Love watching the finals every year. The Mendez kid is an animal. Can't help but think he would be an elite open field tackler in the secondary. The Christian Carroll kid at 215 is a monster, would be a great 3 tech or possible Mike.2 points

I learned some things from you and Gonzo today about the forum.....all in all, a good day!! Just don't want to be redundant....2 points

You can play football at 185 and wrestle at 170 and still follow the weight management plan. I am not talking about coaches that manipulate the system, I am talking about coaches that don't even let the kids go out for wrestling. Like Titan32 said in his earlier post. I have personally had kids that played football and gained weight during wrestling, because we lift during the season and make sure they are eating as well. There is no excuse why football players should not wrestle. Period.2 points

Totally understand and agree, but I would rather have them on my team than not.2 points

I wouldn’t abolish the handshake line because of incidents like this one (even though there have been many - just go to YouTube and search “handshake line incidents”). I’d abolish it because, as @Muda69 says, “No action can be virtuous unless it is freely chosen.” I guess you’re advocating a career change for Coach Howard?1 point

Had me until the last line. You don’t involve some thing that ofyou don’t abolish some thing that has been going on for decades due to an isolated incident like this one. if you’re not man enough to get through the post game handshake line without incident, perhaps you’re in the wrong profession. Needs context. He called a TO to get his subs in. Not nearly the same thing. Also want it known that despite being a Michigan fan, I completely acknowledge Howard was in the wrong on this and as a leader of young men has to do better.1 point

I would add that many kids lose the weight because they want to either for team needs or for potential better weight class for themselves.1 point

Just a tip: I open the GID to the 'Activity' tab on my computer. That way it shows all recent activity in the threads in all Forums and public 'clubs'. On your phone, there is a 'page' button in the blue bar under the main header beside the '+' button. If you press that 'page' button, it will bring up the All Activity list.1 point

Especially when the football team needs him up to 200#.1 point

You are sticking your head in the sand if you think that all programs are the same. As in any system, the weight management plans that you are referring to get manipulated. A kid that play football at 185 and wrestle at 170 is an example. Does that fall under a weight management plan?1 point

I have always preferred Kicking World and Kornblue. Much smaller numbers per camp (by design) and a much higher coach to player ratio which means they get more individual instruction. I know Kornblue has been doing camps the past couple years at Grand Park in Westfield in May and we host a Kicking World camp here at Roncalli on July 23.1 point

Works both ways some kids need to lose the bad weight, have seen kids gain confidence from losing bad weight and became better football players because of it.1 point

Unpopular opinion....there are kids I simply don't want to lose a pound at any point in the year.1 point

Always thought it was a good sport especially for youth players. My linemen, in particular, got a better awareness of how to control their bodies and, even better, to be able to "feel" and understand body shift movements of an opponent.1 point

Marshall Fishback(Rochester)-285 Champ Played 3 tech and Guard. Marshall is a great kid. Some of his football honors are All-Conference 2 years. IFCA Junior All-State and Region 4 All-star on OLine. Rtc4 first team Oline. Did not make IFCA All-State this year because of the bs politics involved. He is also a Track guy. Near 50 ft in shot put and 140 in the disc. Only been wrestling for 3 years!1 point

I would simply like class, sportsmanship, and respect (among others) to be displayed in the post game, hand shake line.1 point

It sounds like there are a few who want to continue to play them and some who do not. In my opinion, MIC schools kicking them out was just asinine.1 point

So...in 2023, will any of the MIC teams play CG and Carmel? I figured in '22, due to contracts and the relative lack of time, the MIC would still play CG and Carmel. If they continue playing CG and Carmel, what a joke even kicking them out in the first place lol.1 point

From my view of the video, I think calling Gard the “aggressor” is a bit overstated. Can you be an aggressor without being aggressive? Because I don’t see anything aggressive about Gard trying to get Howard to pause in the line so he could explain himself, after Howard obviously expressed his displeasure. To me, he was trying to defuse the matter right there, rather than have it linger when these two met next. And to those who say he shouldn’t have put a hand on Howard, OK, I get that. But it’s weak, IMO, for a grown man to take the sort of offense Howard did. Yet another example of why the forced post-game handshake line ought to be abolished.1 point

That won't be me. Membership in the IHSAA is completely voluntary the last time I checked. But because it has a monopoly on the running of high school sports in this state many believe it is some kind of government organization.1 point

extra insulation comes in handy during the winter months, and sexy guys like us don't lose hair....it just moves around to other parts of the body......1 point

IHSAA rules only apply to IHSAA sanctioned sports. Is it fair? No. But it's also not fair that I'm overweight and losing my hair.1 point

Not defending the travel rule but cheerleading isn't an IHSAA sanctioned sport.1 point
