I teach at Taylor and have taught at several other Schools. Indianapolis Arlington, Westfield, Indianapolis North Central, Northwestern and I worked at Sheridan for a while as well. Sheridan and Taylor are not unruly. Go spend a few days in IPS and find out what unruly is. Taylor is actually one of the better ran buildings I have been in since I left Westfield. Kids will bend to your expectations.... unfortunately, as a sub, no matter where you go, they smell blood in the water.

Last I checked, this is the Indiana High School Football Forum. I'm sure there's a similar platform for OHSAA schools and, as I'm sure several in this thread would likely inform us on, its likely MUCH better than ours in Indiana. Go Jets and great season to the Linton Miners!

So many places I could have posted this one, but chose here since the guy will be playing next season. It does lead me to thinking, how many guys will choose to stay longer in college now? Potential for better or equal pay; avoid being drafted by the Bears or the Browns.

Sagarin must like Notre Dame's margin of victory since they are #1 in his poll.

He's right above Charlie Weis so far on my list of favorite ND coaches.

I am confident that IU can win. I think IU would be 11-1 if they played Notre Dames schedule instead of their own. (The loss wouldn't come against northern Illinois though) It's just getting really old seeing people dismiss indiana, esp from teams whose schedules weren't a juggernaut either.

and...they win right. they never hooted and hollared.... they never danced around... never taunted. just took care of business and very sportmanslike the whole time. They coulda put more points on us;... they called off the dogs in the 2nd half. We hung about a quarter. They opened with a long TD drive, we responded with a long drive ourselves into their 30 yard line but failed on 4th down. Then they hit on 2 long TD passes.. and we fumble on our own 36 setting up another score. It was a long 2nd quarter getting hit with 28 points and being down at half 42-0. 3 turnovers didn't help... but it sure was an education...and our kids responded to it. I have nothing but respect for Marion Local.... I did all the research leading up to our week 1 meeting...and I saw nothing but hard work, small town ethic and support from their community...

I will be honest, Sheridan was never a place where the children exactly fell in line. Always been pretty rough, and willing to bet probably rougher 20, 30, 40+ years ago. I remember my brother telling me about a senior putting a cigarette out in his freshman locker....gold old days lol

Even though I am often in the predicting business I have absolutely no idea how this one is going to play out. I have doubted both teams all season and they have simply continued to win. I'd be shocked if its an IU blowout which is about the only scenario I am confident in.

My point is this is not a new defensive philosophy you’ve come up with here. Teams have been doing that for the last 12 weeks. And the Irish are still #10 in the country in rushing. To some extent, this game is strength on strength. ND’s rushing offense against IU’s rushing defense. Especially if there’s typical South Bend Dec. 20 weather. I’m not too concerned about IU’s pass offense against the Irish. I know their QB is good. But their pass offense isn’t in the top 50, and the Irish pass defense is #3 in the country. Bad weather, low scoring game decided, as they usually are, in the trenches.

Not much of a comparison. ND rush offense is #10 in the country. Ohio State is #59.

They are really good, they just have other people that are pretty good on their team too, so they only get to run the ball 170 times...and not 284.

ND is a better matchup for IU than Ohio State. Outside a gamesmanship 50 yard run at the end of the game, IU held Ohio State to less than 3 ypc all while committing help to Jeremiah Smith over the top. ND doesn't have anywhere near the WR talent, let alone depth that Ohio State does outside and should be able to keep an extra defender in the box to assist with the run. IU statistically has the best run defense in the country and will be by far the best ND has seen all season. Contain Leonard and force ND into obvious passing downs and the D should hold up. Offensively, IU just can't get behind multiple scores where they have to get off-balance with the play-calling . Despite the 25 yard loss credited to the punter on the drop snap and the bevy of Rourke sacks, IU ran the ball well against Ohio State with both backs despite the end game rushing stats...over 4 ypc. I think Ohio State has a better run D than ND although ND is very solid across the line. IU dictated the game up until the two ST miscues that saw the Hoosiers go down 2 scores quick. From there, Ohio State pinned their ears back and really brought the house as IU had to try and pass to get back in the game. If IU can operate around 3-4 ypc, should be able to extend drives most the night. A game like this is probably going to come down to a turnover, both teams take care of the ball extremely well and both are in the top 5 in the country in TO margin. Feels like a 27-21 type game, hope its IU. Should be a good one.

