I congratulate (and am a little jealous of) the South Gibson school Corp. They have an administration that values the community and extra curricular aspects of the school environment. They are asking the question of HOW? as opposed to the question SHOULD? when it comes to fall schooling and athletics. Any team that has made a run deep in the playoffs have experienced ‘flu week’ when several players come down with illness. It is inevitable. I have a friend whose son (JV player at the time) was sent home at halftime on during a sectional game because he was throwing up and they didn’t want to get the rest of the team sick. I want to focus on the How do we do it as safely as possible. Require a mask for fans to sit in the stands. Spread fans out where possible. (If you want to stand in the endzones, have at it.) Handshake lines after games are probably suspended for the year. Players should be able to get in and out of locker rooms with minimal fan interaction. Those are just a few easy steps

Why, so we can act like we care about the spread of something with our kids, but go to the store and work without regulation. Kids aren't dying.. in fact unless you are really unhealthy you aren't dying either. All these college teams finding players that have it asymptomatic means nothing more than the fact its running rampant and its not as dangerous as thought before. Sweden never locked down and they have numbers like a bad flu season. All this has become so political and everyone is terrified because of sensory overwhelm with the media. Proof is in the pudding.

Absolutely. Masks and social distancing are very important. Anyone who doesn’t believe this is fooling himself. I know distancing will make the game experience much different, but we need to stay safe in all aspects, not just a few.

I think the value in terms of this forum is how there isn't any risk to the HS age kids. There is the obvious concern of them bringing it home to those more vulnerable. I still think that those who think that the only way they can get through this season is if they don't get a single case on their team through the entirety of the football season are living in a bit of a dream world. That said...I wouldn't quarantine anyone that wasn't symptomatic or didn't have prolonged exposure to someone who was either symptomatic or tested positive. I also wouldn't test the whole team every time a positive popped up. That is just me and my views don't represent the views of the South Gibson School Corporation or the coaching staff.

We won't know until next summer or fall if it has had any impact on overall mortality; about 2.8 million Americans die every year from many causes (7,600 a day, 53,000 a week, 233,000 a month) We do know it's not as deadly or communicable as advertised. We do know there is an effective treatment; (chloroquine and antibiotics being used in Turkey) We do know we've destroyed millions of lives with no convincing evidence that lives have been saved. We do know that progressive states ordered covid patients into nursing homes, and that accounted for nearly half of all deaths. I was skeptical when the pandemic began, and I'm convinced that we should all be living our lives normally. If you interact with an elderly, chronically I'll person, you should wear a mask, and protect them from this virus.

I think that Center Grove is the clear cut favorite to win 6A but I don't think they go Undefeated in the MIC.LN will be much improved this year and so will BD. Pike will not be the bottom of the league this year but close. I have my final standings as: CG WC Carmel BD LN NC PIKE LC.

Found a different outlet to watch sports. Started watching people play the NCAA football games with created teams and certain stipulations to make it a challenge for them to win. Also watched other sports videogames they played using college & pro teams in different sports as well as the iRacing stuff. Now I just want to watch it since the real deal isn't quite back and won't be the normal for awhile. Also have been helping the step kids with their 4H projects, but the majority of my time has been chasing after my kids that are 2 and almost 1. If I wouldn't have found the sports videogames to watch, I'd be missing it more. However, the kids & step kids along with work have been keeping me busy so my down time is late at night, like how I'm posting at this time. 😁
