My contribution would be Cardinal Ritter. 10 years, or so, ago they were playing for state championships and now the program seems to be in shambles. I hope they can get it back in a short time.

My nomination for "Oh My" team of the year is 1A Madison-Grant. They are currently 6-1 on the year and in each of their 6 victories they have held their opponents to 8 points or less. The beat the biggest school in their conference (4A Mississinewa) for the first time in 9 years (during which was on average a 37 point victory for Mississinewa). The Argylls have not had a winning season in a decade, but that will change this season no matter the outcome of their final 3 games.

Never heard me complain about losing, and I’ve done a lot of that. Would I rather go down a slide of razor blades into a pool of rubbing alcohol than lose in anything to Riverton, yes, but I won’t complain. They have the conferences best player since Johnson aborted ship and Kevin Allen has enough money to start getting them the best equipment on and off the field. Down year for the Wolves! I will say if Price tries pulling his Panther football wagon around the town square being followed by the Mecca fire trucks in a parade, I will bulldoze that monstrosity into a ditch on their way back down south! 😈 In all seriousness, I just pray they don’t storm the field and have parents crying when they finally beat us like Turkey Run did when they beat the Rox the final year before consolidation. (I considered jumping off their water tower after watching that pathetic display of emotion.)

Should have 2 good games and 2 running clock beatdowns Eastbrook @ MG- I'm rooting for MG, BUT the Panthers start getting into postseason form now and win by 6 Frankton @ Alex- I think Eagles finally find some offense, D has been strong all year, Eagles win by 6 Ole Miss @ Elwood- Ole Miss by 1000 OH @ Blackford- OH by 1000 Side note: Sectional 36 is wide open, I could see Eastbrook, Alex, Frankton, Eastern, Bluffton, Tipton all in the championship game. As always, it just depends on the draw and who's on what side. For the first time in a long time, i don't think anyone is scared to play Eastbrook, although I'd say they're still the favorites.

Brownsburg - This might be the best team Brownsburg has had since 1985 when they won state in 4a. Brownsburg has scored 50 on Zionsville, 60 on Avon and 42 on Cathedral. Oh MY! Attica - I know Attica has been hit hard with covid the last 2 years, but Attica just got beat by Riverton Parke 72-6 and Tri-County beat them 48-6. That is the only game Tri-County has won. Oh MY! McCutcheon - What has happened to McCutcheon? They don't play LCC, but the other teams in Tippecanoe County are blowing them away. West Lafayette beat them 41-15, Harrison won 38-3, and Lafayette Jeff beat them 57-7. Oh My! Marion and Richmond- It looks like both teams will end up 0-9. They don't play each other, and that is too bad. Marion and Richmond both had great teams in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Marion made it to state in 1988 and 1990. Lafayette Jeff beat Richmond 80-0 and New Haven beat Marion 47-0 this year. Both teams going 0-9 in the same season probably has never happened before. Oh MY! Clinton Central - This might be the worst offense Clinton Central has ever had. They have scored only 3 td's in the last 6 games. Clinton Central couldn't score against Frontier and Noblesville Home School scored 43 on Frontier. "Oh MY" If any team has surprised you so far this year, good or bad, list them here. I'm sure there are a lot of other "Oh My" teams and games.

The wrench I'll throw into this just for fun discussion: GS wouldn't be running the "BA Offense" as it ultimately ended last November without a BA-type of QB. It is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison to the current (and prototypical) GS offense, which I don't think many would say is an offense that can't be successful all the way to LOS. If you forced BA to run the 2012-17 or 2022 offense only... I'd argue strongly that they'd have a tough go at making it to LOS. What I mean is, if you tried to fit a round peg in a square hole it won't fit, and vice-versa. TL;DR version: Taking the talent of a BA-type QB and putting it into different skill sets wouldn't preclude a trip to (or win at) LOS.

Walter is a bigger troll than Spanky Harper. How is it that we are even talking about Winamac when, arguably, the biggest conference game in the HNAC’s history is about to be played? Because Walter Sobjack wanted to talk about last year all over again. I wish Walter was a Bluejay fan, but his true colors always come out.

I was sad to read the story of his health issues that forced him to leave before this season, which was to be his farewell year. I had a son who student taught under George and he spoke very highly of him. I know we made fun of the tie and cowboy collars and all, but his teams always played hard and could execute that split back veer very well. I hope he wins his health battle and has a long retirement.

Of course. They have an elite coach. I think it's fair to say they're not beating Brebeuf last year with just an average HS QB. Allen was making throws in that game that were beyond next level for a HS QB.

Honestly I feel like it should be 1. Reitz 2. Memorial 3. Mater Dei 4 Castle 5 North 6. VL 7 Jasper 8. Harrison 9 Bosse 10. Central Memorial's losses were so early in the year and they had so many guys out. They also beat MD. Now if they lose to Castle or MD is able to beat Reitz that changes things, but as for now this is how I would rank them.

