I have long railed against ESPN/NCAA for bringing college games to Friday nights, yea I’m looking at you IU. Now the NFL is getting in the act. I suggest you join my merry band of pirates, screw the Big10, screw IU, screw TV, dare I say it screw….the man….there I said it. Go to a local school of your choosing tonight, plop down your 6-7 bucks, spend a 20 at the concession stand and enjoy the hell out of kids who just love a game! Who’s with me? …..que patriotic music17 points

I would never pay for Sunday Ticket. Can’t justify it. However, I have friends/family that do and will let me come over and watch. No connection to Wisconsin. There were several factors that led me to the Packers though. 1. My dad isn’t a Colts fan. The Colts didn’t move to Indy until he was 21 so he already had a team. He and my uncle never got along so they always rooted for the rival to the other’s teams. Since my uncle was a Bengals fan, my dad was a Steelers fan. 2. Player marketing works on kids. When I discovered football in the 90s, Brett Favre was one of the top players. Loved watching him play and loved the Packers’ uniforms. 3. I was a rebellious kid. While I have always been loyal to an Indiana college team, I strayed with pro sports because I felt the Colts, Pacers, and Reds were too bland. I went with the Packers, St. Louis Cardinals (due to the marketing of Mark McGwire as well as my childhood appreciation of cardinals), and whatever team Shaquille O’Neal played for (although I haven’t watched the NBA in almost 20 years). We already have Peacock so I can’t say I’m spending money on it just to watch the Packers play.3 points

IU cash’s the check, screw em, I’m supporting the local kids I’d like to see grow up and be successful! You understand how high school sports are funded…..right?3 points

Honestly IO, the only way I’m watching or listening to IU play football is if somebody pays me. Barring the unexpected, I plan on being at a HS football game every Friday night through Thanksgiving weekend…like most every year.3 points

I’d like to see Indiana do the co-op thing over 8 man like Illinois. That and weed are about the only things they’ve done right over there. I swear to God it is.2 points

I think that most of the sports you mentioned (could be mistaken) in which Carmel and CG play have “invitationals” in which multiple teams compete unless you are insinuating they have a wrestling dual/volleyball match. You're going to run into each other in those sports wheee competitions are mainly invite based as naturally they are hard to avoid. You’re right though. It’s all really bizarre and silly in the grand scheme of things and the kids are ultimately suffering so the adults can virtue signal and control some embellished narrative. Carmel and CG are both getting on a bus Friday night, traveling 2+ hours each way across state lines in order to “protect each other” from the other party because some adults refuse to lock themselves in a room and sort out their differences. Both teams will roll back into their school parking lots well after midnight and the coaches (and some players I assume) will be right back at it the next morning. Then, they’ll look at folks with a straight face and speak about “doing what’s best for student athletes.” Crazy times we are living in.2 points

I completely agree, no chance I would watch/go to IU vs. WIU over HS game. Why can't they play NFL games on..... Thursdays, Sundays, and Mondays... unless it's some Holiday? While we're here... what's it like for you guys that root for an out-of-state NFL team and can't even go to that team's games? idk. seems weird to me. Root for the Colts.1 point

It's not IU at all. All the B1G and NFL. It's pretty disgusting if you ask me. Love Tom Allen. Good dude.1 point

Fridays are for the Flying Jets (sometimes it can also be everyone else listed on my profile), Saturdays are for the Wolverines (Michigan first & others I root for before, after, or at half), and Sundays (after service)/Mondays/Thursdays are for the 49ers. Saturday mornings are youth tackle and usually Tuesdays are for flag (this year it's all over the place).1 point

Should be an interesting night for football, if the weather is decent then Mac and NW should be ok. If it is raining then Mac and NW might struggle a little bit on offense. Peru and Cass might come down to who is more physical.1 point

I know he's not the most popular person on this board, but Tom Allen, when he was at IU, actually spoke out against the Big Ten's decision to start scheduling games on Fridays. Seems silly.1 point

Week 3 in the EIAC as the season is moving. Last week we saw some interesting games as Batesville almost falls to Milan and EC's winning streak finally ends. Lets dive in! Connersville at Greensburg Battle of the 0-2 teams. This might be either teams only win of the season. Greensburg stopped their game in the 1st quarter last week losing 35-0 and Connersville got mauled by FC. I think Connersville is the better of the two teams but not by much. (Spartans: 28 Pirates: 17) East Central at Cincinnati Moeller East Central drops their first game in almost two years last Friday. They will blame it on the fumble but can't let the zebras decide the game... East Central will drop another one this week as Moeller looks to avenge last year's L to Fabiano and company. EC will head into week 4 with a 1-2 record... (Moeller: 35 Trojans: 17) Franklin County at Rushville Rushville is a improved team but they don't have the dudes to compete with Franklin County. The Wildcats have scored 40 back to back weeks granted they have played not great competition. However, they still will come away with the convincing win as they head into their week 4 match up against East Central. (Wildcats: 42 Lions: 14) Milan at Lawrenceburg Milan had the lead with 1 min left last week and couldn't hold on to upset Batesville. Will they come out and "upset" Lawrenceburg this week. If they did I don't think it would be much of an upset IMO. I could see this game going either way. The tigers are struggling on offense and Milan will be stingy. Lawrenceburg will drop one to Milan for the first time since 2018 if my records are right! (Indians: 20 Tigers: 17) South Dearborn at Batesville Last year when these two teams played it was a close game with Batesville coming away with the W. However, both teams are much different and I think Batesville not having 20 from what it sounds like will make things harder on the offense than the bulldog faithful like to admit. With that being said, I don't think South Dearborn is a good team despite what their 2-0 record suggest. Bulldogs get right this week. (Dawgs: 31 Knights: 20)1 point

I've never understood why they would compete with HS football. They are eliminating tens of thousands of potential paying fans who would rather watch their local HS.1 point

I’m going to watch New Albany at Jennings County tonight. And I’m not listening to the IU game on the way home either.1 point

Great post. Pump dollars into your local community. A million dollars is way too much to tote a football, I'd much prefer supporting local high school kids.1 point
