  1. It’s Navy Week. I’m sure sometime this week we’ll hear some people saying that this matchup is a relic of the past. In these days of multi-million $ playoff berths, why would ND play an opponent every year that will do nothing for their playoff chances? The short answer is that even today, with all that money at stake, some things are still more important. The back story is out there and easy to find. The short version is that Notre Dame owes the Navy a debt of honor that can never be fully repaid. So, if Notre Dame ever stops playing Navy, it will be because Navy made that choice. Notre Dame will always make its annual installment payment on that debt. As I said, there are places where honor is more important than playoff or TV money. I’m glad to be able to say Notre Dame is one of those places. There aren’t very many of them these days.

  3. LOL , I would love to see Penn drop Valpo/Mishawaka and pick up Snider/Carroll or HSE/Fishers/Westfield

  4. I may have some insight that says otherwise. He does want to play, he has done all the camps and combines and he continues to work towards his goal and now he is our all time leader in rushing yards with more to come. Sad that this young man has been not given his flowers per se....... But I guess they said the same thing about Charlie Spegal too.....

  6. Michigan 21 - Purdue 16 at Michigan. Not a good look for the maize and blue at all. Thing is, they still have a shot at the CFP. Win at Northwestern, no easy task, win at Maryland, and beat Ohio State and they got a shot… Maybe even play Indiana in the Big 10 title game

  8. Love the loyalty here. When a friend helps you out, never forget. This is arguably the best story in college football.

  9. The word “intentional “ is in the rule for a reason. The rule book definition of intentional grounding is: “A pass intentionally thrown into an area not occupied by an eligible offensive receiver, or thrown incomplete to save loss of yardage or to conserve time.” The Referee is the only official who can call intentional grounding, because he’s the only official focused on the QB. When I wore the white hat, my rule of thumb was, if there was contact on the QB, there was not going to be a flag for IG. The assumption was that the contact caused the errant pass.

  11. Personally, I think Harbaugh is a devious slime ball when it comes to winning. Probably a great person otherwise. Probably a fun guy to have a beer with. Probably gives back to the community. I'm neither here nor there on the cheating scandal, I'm just glad the SEC didn't win the championship that year. Now, the guy driving around the Indiana lake blaring the Michigan fight song donning the university flag at the back of his boat? I really wish I had a rocket launcher. Night guys, gonna put on my pajamas and go to bed. Notre Dame top, Indiana bottoms.

  13. You mean like Notre Dame forfeiting 21 games because four smart kids had tutors doing their work for them? That's a vendetta against the Irish.

  14. We could not compete with the big boys through a 9 week schedule as injuries would take their toll. Our student population is 1200, and most importantly remember our kids “earn the right to play on both sides for four quarters” - we are a little old-fashioned. Not certain who is televising but I am certainly excited for the rematch!

  15. I see an upcoming stream on the Pennant’s YouTube channel, so it looks like it will be. Best way to follow the Kingsmen from afar. The kid who does the play by play is elite; he blows the doors off the guys who have been doing the radio show for years now.

  17. I have seen first hand with my son how hard it is to get recruited by a FBS D1 school, especially now with the transfer portal. This kid is a great RB and athlete but he would be best served going to a D3, NAIA school maybe a Dayton or Butler to be on the field and play early and be a difference maker. I am sure y'all know but D3 schools have studs (from highschool) that never see the field....It is really competitive. Just my opinion....I could be wrong.

  20. So because they won AFTER they stopped cheating makes it alright? How does that even make sense? I'm allowed to steal from the grocery store for the month of November and I should get a lighter sentence in the event I get caught if I show receipts for the items I purchased in December? Of all the dumb things you've said on this website....

