I am an advocate of neutral sites to host tournament games after the sectional round, and I think the football facilities in Indiana are capable of a format with neutral site hosts for regional and semi-state as we have in most other sports. All games would be played at locations with turf fields. This will reduce travel times and remove field conditions as a variable. It also gives schools an opportunity to showcase the investment they have made in their facilities. Here are my hypothetical neutral site regional games for this year. Neutral Site Regionals 6A Penn/Carroll @ Warsaw Westfield/Fishers @ Noblesville Brownsburg/Decatur Central @ Ben Davis Center Grove/Warren Central @ Southport 5A Merrillville/Michigan City @ Chesterton Lafayette Jeff/Concord @ Logansport New Palestine/East Central @ Greensburg Bloomington South/Floyd Central @ Seymour 4A Hobart/South Bend St. Joseph @ LaPorte Bishop Dwenger/Lebanon @ Yorktown Yorktown/Roncalli @ Hamilton Southeastern Martinsville/Heritage Hills @ Washington 3A Knox/Angola @ Wawasee Twin Lakes/Bishop Luers @ Wabash Cascade/Lawrenceburg @ Shelbyville Indian Creek/Gibson Southern @ Mitchell 2A Andrean/Southmont @ Harrison (WL) Adams Central/Eastbrook @ Bluffton Indianapolis Lutheran/Lapel @ Mount Vernon Linton-Stockton/Brownstown Central @ Bloomington North 1A LaVille/Pioneer @ Culver Academies North Miami/South Adams @ Huntington North Sheridan/South Putnam @ Tri-West Milan/Providence @ Madison2 points

I rarely find myself in the unfortunate position of defending Notre Dame or Indiana but alas, here we are. The Irish were within razor thin margins in weeks 1-2 and if you pull the tape, I’m even on record as stating I expected them to runoff 10 in a row and make the playoff. USC has been better than advertised and even Pitt is in the top 25 as of now. The ACC sucks, sure, but those are still power 4 opponents. As for Indiana, Cignetti is right. If you are a power 4 team hoping to make the playoff, there is absolutely no reason to challenge yourself in September in non conference games. Take the three gimmes and hope to get to 10 wins. Currently wishing Michigan had chosen to play Eastern Michigan instead of Oklahoma, lol.2 points

What's it like to talk about big schools all day and then pick the little ones more accurately2 points

Agreed. Especially at Lawrenceburg with all their shananagans, that drunken clown stumblin' around reciting poetry stinking up the place, and the higway 10 feet from the field... Place gives me the heebee jeebees! 😄2 points

New Pal only 65%? Implied odds on that is -185. That’s a car note bet right there.1 point

Well , you had Crown Point in the Northern Semistate . You had Carmel winning it all . Neither team is still playing , so anything can happen .1 point

Correction: Decatur Central 1% and Westfield 27 % One percent is being generous to DC and WC. Neither of those teams have a chance.1 point

I haven't been a Bear fan since the Bobby Douglass days, but I'm impressed with their progress since hiring Coach Johnson, nice name too!😉1 point

I was simply pointing out you left Oregon off the list. I remember seeing IU's schedule in the off-season, hoping they would get 1 of the Oregon, Iowa, and Penn State road games. Never dreamed they would get all 3. While I agree IU scheduled some easy wins, so does other schools. Ole Miss this week played The Citadel. Yet, I didn't hear a negative word. When I look at the ESPN College Football Power Index, I think Indiana gets the SOS thrown around unfairly. IU's is very comparable to ND, Ole Miss, Michigan, etc. Much better than the ACC, and overall SEC is tougher. (see below) https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi/_/view/resume This particular rating (late October) had Indiana at 24 and Notre Dame at 32. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/cfb/college-football-strength-of-schedule-2025/ Poor Purdue....now they play a tough schedule.......BTW, Kennesaw State is 7-2 and leads Conference USA with a 5-0 record. 😉1 point

Cut penn a little bit of slack You cannot defend Decatur Central being 4x more likely than them.1 point

But Indiana State and Kenesaw State were wins at home. No real cupcakes on the Irish schedule. And I want to add that IU is my second favorite team. I'm not the least negative to what they're achieved and become.1 point

Not many at all. Maybe 1 or 2 kids that play. 1 of the 2 started at AC then Bellmont & then to the Lutheran school in elementary & middle school. Then AC for high school. The other maybe MS at Bellmont and then HS at AC. You can PM me and I'll give you the details on why Bellmont is struggling. Bellmont could be in the same position as AC & SA if certain things would be done. I'm hoping all 3 schools are in different classes when these 7th & 8th graders are Juniors & Seniors.1 point

North put up a fight with that senior transfer qb, almost as if whoever had the ball last would win the game. I give the Legends plenty of shots on here yet they were a talented team that with the right coaching could have made some noise. The RB from concord put the game on ice late, the cutback was crazy, not ala reggie bush usc, it was a thing of beauty though. Michigan City seems to have some mojo, their stadium and fan support are one of the best I had the pleasure of seeing this year. I think the wolves may slip past those pesky pirates.. And yes, yes, New Pal will have two thanksgiving feasts this year...i know..1 point

If I remember correctly there is a whole thread for 6a talk. DC is doing just fine. Not sure what everyone was expecting. They were never going to be a favorite and they were never going to be a bottom feeder1 point

That's very cool. When I lived out in the DC area, saw a few Navy games at the Navy Marine Corp stadium including the Air Force game. Did see ND and Navy play the year ND won the natty with Holtz, but it was at the old Baltimore Memorial Stadium.1 point

I usually don't challenge complete bunk remarks, but I'm going to here. "New Pal has played nobody," has been uttered for the last dozen years. In the Kyle Ralph era, New Pal's non-conference opponents have been Kokomo, Decatur Central, Westfield, Brebeuf, Center Grove, Whiteland, Lawrenceburg, Danville and Richmond. All but one of those programs have been playing on Thanksgiving weekend in the last decade. East Central and Roncalli are confirmed for next season. NP faced a down Kokomo team this year (but when that game was scheduled, Kokomo was coming off a semistate appearance and had a lot of talent coming back), but then beat a 6A sectional champ in Decatur Central (on the road) the next week. Also beat two Sagarin Top-30 teams in Yorktown & Pendleton Heights. The "they don't play anyone" crowd won't be satisfied unless 1991 Ben Davis and 2006 Warren Central show up on their schedules. It's largely based on jealousy. I hear the same, "well, let's see how they'd do against a 6A schedule." They don't need to play a 6A schedule, although they've played five eventual 6A sectional champions since 2018, and beaten four of them. Also ... I've been around New Pal football for more than 25 years. All I've heard is "this freshman class has some talented kids." Nobody has said anything about them being "best in the state," because freshman ball is freshman ball and it's ultimately to help prepare for Friday nights. I think you're putting words in Coach's mouth, because he's not going to pump up a group that hasn't played a varsity game. Results in freshman games mean nothing on Friday nights because *those kids aren't playing*. (And I didn't know a two-TD spread was "dismantling").1 point

I've always said that the best thing about HS football is grown men (or women) arguing and talking trash about teenagers playing football on an anonymous online forum... Looking forward to the matchup of unbeatens to see who gets to take on Andrean in semistate.1 point