I guess if Roncalli is forced to throw the ball 20-25+ times then it just ain't their night. I'm willing to bet the Roncalli staff knows what their QB is and isn't capable of doing in the event they can't get their ground game going. But I think its senseless for Roncalli to make it priority to come out and start slinging the ball around the field for the sake of possibly needing it down the road. Roncalli has an identity, and a good one at that, force the other team to adjust rather than vice versa. Nobody has stopped Roncalli on the ground this year.

I've seen numerous Chatard and Roncalli teams run roughshod through 3A and 4A tournaments in years past without having the need to throw a forward pass. Any of the New Pal teams with Charlie Spegal could have won state without throwing a forward pass. There may come a time when Roncalli needs to throw the ball, but they haven't at all this year out of necessity. If you're gaining 5-6 yards a carry, why throw it?

And your evidence to the contrary? What coach wants to only work one aspect of their offensive strategy during a game? From a coaching perspective if you have a strong run offense and a capable passing game you still want the passing game to get plays in during the game and be effecient. Just looking at their passing stats they complete 50% of their passes and they have thrown at least 109 times. So they aren't very efficient when they do throw and only 4 TDs to go with that. While they have run the ball 328 times. I have more evidence to support what we are seeing versus what you're saying is unknown. They can't complete passes and score so it isn't as much of what is unknown as they have to run the ball because they are not getting it done in the passing game. Wouldn't it be evident that if they could pass well they would still be run heavy because they run the ball so well, but still able to score and complete a higher percentage of passes. Even Roncalli fans have expressed to me their concern about the passing game. And what is there to be jaded about and bias about? The numbers speak for themselves. Their WRs are average 29 yards or less a game. They are averaging 80 yards passing a game. They're running their star RB 40 times a game nearly (on two occasions at least). Why would a coach jeopardize his star RB like that if the passing game could help take some off his back and give him some rest for the playoffs? Just because you have one of the best lines and backs in the state doesn't mean you run them to death. New Pal has a great run offense and OL too. We still throw the ball and attempt to be as balanced as possible while giving reps and practice to both sides of the offense. What is wishful thinking is making an argument with assumptions and no evidence to back it up.

Not saying they haven’t had success, just not a successful season. Successful season at Cathedral = state championship. I don’t think making regionals is their goal.

Eh…that must’ve been a misprint wherever you saw it. Hunt had 135 yards on the ground by himself. North did hold the Lincoln ground game in check though for the most part. People weren’t kidding about their roster. Probably the biggest and most athletic in the conference.

Allen was the best player on the field by far last year, but Brebeuf was severely outcoached by Nick Hart. Can't remember all the details but I know Brebeuf had a 3 TD lead midway through the 2nd quarter and rather than methodically running the ball like they had been and keeping Allen off the field, Brebeuf through not 1 but 2 interceptions that allowed GS to get back into the game.

Definately enjoyed that W after the way they lost to Penn State and Syracuse. The 'Cuse was the worst for me. Can't give up 30 yards in penalties after you score the assumed game winning TD! It could be worse. At least I'm not one of the boosters who committed $95M to Mel Tucker, lol. I respect what PJ Fleck has done in Minnesota; however, his Row The Boat schtick and reading children's books to his team just really annoys me for some reason.

I'm a bit surprised at this line. Granted, I've seen neither of them play any games at all this year, but just looking at common opponents, score differentials, etc. I would have thought this would be a closer spread, if not a pick em at home for the Alices. That's my expert armchair opinion through my minutes and minutes of internet research while sitting on the crapper, so it's pretty much gospel. Either way, S30 is looking interesting. If GS and VL get paired up first round on Sunday, folks up and down 41 are going to be P!$$ED. To put it mildly.

I will add South Vermillion to my list! Never thought after losing the QB and WR that they lost last year to graduation (ISU and UIndy) they would be 6-1 right now with a probable chance to go 8-1 and a chance to compete in their sectional. Greg Barrett teams never surprise me when they're good, but this one is impressive considering what they lost last year.

Gonna find out next few weeks how valuable Brady Allen was to the Titans…I think they’ll prove they were more than just a 3A outfit with an elite QB.

No issues that I can see. There is a topic for Week 7 scores though, but I don't see any need to delete.

You def bring up two very good points. Not giving them excuses, but every reclassification ends with Valley going to the dominate Sectional for 2 years. If not for some years I think they def had the talent of other sectional champions just had to play the state champion in the first three rounds every year. As for leaving the TRC, I agree. The problem is finding another conference to join. The Northern conference might put them in about the same spot they are in. Maybe a little more competition every week, but I think they would end up dominating it as well. After that, I'm not sure where they go. Its one of those things where I think they might just be content with piling on the conference championships, and maybe one day when Chatard is up in 4A they find a way to make a playoff run.