  21. Bruins by 1- I dont like picking the Orange and Brown for anything yet Bowen may have something magical here. They got every bounce needed to win that sectional semi final against the panthers and i have heard some rumblings that everything may not be as it seems in charger land. Northrop is loaded with transfers and those seniors are upset they let one slip away. If they watch the film of Dwenger game, they have the keys to win this one late. I know most will pick the chargers and I am an underdog here and think they can pull it out due to Bowen showing no fear, his team wont either...Well sounds good anyway! Minutemen by 10- The hype train once again comes to an end without a sectional title for year 35. Legends seem to have lost their way, still partying after losses may be a contributor or perhaps too much "look at me" culture drains the energy of a good team once adversity punches them in the mouth. D1 talent that can not win a sectional? If they dont know what do with a top nationally ranked recruit, watch some film on northrop. Give the ball to your top guys and get the eff out the way (unless you're blocking of course). Saints by 3- Speaking of getting the ball to your best playmaker, I get lulled to sleep with the Dwenger's offense wondering why they are not just kicking field goals after getting across mid field. They start slow then slowly wear down their opponents, like deaths by papercuts. East Noble may have been overlooking the Archers, they seemed to not be focused until they absolutely had to score points and win the game. South was gritty, just didnt have the bodies needed to make those plays when it counted. The knights will need to limit mistakes as Dwenger will bring out those tippman construction vehicles and attempt to grind the game out...kind of basic, almost elementary style...dare I say a CYO game? Knights by 4- CYO in november? Say less..honestly though, the knights are extrememly young and yes i know most kids have moved up by this time in the year, only worry for them is that usually once a team is put out of the playoffs after a gr8 run, they train immensely over the offseason, with the hopes of meeting and crushing that team next year. Here we are, its their chance to show that Luers (Drago) is a man, he bleeds too rock! Seriously though, i'd bet coach K sits with his dad and watches film, along with all the other great coaches that have roamed those sidelines. You dont become a playoff machine with no legendary assistance, however, machines tend to break every now and then. A fg and missed PAT declares the winner.

  22. That Michigan broke the rules is a given, based on what we know now. But the question of whether what they did gave them an unfair advantage is a legitimate one. I concede that I don’t know enough about the nuances of college football coaching and team preparation to feel qualified to answer that question. It does occur to me, however, that some people who know an awful lot about college football coaching and team preparation (cough, cough … Jim Harbaugh … cough, cough) went to a lot of time and expense for nothing if it didn’t produce a competitive advantage. I have an open mind on the subject. But common sense tells me that we should assume that the scheme produced an advantage, unless and until someone provides convincing evidence/reasoning to the contrary.

  24. Anyone who watched Caleb Williams play last year, and compared it to this season, has to notice the massive development in his game. His trajectory is right where you want it to be. If he continues to develop like that under Johnson, by the end of next season he will be considered among the League’s elite QBs. 🤞that he stays healthy.

  27. Victory lap? We beat you last year and have a significantly better team this year. I enjoy beating teams with cheating programs and arrogant fan bases. You're on a board with primarily Indiana/Purdue/Notre Dame fans, why would any one fluff the Michigan Wolverines?

  32. South Put #3 @ Riverton Parke #5 - What a show down we will have on Friday night! Two of the best teams in 1A going at it for the sectional championship. Both teams dominated their opponents (Yes, @ThePrince your mustangs). These teams are polar opposites when it comes to scheme. The Panthers want to bunch everything up and run the ball down your throats. Whereas the Eagles want to spread you out and do whatever they want. I think this game will come down to defense. I don't think South Put can stay in their 3 man front and I don't think that RP can play press man to man and blitz them the whole night. Either someone is going to prove me wrong or someone is going to have to adapt and change what they do a little bit. I'll take South Put winning 35-28 Post Season Attica - Keep improving and build off this two win season. Dean is doing some good things Covington - Hoping the numbers aren't going to continue to fall off at Covington. Wheeler has done a great job and if he can keep kids coming out Covington will be competitive soon again. Fountain Central - I'm with Donnie of this one. Time for a change for the Mustangs North Vermillion - I'm not sure next year gets much better for the Falcons. Does Crabtree stay this time? Parke Heritage - Best season for the Wolves since Moore left. I only see them getting better too. The junior high dominated the wrc from what I've heard. I've also heard a familiar face has been on those sidelines coaching the junior high. We'll see what the future holds. Riverton Parke - Rumor is that they will be better next year. Looks like they might as well make the 2026 conference banner now. Great things are happening in southern parke county but can they win the big games that count? Seeger - As long as coach Ragan is leading the program they will be in good hands. South Vermillion - Coach Miller has done some good things this year and I only see the young Wildcats getting better next year. Their QB is one of the better athletes in the conference.

