Will be an interesting game.  Chatard beat Roncalli early in the season 33-11.  Against common foe, Harrison, the outings seemed to indicate a flip.  Chatard, while in control of the Harrison game, for the most part, was still only up by 7 with just around 4 minutes to go in the game when they stretched the lead to 10 with a field goal.  They had a 7-point lead going into the half too.  By contrast, the Harrison-Roncalli game was over pretty much 3 minutes into the 2nd half where Roncalli led 23-0 going 3-for-3 on their initial possessions and grabbing a safety.  Royals led 36-7 at the half and turned it into a running clock on their first possession of the 3rd quarter.  While the final score says 57-20, it wasn't that close ... Harrison's final 6 points came on the last play of the game on a long pass.  No PAT was attempted as time expired and the PAT wouldn't have mattered.

One thing I noticed, which might be a difference item, is that Jarvis didn't have any rushing yards in the game against Chatard although he did have 3 receptions for 43 yards.  Ash, the QB had the most rushing yards against Chatard with 79 yards on 17 carries and a TD.  Against Harrison, Jarvis had 146 yards on 19 carries with 3 TDs.  Ash had 11 carries for 76 yards and a TD as well.  Jarvis is listed at 201 lbs. and 6'1".  Not sure why he didn't carry the ball in the earlier game against Chatard, but he may well be a difference maker in a rematch.

Chatard was without their starting senior QB against Laf. Harrison.  He's been out 5 of their first 8 games.  Just came back last week.

Yes, trap game. I think East Noble was looking ahead to Leo. I have Dwenger and East Noble dead even at the moment. There's swagger at this East Noble program, I like that. They fear no one. They'd square up against Carmel thinking they're the predator and the Greyhounds were the prey. They have a confidence about them.

Swagger tends to earn you a medal with a “Red” ribbon holding it to your neck, if you plan to earn the “Blue” one it has to start with mutual respect.

Yeah, but look at Kevin Wright and his feelings towards Penn, sometimes you can not respect someone and beat their brains in as well.

Is there a particular program you're referring to who doesn't respect their opponent?

And he is playing on a torn ACL. He is 6’2 215 and the backup is 5’11 155. The arm talent is decidedly different. If the starter  had played against Cathedral the Trojans likely win that game by 2 scores and this entire conversation is unnecessary.

"Swagger" is often a cover up for false confidence when not accompanied by any real resume or accomplishments.

Chatard wins through a harder path than they're used to in 3A. Roncalli and Heritage Hills will probably test them, but with no New Pal in 4A this year the Trojans should be able to get it done.

Should be a real test for Chatard this weekend by closing out with Elder who, last I looked, was the No. 1 ranked team in Ohio (per MaxPreps).

Glad to see you're still here

Can I have any hot takes for the incoming chatard HH matchup

Thank you.

Well, strikes me that there’s a fair distance between Mooresville and any prospective Chatard/HH game although it seems like these two teams are in an eternal cycle of playing each other in October/November…whether in 3A or 4A.  That said, does ANY other team, regardless of class, have 2 SEC level players on their roster?  That’s some amazing talent that HH has.

I’m reluctant to speculate any further than Mooresville….let alone versus a Roncalli team that’s always formidable and appears to be much improved since Week 2.  The Rebels (errrr….meh….”Royals”) are easily, in my opinion, one of the Top 4-5 teams in 4A.

Chatard, as pointed out above, has some injury issues.  I will be honest in that when Chatard and New Pal played their OT game last year I considered them to be somewhat reflective of one another (again…my opinion).  Not so much reflective as to where each other’s strength and weaknesses lay but rather reflective in that both teams were, frankly, very young in terms of where much of their strengths came from…primarily Juniors and Sophs last year.  I will admit, this is a very good Chatard team which should have won the Cathedral game (btw, I called BS when everyone was citing Cathedral as “down’ some weeks back) but it remains to be seen how things play out.

The Warden has granted me computer privileges for the moment….so long as I’m on good behavior.   As always, it's a day-to-day thing.  I'm aspiring to work release at some point.

I'm seeing that more and more now adays. In the past, the better teams knew how to get into their opponents head pre-game. Now all teams are pretty much doing it.

Miami Hurricanes of the 80's & 90's were a good example of "swagger." I think it's okay for kids to go out, express themselves as long as they're not earning personal fouls, and have fun. I like that vs the business approach where players look like a bunch of robots.

Am I correct is saying that Chatard has never won a title in 4A. They've all been in 2A an 3A? However this is they year that they may well break through.

Yes,  you are correct.  Chatard, unfortunately, seems to have repeatedly ran into some very strong New Pal (2013 and 2024)) and Roncalli (2014 and 2021) teams that sent them back down to 3A.  3 of those teams later winning State, I believe.

There is only one team from 3A so far that has managed to also win 4A and that team is Evansville Memorial.  Although I can’t speak knowledgeably about 1A and 2A teams, the only other “bumped” teams I am aware of that have won the class above their “home” class are Cathedral and New Pal (4A teams that have won 5A).

The ONLY team, so far, that has managed to successfully win its way up 2 classes is Cathedral.

Adams Central won 2A last year after being bumped up from 1A. Good shot at winning it again this year too.

I believe Luers is a 2A school that has only won 2A championships.  They lost last year in 3A to Heritage Hills.

Definitely “wife release”.

I’m fairly certain Luers has yet to win the 3A State Championship.  That said, the 2012 Luers team beat Ritter in the State Championship.  The same Ritter team that had handily beat Chatard who won 3A that year.  In turn, Chatard had previously beaten Cathedral who later won 4A that year.

Wow! That is pretty wild. The GID is definitely a better place when you are posting nuggets like this...

Words I consistently heard in the stands last week from Harrison fans about Roncalli included "disciplined," "well-coached," "well-oiled," "not prone to mistakes," "effective," "forceful," and "solid."  Would concur.
