Given enough time there....I bet they would.

It's a cultural thing as much as anything.

Makes a pretty strong case for class-bumping the Irish!  😜

I wish we still played you guys too.  I think we had similar schedule with Carmel as well where played on consistent basis in the past.  I don't know the history on the change but maybe the priority of playing the CGL had something to do with it...

Apparently the Evansville PPs don't work as hard as their Indy, Lafayette and Fort Wayne brothers given the dearth of state title activity coming out of the south.

I mean, what else could it be?

Maybe its just a little too cozy down there in the good ole SIAC?

I agree!  We've got a lot of catching up to do.

Do me a favor....sneak into Chatard's locker room and pour some concrete in their girdles.  Those guys clearly have it too easy.

They actually do. They used to practice on rocks and broken glass.

Love that reference.  It also dates a few of us by knowing it.

It takes a lot to make it to be a dinosaur.  I'm proud of that moniker!

Not so fast. They do hold a team state tournament every year that classes the teams. Very nice tournament and pretty exciting.
This is not an IHSAA event. But includes teams from all over the state that qualify.

And those 4 classes are not enrollment based. Mater Dei, Carmel and Warren Central were in the same class at this year's event.

At least you got the hierarchy correct. 😆

I believe the team tournament is run by the Ind. HS wrestling coaches association and is based on enrollment, but MD opted to go into the highest class.  I don't think that tournament is an "all-in" thing.  It has been a few years since I was involved in the HS wrestling program so I may be wrong.

Ev. Memorial's record at state (2 of 5) would be far better if the IHSAA had adopted a mandatory 1 class bump up for any school with "West" or "Lafayette" in the name.

Heh…maybe.  But it’s worth pointing out that being in 4A in 2019 got us a title we almost certainly wouldn’t have gotten had we been in 3A.

No 3A team was going to beat Chatard that year. HH had a good team, and Chatard curb-stomped them at state.

We had beaten Chatard pretty soundly the year before - but that was with Lindauer and both Combs bros.

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what happened. That game in 11 at Lucas Oil where Coach Streiff decided to go for the win instead of the tie and ended with the BD goal line stand was special.

As a consolation prize, the IHSAA has made them "honorary Catholics" and traditionally placed them in the Sectional of Death with Chatard, Brebeuf, and Guerin.

With Crawfordsville, Hamilton Heights, Yorktown and North Montgomery in the "Sacrificial Lamb" bracket of that Sectional.

Recall that they used to feed the Christians to the lions in the earlier events of the gladiatorial games.  Wasn't all that sporting, but it did kill time and generate beer sales.
