Simple, the SEC....again....was simply overvalued. Missouri and Tennessee didn't beat a team with a winning record the entire year and were ranked throughout up until the final poll. We were fed the narrative all summer and all season long the the SEC was 11-12 teams deep. At the conclusion of the season, there isn't a single SEC ranked in the top 5 of Sagarin, ESPN's FPI, and SP+, all predicative and analytical rankings that I take much more seriously than any human poll. Get ready to to do it again all over. Rinse, wash, repeat.5 points

It's not. The fact is the school jumped the gun thinking people would be knocking the doors down to get the job. Instead, a number of schools stepped up to keep the coaches they have; to the tune of a combined $370.8 Million.3 points

Welp, Looks like Pitt is the new leader of the Pack in PA! If you have NO successor lined up; you DON'T fire your HC mid-season! The Nittany Lions are now officially: Irrelevant for a while in the BIG10 (or 14-22 whatever) 🤯2 points

I think Michigan State becomes a player quickly, $390 million dollars donated to the athletic program. They will be deep into the portal and now they have Fitzgerald as head coach1 point

The fall count day enrollments for this year have not been released by the DOE yet, but they should be available soon. I’ve posted the DOE enrollments shortly after they are released for the past several years, and I am glad to continue doing so again this year.1 point

At the end of the day, you're recruiting class is still the bread and butter of the program. That's where Penn State is going to struggle.........at least for a year anyway. And honestly, there's not a coach in the country that can do what Cignetti did with the precision that he did it at. I'm still going to say "stock down." This whole thing just has a bad vibe to it.1 point

Yes we were right. 🙂 I still contend the current path is unsustainable. This is season 2 into my prediction of 5 years before something significant gives way and leads to only a minimal or symbolic connection to a college or university. Another unintended consequence is seeing a depletion of resources to the Olympic sports on campuses. There is a lobbying group set up to protect them, but with no controls whatsoever, I am not sure the effort will gain anything.1 point

I think the lesson learned here is that you better have a target and know that there's, at minimum, a 95% chance you're going to land your target before firing your head coach. But you're right, they probably thought that if they couldn't get Cignetti or Elko, other top prospects would be breaking down the door. Something tells me Matt Campbell is going to get swallowed up in the B1G. Stock on Penn State is WAY down.1 point

Brooks Austin likes Ohio State to win the championship. He was asked which team matches up best with them. His answer: Notre Dame. That's saying something coming from an SEC guy and a film expert. I guess maybe I'm not as crazy as some on here think I am. @Footballking16 @Komets27271 point

Think of charter schools as under-funded public schools. Most of the charter schools in Indy are in the IPS district. The schools themselves often do well, but their athletics struggle. Especially in football where numbers matter.1 point

There was a donor at Michigan State that gave $400 million dollars with $290 million earmarked for the athletic program. Just in time for a new coach, Pat Fitzgerald, to try and save the day. Look, any school that wants to compete at the top level is going to need to spend $25-$30 million dollars each year in football. That is the new normal, until it rises to about $50 million a year in 3-5 years.1 point

When you have a QB at Duke?! making $8 million dollars this year with NIL, no it isn’t an exaggeration1 point

I really don’t understand why this hasn’t gotten some traction on the GID. It’s the only fair way, right?1 point

Did they cannibalize each other? Exactly one bottom half SEC team beat a top half SEC team; Florida over Texas back in September. That's it. The bottom of the SEC was terrible this year. Florida lost to South Florida. Arkansas lost to Memphis. UK lost 41-0 to Louisville. South Carolina lost at home to 6-6 Clemson. It's an overrated conference and has been the last couple of seasons. But ESPN has too much stake in the game to say otherwise.1 point

One of the least enjoyable things in my life is having to go through Seymour on U.S. 50. Have you noticed a decrease in travel time or is it still a nightmare?1 point

Cam McHaney '26 - (IMG Academy/Lutheran) signed with IU. Indy kid, and significant contributor as freshman/sophomore to Lutheran state titles in '22/'23 before transferring to IMG. So I'm counting it.1 point

The final Sagarin rankings since realignment are listed below. The conference was punished for its poor post season results as 2025 only had five teams finish in the top 100. 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 21 Central 25 Mem 35 MD 26 Reitz 21 Mem 40 Mem 38 Castle 26 Jasper 42 Reitz 34 North 41 Castle 65 North 46 Jasper 31 Castle 48 Mem 52 Jasper 46 Reitz 78 MD 56 Mem 44 MD 49 Castle 56 Mem 57 MD 87 Jasper 77 MD 69 North 60 Jasper 62 Castle 77 Jasper 92 Reitz 90 North 86 Reitz 86 North 65 Vincennes 96 North 125 Castle 134 Vincennes 125 Central 95 Vincennes 105 Bosse 114 Vincennes 132 Vincennes 137 Reitz 135 Harrison 156 Harrison 107 MD 151 Harrison 198 Harrison 213 Harrison 148 Bosse 199 Bosse 212 Harrison 214 Central 218 Central 255 Bosse 150 Vincennes 243 Central 247 Central 236 Bosse 285 Bosse1 point

Well, if he did have any question in his mind about LSU, that most likely closed the deal.... He was scarred after that experience....heck, I am just watching it!!1 point

Assuming the current push to round up illegals has had some impact but Seymour’s enrollment system wide dropped about 200 IIRC. Seymour has had a pretty consistent enrollment until the immigration deal happened and were well on our way to being 6A within the next two counts.1 point

Pass interference Roughing the passer Roughing the kicker Holding Unsportmanlike The defenseless player nonsense (unless hes lost his helmet then u can call what you want) Illegal man down field And honestly if you could just do away with halftime somehow that'd be great Thanks bob1 point

Ha....Boonville was adamant they didn't want to be a member of the SIAC - but have no problem scheduling Bosse and Central in their open weeks. I better not type out the rest of what I'm thinking...1 point

And I would agree to a certain extent. I would love to see us add a quality opponent and if it was you guys or HH who would be (normally) sectional opponents I'd be fine with that because it would be a great games, good gates, etc. There is no reason for us to continue to play Lincoln.1 point

You forgot maybe the most important reason: It's makes game scheduling a lot easier for AD's.1 point

1A would be so terrible and watered down. I've never heard a 1A team complain about it so not sure who this really is for except people who only care about big boy football1 point

The best version of Success Factor: Cannot be bumped unless you've won on Thanksgiving weekend (seems obvious....but IHSAA gonna IHSAA) Rolling 2 year cycles (has been added) 2 points to "Stay" (we used to have that...winning your sectional each year isn't good enough to stay up?) No P/P in 1A (😇...hate me if you want. It's the right call)1 point
-
Use to be 4, then it was 2, now it's 3. If it was 2 originally, LCC would have stayed in 2A instead of dropping back down to 1A and picking up a couple of state titles back in 2015 and 2019 before heading back to 2A.1 point
-
Not a fan of teams needing 3 points to stay up. Should’ve stayed at 2 points.1 point
