  1. Everyone assumes another 4A sized INDY school (Cathedral) can arguably be the best team in the State almost ANNUALLY but hardly anyone is willing to grant that another 4A sized school (East Central) which is actually a Cincinnati suburban school (when you drill down just a bit....where some of the best football in the country is played) can't EVER possibly be the best team in Indiana...or, at least, contend for it. Let's be clear, CalPreps has them #2 in Indiana currently. 4A New Pal was more than likely the best team in the state just a few short years ago - Indy suburbs. God forbid a smaller school outside of the Indy metro might be any good. Most everything I read here (and from the peanut brains on Facebook) reflects the overall myopia towards 6A, Indy, Ft.Wayne and the Region (God forbid). An added irony is that those in the Cincy Metro most likely chuckle at we Indiana hayseeds when we scoff that a Cincy suburban team...the best team in the Cincy tri-state (who's address just happens to be in Indiana) somehow just doesn't measure up.

  3. I appreciate the words. Everyone on this end understands the buzzsaw we are running into.....the speech has already been given to shut out all the media and frankly those in the community that see it as an impossible feat. In 2019 the boys were being congratulated on a great season before the game in Indy was even played. They were defeated mentally before they got there. I'll steal one from the Gibson Southern playbook here...."IB".

  6. I'm not upset your rankings are your rankings (as are other peoples opinions/rankings). East central absolutely has an opportunity to crown themselves 4A State Champions. East Central had more than 1 quality win over Moeller. Harrison (OH) was a solid Ohio Div 2 team they lost in Regionals to Anderson (13-1 and #1 seed in Region 8 who will play Massillon Washington in the Semi-Finals to get to the Div 2 title game against likely Archbishop Hoban. They also put a running clock on Lawrenceburg (only a year removed from playing for the 3A State Title but not as good this year). Blanked Batesville who ended up losing a tight one to Heritage Hills in Regionals. Running clocked Evansville Memorial in Evansville a week after they knocked off undefeated Evansville Reitz. Shutout a solid but not great New Palestine team. They also beat a Roncalli team but similar margin as Cathedral and Louisville Male. Would they have an unblemished record playing Cathedral, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, or Center Grove's schedule probably not. They would hold their own with that schedule though, they play who they had to play in conference play and beefed up their non-conference games (not their fault Roncalli wasn't as strong this year as the last 2 years). They still played and beat quality opponents along the way, and left no doubt against the teams they should beat. Regardless the only title they will be able to get is the 4A title. You'll be thoroughly impressed with how they play on Saturday. Northwood will trot out some athletes, but East central will be up to the task and put their best foot forward. They are very well coached too which does not get mentioned much. The awe of Brotherton and Ringer usually gets mentioned, but Maxwell had a pretty darn good game against New Palestine.

  11. Fact check yourself dude. Snider is relevant almost every year, regardless of what class they are in. Certainly one of the most consistent teams in the entire state. As BTF pointed out to you, Snider has been in 6A recently and if they win Friday night, will be again. Quit picking Snider , we certainly don’t care, and hang your hat on Chatard and the creampuff 3A class

  12. Everyone gets upset about hypothetical rankings. Who really cares. East Central has an opportunity on Saturday to crown themselves champions of 4A, and that's all that really matters. After that, they can make the claim "we could." But in reality, we'll never know. East Central had a really good win over Moeller, and they want to use that as a basis to the claim "we're the best in Indiana." I get it, but when I compile my final ranking (which means nothing btw), body of work over the entire season is going to come into play. At the end of the day, yes, the Trojans are "pretty darn good." I think it's exciting for their program and fans that posters here on the gridiron are even mentioning them in the same sentence with Indiana's perennial powers. I'm looking forward to seeing them in person on Saturday.

  13. Heritage Hills is, frankly, one of the greatest 3A programs in Indiana HS football history. Anyone unaware or disrespectful of this, is apparently one of those "expert" Facebook posters....or much worse. With that, this is a pretty darn good Chatard team. Although known for their defense, they scored 4 TDs - 28 pts on only 9 offensive plays v. Knox and 35 pts on 14 offensive plays v. Knox prior to half time.

  14. Also want to brag on these AC athletes and our local athletes in our Stateline area in general. 3rd year AC is the northern 1A football representative and 4th year for Adams County as South Adams was in 2020. A few of these Jets were key in the 1A team state wrestling runner up finish. One even qualified for the individual wrestling state tournament as have a couple others in the years prior. A few are on the basketball team that had a great year last year. First time in 40 years or so they won the conference tournament. They lost to the 2A state champions in the sectional (final maybe?). Could have just as good or better season this year. As for Adams County, Bellmont volleyball had been dominant with 3 straight runner up finishes. South Adams has had success the past couple years with deep runs. AC's girls lost to state champ Burris in regional final. Girls cross country won first sectional ever too. All 3 have solid spring sports programs as well. Expanding to our Ohio neighbors, Crestview basketball was runner up last year & Parkway may have done it in 2020 if Covid didn't hit. Vam Wert football won a State Title and Lincolnview baseball with 2 runner ups and softball with one. Parkway softball with a final 4 this past spring. Of course Mercer County with the MAC has been racking up state titles in multiple sports. Marion Local should win another football title. Celina is in the final 4 for the first time in awhile. They could make a title appearance this year if they win this weekend. We truly are blessed in our area & communities!

