe Paoli had some injuries on their JV.1 point

It helped dedicating the game to Jimmy Irsay too. Lots of good football last Sunday. Hope it carries on.1 point

Well, these are teenage kids playing a game, not college or pro players, so public criticism of an individual player should be frowned upon1 point

Yeah. Go read a book. Off the top of my head I recommend "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game" or "Friday Night Lights: A Town, A Team, and a Dream." Both are superior to their movie versions.1 point

I certainly wouldn’t call it a loophole. A false start is a dead ball foul, so anything that happened after the false start is meaningless. It can’t be a turnover on downs, because they haven’t yet played 4th down. Having said that, there are a few things I don’t understand yet, and which could represent fairly significant officiating errors. They announced a false start against the offense, and a personal foul against the defense. Since a false start is a dead ball foul, the ball never became alive. So, the personal foul on the defense must have also been a dead ball foul. It appears that they offset the two fouls. However, dead ball fouls are not combined to make a double foul. They are enforced separately and in the order they occurred. In this case, they should have gone back 5 yds. for the false start, and then enforced the personal foul against the defense half the distance. It would be fourth down there. Perhaps more significantly, they put 1.5 sec. back on the clock, which was correct. But the Referee should have started the clock on his ready for play signal not on the snap. The last play ended up with the runner down inbounds and the clock running. Therefore, after the penalty was enforced the Referee should have wound the clock after marking the ball ready for play. With only 1.5 sec. on the clock, that’s a major error. Disclaimer: There’s a lot video doesn’t show, and there may be things not shown which might affect the above analysis.1 point

Plus, few can compete with these two schools in the sports other than the two you mentioned. That also includes girls sports. Maybe in track, wrestling, that's about it.1 point

Perhaps in a general sense. But I would expect a lawsuit would concentrate more on the vulnerabilities and symptoms displayed by the individual kids. You can’t treat everyone the same since different kids respond differently to heat stress.1 point

If I’m not mistaken, you are the same guy that had Pike beating CP like a mule. Well how’d that turn out?1 point

I just feel that small schools especially should look to more “old school” football concepts and formations. I think some knocks on them is the amount of time they take to develop, and they aren’t “sexy”. I feel more coaches would be interested in them if schools and parents would buy in.1 point

Ok this would make more sense lol1 point

I assumed they were talking about Tecumseh Middle School in Lafayette that feeds into Lafayette Jefferson High School1 point

Pretty proud of the job the Tiger Sports Network has done so far with our broadcasts. We took it in house this year after a few years with Indiana SRN. No charge to watch. Big numbers so far, especially for away games.1 point

Any top 25 list that does not include Merrillville has no credibility. None, Zippo. Merrillville would beat all the teams from your 16-25 and possibly 14-25.1 point

First, there is no foul in HS football called offsides. The similar rule is encroachment. It would only happen for the offense if they lined up in the neutral zone and were there at the snap. It would probably have to be pretty egregious for the wing to call it. If it's minor, they will likely get a warning first. I think I've seen it called a couple times over 20+ years so it happens but it's rare. False start is simulating action at the snap and is a different foul.1 point

Yeah people only had like two days to give their picks in week 1 before the site went down. We’re starting fresh with week 4.1 point

Because it was a 14x convicted black man killing a legal Ukrainian, white female immigrant who went on to say, “I got that white girl.” It was completely racially motivated and doesn’t fit the liberal, propaganda MSM’s brainwashing plan.1 point

While we are all feeling the euphoria of the site being up and running again, it's probably a good time for folks to remember that the site runs completely on donations. Do your part to be a site booster [donation of at least $40] and help carry the load! https://gridirondigest.net/clients/donations/1 point
