No. It gives the player an opportunity to enjoy what remains of his high school career without any distractions or worries.3 points

Well said! I love football, and will always be for it under the right conditions. But here’s the deal: there’s so much to COVID-19, probably much more than we realize. I’m not an epidemiologist, virologist, or any other kind of ist, just a crappy excuse for an accountant. I just want everybody to be safe.1 point

I could be wrong about this but the similarity amongst those schools that have suspended summer conditioning, including school city of Hammond and East Chicago is that none of those schools have introduced reopening plans as individual districts. In my opinion, that plays an incredible role, it seems that a district would have a plan in place to reopen before allowing fall sports to proceed. School City of Hammond is announcing their entry into fall athletics on Tuesday.1 point

The way I read this a school can still have a Marching Band, they could still play on Friday nights....they just aren’t having the big competitions?1 point

My recollection from the Marian game last year was that they were losing a lot to graduation. Honestly, Concordia was probably the most youthful team we saw in the North with the most coming back. I have to admit that, although the whole Sectional 28 thing was a bit...errr..... “dubious”, it was very, very cool to see and play against teams in the North. Teams that you are only going to see at LOS otherwise (unless you schedule them in the regular season). Without fully knowing, I’d still pick the winner of 28 to be the most likely team from the North to get to LOS. I really think there were 4 teams in that Sectional last year that could have made it to LOS if they had survived the Sectional.1 point

Hmmmm......usually it’s just a rehash of the end of last season and not much of a predictor. For the most part it is - excepting they dinged Heritage Hills unusually hard by ranking them 6th rather than 2nd (which would be the norm). No idea how these teams actually shape up but I’d definitely put Guerin somewhere in the Top 10. Man, I’m going to be sick (maybe not the best word choice) if there is no HS football this Fall.1 point

This was announced on Fort Wayne Local news. From what I understand, It was stated that high schools can still have their own band contests, but they will not be sponsored by the state agency. So it seems like the state has washed its hands of any responsibility if an outbreak happened at an event. https://wpta21.com/2020/07/16/issma-cancels-competitive-marching-band-season/#:~:text=FORT WAYNE%2C Ind.&text="The ISSMA Executive Committee has,Band events have been cancelled.”1 point

I am not a fan of a decision like this happening at the State level. If a local community and/or school board decides like we are seeing with sports and schools, then ok. I am sad for the kids in all of those situations, but it still should be a local call.1 point

Only people who hate athletics would say Washington Township is taking a stand. Give me a freaking break. They took a stand like France did in WW2.1 point

You know I'm not sure where everyone is located but I will say this.... I know this isn't high school Football, but I pretty much remained silent through all this on these forums. My oldest daughter is halfway through her softball season and we are very fortunate. I live in a once upon a time COVID Hotspot that made national news during the outbreak! I really feel for all Coaches, parents, and players with High School Sports and quite frankly It is emotional just typing this out and I'm not an emotional guy! My daughter hit her 2nd home run last night this season and it all happened so quick, but when she stomped on home plate it was all slow motion afterwards. Watching the joy and the excitement on her face, and seeing her teammates clear the dugout while the coaches were jumping and screaming, and seeing my wife get emotional while her little sister was going bezerk was truly an amazing feeling and it felt like an eternity to me. I honestly grew up respecting the opportunity I had with sports but didn't fathom the bigger picture. I have seen the fear on these Forums of no season whether its for a senior son playing their final season, or a coach in fear for the kids who don't have much other than football, or a megafan who just simply cannot live without watching a game, or a ref who does it for the love for the sport! I can honestly say I really really Hope this will pass for everyone so everyone will experience that feeling I had last night. After the Game was the best night of the year spent with my wife and kids. All of this was sparked from a competitive atmosphere and I cannot thank the league enough because I will not take these little things for granted anymore. So thankful there is normalcy coming for sports and my daughter had the opportunity to smack that ball! All I'm trying to say is if my city can recover all the others can too! Just have hope the tide will flip!1 point

Well; hangovers are a COMPLETELY different story lol But having a cookout or two or other Summer things does not exclude someone from being concerned about his/her classroom.1 point