  33. He'd likely be ranked higher, but you also have to wonder if he'd have the success that he has had. Not very many teams in 5A and 6A would likely do very well running a direct snap offense. I'm not taking anything away from Myles, but his career would likely look different if at a bigger program. This is why it's so hard to compare athletes across different classes.

  34. South Put @ RP - I was at the FC vs South Put game, and all I can say is that if South Put can beat a healthy Mustang squad that bad, I don’t think anyone in 1A can stop them. As expected, the first offensive drive by the Mustangs was masterfully executed by Coach King moving the ball effectively through the air and with the QB run game. Herb threw everything he had at them, and South Put didn’t even flinch. I don’t see RP being able to run the ball 50 times and have success against this defense, and their passing game hasn’t shown enough consistency to keep up. South Put looks like the clear front-runner for the state championship, and right now, I don’t see anyone slowing them down. South Put 54 – RP 12

  35. CP is going to come in very aggressive. They know just like all of us, Penn has only faced one true test and that was Mishawaka earlier this season. I expect them to come out and test our D down field early and to bring pressure against our QB on early downs to see if the O is ready for it. If Penn can with stand that we will be in good shape to compete. I just don't know if this team is ready for the punch in the mouth CP will provide them. I PRAY I AM WRONG.

  37. Holding and intentional grounding are both offensive penalties. But in this case, their effect is markedly different. If the offense holds and time runs out, the period is extended by an untimed down. But if the offense commits intentional grounding, the period is not extended even if the penalty is accepted, because the penalty for that foul includes loss of down.

  39. Plainfield was solid not great. The game went about how I thought it would go just basing off Plainfield's performance against Decatur Central and Whiteland. I just really felt like New Palestine was going to control and dominate that game. As for Cathedral at New Palestine. If Cathedral is as healthy as they can get they can make a game of it, but it will be an uphill battle and they need to play pretty well especially at Kelso Stadium. Both defenses are pretty good and equal, I will give New Pal the advantage Offensively, and Cathedral the advantage in Special Teams. Should make for a great Sectional Championship (although I would prefer to see it at a Semi-State or State game.

  40. Myles McMaughlin has to be good enough to play at a place like Ball State. I don't care how good the defenses are that he played, 11,000 yards is 11,000 yards. It's crazy that he's not listed among the top 44 recruits in Indiana on 247sports.com. https://247sports.com/season/2026-football/RecruitRankings/?InstitutionGroup=highschool&State=IN I think Myles McMaughlin has to be the favorite to win Mr. Football.

  41. Shocked they opened up as nearly 2 TD favorites. I told my dad I thought it be around 3-4 points, he bet me it’d be around 7. Lost money before the game even started lol. In all honesty, this is going to be a tough game. Penn State is still a very talented group and has nothing to lose. Forecast shows cold and rainy, going to be a rock fight and I’m sure that’s the way PSU prefers it.

  46. I've worked games where the football game was just a pre and post-band performance filler. The band attracts more fans than the football team.

  47. I always tell BOTH HC's that I will NOT start the halftime clock UNTIL they reach the locker room door!. I also tell both HC's at the pregame meeting: At at the 3 minute mark of both pregame and halftime, we will knock on their door for them to get back on the field. If for some reason they delay and do make it back in time.....well?? As for clearing the field (band/etc.) ...I've only had one occasion that I had to toss a flag. The home team AD absolutely TOLD me to do so! He had had enough of the Band Director's hijinks I guess. Turned into a 15 yarder as both teams had to navigate the band doing their 'thang' for 20+minutes of a 15 minute published halftime. Ugh.
