My saying that it's not always as easy as it seems to get any coach in the building had nothing to do with funding, but everything to do with a number of other issues. It may be easy to find the money, but if a school wants "Coach X" who teaches math for example and all they have are English openings, that may be a bit of a problem for "Coach X." It's not hard for the school: emergency licenses are easy enough to come by, but "Coach X" may want no part of teaching English and may well reject the job because there are no math openings. And it isn't always as easy as simply creating a math position for "Coach X:" at a larger school this is likely easier, but the smaller the school gets, the harder it is to just create a position from whole cloth if you already have a department that is fully staffed. And you can't always just shuffle the teachers you already have to make room, an administration would need to consider the internal dynamics of the teaching staff and how they would react. No doubt that many, if not most, administrations would and do pick their top candidate, regardless of teaching certification, and make it work; and no doubt that many coaches, who want to be at a given school, would and are willing to teach whatever is available; but to act like it's just as easy as the snap of a finger ignores a number of other important dynamics.

Imagine living 15 miles from the Ohio boarder and having to see people wearing Ohio gear everywhere. I swear people in Ohio wear that stuff on purpose everytime they come to Fort Wayne to shop.

Picked up some nice IU gear at a couple of Rally House Indy area locations. Nice selections. Even had some Michigan and Ohio State gear. Picked up some as well. Perfect for wiping my a$$.

The Bison was Indiana’s mascot in the 60’s. Currently a push to bring it back. Originates from the Indiana state seal. If you’ve ever been in Nick’s English Hut on Kirkwood, you will see the old mascot displayed through the pub. I posted some historical photos of the Bison mascot on the Indiana football thread.

I’ve never seen it done. In this case, they keep referring to it as a “fair catch” kick. Strictly speaking, it wasn’t a fair catch. It was an “awarded” fair catch, because of the kick catching interference foul.

Indiana 28 - Notre Dame 20, I think IU will move the ball well against the Irish defense with a couple long pass plays helping out. Defensively, the Hoosiers will stack the box to stop the run and make the Irish QB beat them thru the air. A late defensive stop by the Hoosiers will seal the victory. Having said that, if this game was in Bloomington as it should have been, IU would have won comfortably.

Reitz vs HH matchup in the Sectional would be very fun to watch.

I think you have to give the losing fan base a couple of hours to vent first. They might go through that "I hope they lose in the next round" phase for a few hours. Give it 24 hours though, and the IU and Notre Dame contingents will once again unite. Most fans root for a team from their general area. For me, it's the state of Indiana first, Big Ten second. I hopped on the Michigan bandwaggon in the playoffs, certainly not wanting to see another SEC champion. Jumping on nearby bandwagons is normal.

Covid, recruiting, location, success, facilities, the list goes on and on. I don't really care the "reason". Just seems incredibly ironic that Providence has a 1A enrollment for a small period of time and then once they win it all their enrollment all of the sudden increases to a number that would have clearly had them a class up. How convenient. As a previous poster stated, I am sure the 1A/Providence example is not the only one of this across all classes.

No…you are right. Would never replace Hoosiers. They remained Hoosiers in the 60’s with the Bison mascot. Their Army ROTC program today are called the Bison. If going to Btown and want to hit some pubs for game watching, suggest Nicks English Hut, Yogi’s, Upstairs Pub, Buffalalouie’s, Brothers, The Tap and CrazyHorse. Nick’s, Upstairs, Buffa all on Kirkwood or close. Yogi’s, Brothers, CrazyHorse, and The Tap on the downtown square area. All within walking distance.

Covid?? Really? It is always interesting that Fort Wayne Lures is at a 2A enrollment until the success factor pushes them to 3A. Then, they have a healthy 3A enrollment.

Providence in classifications 2019/2020-385 2022/2023- 327 2024/2025- 371 Currently 418 Last enrollment breakdown (2024-25) freshman-102, sophomores-104, juniors-87, seniors-78. As I said looks like smaller classes during covid enrollment times. Although now bigger then recent history.

Correct. I don’t put those schools in the list of football schools because they are not included in the IHSAA alignments and do not participate in the 11-man football state tournaments.

How long does it really take to enter them in a spread sheet and sort them? I feel like I could do that, seed the entire tournament, and do a selection show in the same day. I'm going to propose the IHSAA hires me to arrange their tournaments. I want to be called The Game Maker like on Hunger Games.

I wouldn't ever count SR out. This is bittersweet for me. While I'm excited about the prospect of competing for a 4a sectional and that being history, I will miss playing with the rivals.

Woodson's hire was 100% political. BOT chair Quinn Buckner has been calling the shots the last 4-5 years. He's going to be ousted here once his term is over. There will be a new IU bball coach next year.

If you have to give Woodson credit for anything it's him somehow being 3-3 vs Purdue. Archie Miller being 0-9 against Purdue is something I will never forgive him for.
