  1. There is white smoke above the Fish Hut in Petersburg, which means they have a new coach!

  2. A quick look on Harrell's has the following: From 2009-2020 Andrean is 5-7 vs. Merrillville.

  4. This video is insane led by coaches who have no idea what they are doing. They probably think this makes kids tough... I love full padded tackle at 3rd grade or lower. I personally would have hated flag. As a slow fat kid there was a place for me fully padded!

  5. They have opened with Merrillville for the last UMPTEEN years..... why is adding Crown Point all of a sudden an issue? (Umpteeth + 12 years in a row, before Mvill, it was Portage, and before Portage it was Chesterton) Enrollment... laughable Andrean 459 bodied enrollment, yet have a football roster in the 70s ish. give me a break on saying due to enrollment figures a school like Andrean that has just about every male athlete in that building playing mulitple sports is going to suffer to this ole new challenge of playing Crown Point.

  6. Mike Golic commented........no proper technique was taught. As a coach, every drill I run has to connect directly to something the guys will do in a game. It would be so rare that these two players would be in a situation that is simulated in a drill like this. Watching it made me sick to my stomach. I worry about the boy who was knocked down. It is one more kid who tried the game, and will likely never even try to play it again because of this.

  7. They set this up to get the result they got. The coaches should be banned from the league.

  8. Next year there are 30 teams in 6A (6 sectionals with 4 teams = 24 teams and 2 sectionals with 3 teams = 6 teams. 24+6=30) Only 2 teams dropped out of 6A. Those two teams (FW Snider and Columbus East) are NOT 6A enrollment schools, they were in 6A due to Success Factor. During the last 2 years, neither team acquired enough Success Factor points (2 points are needed) to STAY in 6A, thus were dropped to 5A. So it would be "unfair" to make them stay in 6A when they 1) are not 6A by enrollment and 2) did not acquire enough Success Factor points to stay up in the class. Thus, those 2 schools dropped to 5A. As well, in 5A - the Hammond Schools saw consolidation from 4 high schools to 2 high schools. Previously, the 4 high schools were 2 4A schools and 2 3A schools. Now as 2 high schools, they are BOTH in 5A enrollment. Thus why 5A went from 33 schools to 37 schools this year. FW Snider and Columbus East dropped due to lack of success factor points in class 6A, and Hammond Central and Hammond Morton were added due to consolidation of high schools.

  9. True, but then you play in the sectional championship after 2 weeks off. That's a long stretch for high school kids. I think one week off does a lot for the bigger schools (that play a big school schedule) especially if you're playing a team for the second time.

  10. Senseless that administrators would allow this game to happen. Think of all the potential danger @temptation🤡🤡

  11. Finally after switching to a computer instead of mobile I could see it. Sheesh. So many thoughts that have already been made in this thread that I agree with. My biggest issue is the camerawork - although not for the reasons Tanka mentioned. 🙂 Like Titan said, they got the action shot they wanted. No coaching of technique, position, and the presence of the emojis pretty much assures me the video was not being taken for review/coaching purposes. I hate to judge situations where I don't have all the information, but I would be embarrassed if this were my league, team, or coaching staff. Give me those four agility pads, two hand shields, and the heavy round dummy the coach is leaning on and I can set up a safer and more game-like drill than this.

  12. I too am disgusted by this footage. Ground level, no hi-def. It blows my mind that in this day and age, with everything we now know about football, that there are still teams not using endzone cameras to film their practices. 😤 😡🤬

  14. The coaches were clearly in the wrong but the blame ultimately lies with the league. A good league will insist on all coaches being certified by USA Football. A great league will also have somebody instructing and supervising coaches to be sure this never happens.

  15. https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/10/politics/biden-employer-assistance-child-care-state-and-local-funding/index.html The same government telling you 'there's no evidence' inflated and expanded unemployment benefits keep people from looking for work is now telling you there's no gas shortage, it's just a 'supply crunch' while over 70% of gas stations are out of gas in some Northeast/Southeast areas of the country.

  16. I've watched it. Absolutely disgusting. Things like this used to be common when no one understood CTE or Concussions... There is no place for this... Not anymore. The coaches should be removed. There is no place for this in Youth football. There are tackle wheels, dummies, blocking sleds, etc. that can work just as well rather than to get a kid (or kids) injured. Not only injured... But you are running kids out of the game doing drills like this.

  17. This....people that aren't familiar with North Central Indiana don't realize what a Frankenstein's monster the NIC has become. Penn and Elkhart really don't "fit" anymore. I think several members of the current NIC would welcome a move by P & E to the DAC. Here...I'll start the hashtag #PandE2DAC

  18. CP vs Andrean is a great addition to the Region football schedule. As DT pointed out, especially if the new school is built on the proposed site in CP. The new school is still not officially approved by the new Bishop. Work continues by Andrean leaders, but Bishop has not decided yet, very frustrating for many at Andrean. With the addition of CP, the first three games next season are going to be tough for a young, rebuilding Andrean team. They open with Merrillville, then CP, then travel to Michigan power Grand Rapids Central Catholic. Baptism by fire for many new starters. Offensively they have to replace 9 out of 11 starters, lose key players at WR, QB, RB and will start a sophomore QB behind a new offensive line. Offense will evolve and improve over the course of the season, but will be work in progress early. Defensively, this will be the strength of the team led by Bowen. Many starters and key players return. Good size and speed on defense. In terms of NCC, Andrean will be right in the mix as usual. Lowell likely will be the favorite, Hobart loses a lot of skill players and leadership, as do Highland and KV. I'd say NCC is wide open. State title run always one of their goals, but realistically this is a retooling year for them. Talent is there and they have been working hard in off season, but awfully young and inexperienced at Oline and QB.

  20. That is how it will be in the future - but the IHSAA could not accurately confirm which 32 schools belonged in 6A this year. It is not that hard to grasp. There is no way accurately telling which 2 schools should be moved up because the only accurate data is from previous years, and things have changed since then (with or without COVID). Add in the fluctuating numbers DUE to Covid, the IHSAA thought it best to just keep the same schools in 6A that were in it the last 2 years. It would have been "unfair" to add Zionsville and Valparaiso to 6A this year without knowing for sure their enrollments were in fact bigger than say.... Jeffersonville, FW Northrop, Harrison (WL) or Castle. Those 6 schools during the last enrollment period were all within 90 students of each other. For all we know, any 2 of those 6 schools would be included in "The 32 teams with the biggest enrollment" as you say.