They did play with Bell JR (Defensive Lineman) in the backfield any time they got in side the 15 yard line and he was a beast running the ball. It seemed as though everyone knew who was getting the ball in that situation and nobody could stop them. It happened later in the season, but they had to get down to the 15. Their offense was a little baffling at times. They had Garnett III at RB who was a pretty solid RB for Westfield the year prior. He ended the season with 726 yards and 8 TD's much lower than I had expected. Their biggest struggle was QB play. One of their QB's completed 76 of 166 (45%) for 746 yds 6 TD's 9 Int's the other was 58 of 116 (50%) for 754 yds 7 TD's 6 Int's. There just wasn't consistent play at QB, one was a Junior and the other a Soph. And had great success with Bell at RB he was pretty much a bulldozer.

Cannot disagree. IU has to stop the Notre Dame run game to have a chance. And Leonard is a threat as a runner. IU has been solid against the run this season. I will say that Leonard's passing game has been suspect. He seems to hesitate a lot, and he waits until receivers are completely open before throwing the ball, instead of having the timing of throwing when they break or even leading the runner so he can catch the ball without breaking stride. he is so similar to Ian Book, but is a better runner than Book. For most of the season, I felt IU was the better team. Protecting Rourke will be a huge task. Will Notre Dame blitz much? Or just relay on the front 4? IU struggled most of the Ohio State game with blitz pick up, and for half of the Michigan game. I have not been impressed with what Golden dials up for blitzes. It's rare that the guy blitzing gets there. Far too often it's a safety that blitzes. As far as the other teams, I think Oregon is a bit better than all the others. The difference is the QB. Gabriel is really good. Texas' best QB has been on the bench most of the season. Ewers really struggles at times including both games against Georgia. For Georgia, how healthy is Beck?

Night games in general. Starts at 8pm, which means it will be close to midnight by the time it's over. If it's a close game you feel compelled to stay. Could be 1am by the time you get out of traffic, 3am back to Fort Wayne. Or pay $400 for a room at the Day's Inn, probably the best bet. Shipshewana for around $150, but still. Too damn late for me. Recliner, fireplace, pajamas, restroom and kitchen facilities steps away. Not a hard choice. I'm not 25 anymore.

Interested to know when Jasper will announce their new Coach....I think the right hire, and they could be higher on this way too early top ten list....

One question to ask is will the SIAC champion (since expansion) will go past sectionals? Only Central has done it in the 2020 Regional before losing to a game winning field goal to Mooresville. Since then, the undefeated SIAC champ has lost in: 2021- Jasper, First Round 2022- Reitz, Semifinal 2023- Reitz, Sectional Championship 2024- Memorial, Sectional Championship

The kind of administration willing to fire a coach over parents, is the same kind of administration that is afraid to discipline those same kids.. because of their parents.

He also never wanted to old Range Line Conference to end when it did after the 1999 season. Westfield and Zionsville were leaving for the new HCC. Wright was really PO'd at Westfield, because Westfield and Sheridan at the time had I believe the second longest continual rivalry going in Indiana. He really took it out on Westfield when they played for the last time in a non conference game in 2004, 53-7 at Westfield.

At least they do SOMETHING - here in good ol Indiana we just put our heads in the sand and act like it is a non-issue! I guess we have the success factor - almost worked to perfection this year with 5 of 6 public school State Champs.

This multiplier (below) doesn't seem so arbitrary....and it gets to the heart of the issue. Enrollment alone doesn't work for classification because the enrollment types are so catastrophically different. In addition....having to drive ones child to school....or a school having a newer squat rack than you doesn't give the publics any advantage, this is just silly. It's beyond comical to watch you guys try and defend such an unfair system. I just wonder how some of these "legend" P/P coaches around our state would have fared at ANY equally enrolled public in our state. I know the answer and you guys do too. It's not the coaches....it's not tradition....it's not feeder schools....it's not recruiting...it's not hard-working Catholic ancestry. It is and always has been about quality, coachable, success-driven student-athletes per capita in the building (as is the nature of a pay-for-play enterprise). Enrollment alone won't work....why do you think every state in the union struggles with this and there are all kinds of solutions across our country. Some are better than others but ours isn't enough.

Many thought this was the Mythical State Championship game. The SB Washington/WL game was played in a driving rain and the field was a sea of mud. 2000 fans braved the elements. WL kicked off to SB Washington and on the 2nd play SB's Ernie Zalejski ran 55 yards for a TD. South Bend Washington beat West Lafayette 27-0. This is an example of how good the teams from South Bend were in the 1940's. What happened to the teams from northern Indiana? Most of the schools in NW Indiana don't have very good football teams today.