  21. I still have Carroll up there with, at least within the ballpark, of Crown Point and Penn. Too much stock is being put into their loss to Warsaw. Just like many on here thinking Snider is average since Mishawaka took them to the wire. Those are hard offenses to defend. Warsaw's time of possession on one drive was higher than Carroll's for the entire game. Again, posters are putting too much stock into "one" game. Warren Central almost beat Ben Davis. EVERY team has a week or two where they just don't play up to par. Some are too blind to see that. I have a lot of respect for the time you put into your rankings. At least you throw it out there. I'm still going to take the easy road and put mine out there after this weekend. By the way, I still think Brownsburg is the best team in the state. But I'll give credit where credit is due. I'm not sure anything can change my mind this weekend about not having them in at least the #2 position. As of right now, I'm not sure how you measure the gap between Ben Davis and Crown Point...........unless we're going by how many miles they are away from Indianapolis. I really don't feel like getting into another transitive property debate. I'm just hoping for a good game, as I know you are too.

  23. I was told from mid-season on that I had Crown Point overrated and they were not a top 10 team…”more like 12-15” was the quote I believe. Much of the same was said about Penn. ”No way they are better than Carroll!” This will likely piss people off but let’s not forget that Brownsburg TRUCKED Westfield on the road and had BD on the ropes before losing a heartbreaker. What could that possibly say about the gap from BD to Crown Point?

  24. How many Goldsberry's are there in Lincoln City seems like the last name Goldsberry has been around awhile (of course it could be my old mind playing tricks on me too). BC looked real good just before halftime after @Lysander stuck his tongue to the fuse box to the lights at Arlington. Then looked even better the next morning at Chatard (the Palace not Broad Ripple's Field of Champions). He had to go and spoil all the fun of having more home games at Arlington.

  26. Ben Davis has an almost completely new coaching staff since the last state run. Pretty much everyone left when Kirschner left or was gone within a couple of years. The only constant is Kevin Vanderbush, and he's been there for all of them. I think Mark Zackery is about the only holdover otherwise. The rest were Simmons or Mann hires (I think). There were some guys who played for Coach Dullaghan on the staff in state games. But, you're right. This is largely a new staff and, obviously, team.

  31. These two sentences sum up the game perfectly. The Snider defense was OUTSTANDING and that might be putting it mildly. I was extremely impressed with that unit. Thought the Pirates battled and fought hard but Snider was the better team and showed it for 48 minutes. Merrillville will be back, no doubt!

  35. Err….I’m just looking SOLELY at CalPreps (I kind of rule out Sagarin these days). Chatard is in the mix as a Top 10 team….it’s rare that a 5A team even sniffs that Top 10 is unless it’s a bumped 4A. Regardless, the best Chatard can claim is 3A Champ…if they are so fortunate to do so. I will admit some degree of bitterness as regards Snider because I pick them year after year, after year, after year, after year…ad nauseam to win 5A . Outside of here, I oft complain to my football buddies that I listen too much to the Ft. Wayne fanboys when I pick Snider year after year……..AFTER YEAR. To a point, unless a 4A team is involved, one just generally need show up to win 5A. Still amazed Snider hasn’t actually been able to push up to 6A. It’s been 11 years at this point….in the easiest Class in the State. ……and yet I pick Snider EVERY darn year. Dude, you should be thanking me for supporting a losing cause.

  36. I love how you claim admiration for Snider, then throw their program under the bus with claims that you think are factual. You're only here to tout how great Chatard is, that's factual. I'm looking forward to my final assessments after the state finals are over. Everything until then is just speculation. There's twelve teams left that need to finish what they started. Until then, stop your 'Chatard is greater than thou nonsense.'

  39. Have you looked at the four-loss Moeller team's schedule? (Whose RB has committed to Michigan, btw.) Loss to EC 38-28. Lost to Center Grove, your #3 team 35-34 in OT. Lost to Ben Davis 49-28. I would put East Central as #2 behind Ben Davis just based on that alone. Moeller also beat Dwenger 57-0 for comparison as well. The Trojans are pretty darn good.

  44. EC has played 12 Indiana teams and put a running clock on all 12. They have the number 1 scoring offense in the state and top 3 defense. If this years team doesn't deserve number 1 overall then no team outside of 6a indy schools ever will.
