Scrimmages

I wouldn't worry to much about canceled scrimmages.  Some teams that have had a case or two would rather make SURE they are ready for game one which is infinitely more important than a scrimmage.

Agreed, all scrimmages should be cancelled.  In the best of years, they just let everyone get on the field against unfamiliar faces..

This year, they could put your guys in quarantine.

Yes, lets continue to cancel every damn thing in life.

Its fine to play a week later against another team.  But not a week earlier in a scrimmage.

The incredible weakness of this country is staggering right now.

Just happened to see this information put out on twitter . . .

LaVille Football Scrimmage at Prairie Heights

Saturday, August 15, 6 p.m.

Physical distancing and masks required

Home team to enter one end of stadium. Visiting team to enter opposity end of stadium.

Tickets given to family of players, coaches, managers, cheerleaders, etc., Patron will then submit ticket with $3 admission at the gate.

Site also mentions

JUST A REMINDER

Lancer fans, it is extremely important to physical distance in the visitor stands and wear masks for this event.

as always, the game is better

Yes how dare they look at actual stats that show influenza is much more dangerous to kids then Covid 19.

We need more people making decisions listening to CNN experts and Indy Star columnists instead.

Agreed.  I'm all for masks/sanitizing/distancing, and also quarantining the ill and isolating older/high risk/pre-existing conditions people.   But this lock down thing has to end eventually.  Besides a vaccine, which may or may not be effective across the board initially, herd immunity is mother nature's answer to this.  It needs to run it's course.  Either that or we keep everything locked down indefinitely and the end result of that could be worse than COVID-19 itself.

Communities, parents, players need something to offset all this gloom & doom.  That thing is H.S. football - IMHO.

We all know how quickly things change!

We are not to Saturday yet.

A cancellation is not out of the question.

Here you have one school from one county (LaVille .- St. Joseph) and one from another county (Prairie Heights - LaGrange).

Now granted, they are using two separate entrances for each of the respective fans.

They are limiting the seating.

And, the event is held outdoors.

The event does have three things going for it.

Do scrimmages count as practices?

I can't remember.. How many practices do you have to have to scrimmage?

Scrimmages do not count as practices.

A player must have 5 practices to play in the scrimmage. The 5 practices must be on 5 separate days. Two a day practices only count as one practice not two.

IHSAA by-law 50-6. Page 108.

After loosing Carroll(FLora) for their scrimmage, and a couple other opportunities, West Central will scrimmage Oak Hill in Converse.  This, I believe, will be West Central's 1st opportunity to play on turf.

Nice stadium.

Calm down.  Its just a scrimmage.

Its not 'fine' to play a week later but that decision has been made.

If we want to play on the 21st, dont risk it on the 14th.

Not a big deal.

Maybe, but Sweetness has sadly passed, Jim McMahon has lost all (or most) of his marbles, and the Fridge keeps getting fatter.  So maybe the Bad News Nears...

Saw Mongo, Danimal, and the Big O perform last Summer. They got the band back together.
