  2. I was on an airplane last week. They told me to wear a mask, and although I didn’t want to, I found it best to toe the line for the sake of others.

  3. The observers have been advised that we will receive officiating guidelines this week. It has been emphasized that these are “guidelines,” subject to a lot of fine tuning before August. Stay tuned. By the way, there were plenty of times when I was officiating when I wished I had been wearing a mask! 🤣

  4. It is close enough to July 6th. Just like the previous topic, this one spiraled off course. Seriously, some of you just need to put each other on ignore.........SERIOUSLY

  5. It can be frustrating that HS football fans really really focus on what have you done for me lately, but end the end it's all that matters. There are more than a couple "tradition rich programs" that have faded in Indiana. "Tradition" in high school football is much like the stock market, past performance doesn't guarantee future results. That said....had a blast watching the Big 8 from 1974 to 1985. My memory fades but before an extended downturn in the years following, Gibson Southern was 84-37 in that 11 year period and Lincoln was 57-60...I believe. I am sure Lincoln will soon return to the glory they had from 1989-2006. I know the Lincoln fans LOVED coming to watch all those Friday night wins in those days. I'm really SUPER excited to see what coach Levi Salters can do in the SIAC.

  6. DST isn't the issue...the issue is the SW and NW corners of the state being on CST. I think it is nuts that any of Indiana is on EST...just my opinion.

  9. My hopes is that people can be adults and do what's best for them. If corna scares you then do your part and don't associate yourself. There is 0 anyone can do to prevent this 100%. Is just not going to happen. If your fan and worried about the spread then stay home and don't go. Make sure all the players understand the risk and if they choose not to play then that's OK. If being a ref worries you....take time away until you're comfortable. Nobody has to do this. But shall you decide you want to then do what you can to minimize the spread. It won't be prevented. Im sure this thread will end up locked as they all have and I hate it always gets political but people have to take care of themselves and if you're worried dont put yourself in a position to be around people unless its mandatory. If it is then wear a mask, social distance, and bring sanitizer. Do what you can. I recently went back to work at a casino and everyday are 100s of people who are 80% the high risk and 0 of them care. They pull their mask off or down the moment they can. They care more about not being able to smoke then social distancing. I personally am not worried about catching it and do know the part about not having symptoms and possibly passing it at work, but again....they arent trying to stop themselves from getting it. If you don't agree that is OK. I respect your side of it. Im not going to argue points about it. This is MY opinion. I hope a vaccine comes soon and we can get back to arguing about city speed because at this point it would be 100% better then it becoming political or arguing over freedoms. Everyone stay safe and take care of yourself. I hope this season is better then most expect.

  12. You might find this interesting, but I am not one of those that is against a return to competition. I would just like to hear someone in authority tell it like it really is. Something like this: ”Yes, we have a plan for return to competition. We understand that by resuming high school football we will almost certainly experience increasing positives, despite the fact that our return to competition guidelines attempt to minimize that. Some kids will get sick. Some will transmit the virus to others, including the vulnerable and, as a result, some people will be hospitalized, and the odds are that some will die. However, we believe on balance that a return to high school football provides value to society that exceeds the likely downside. Therefore, we will be playing this Fall.” Isn’t that what’s really happening?

  13. @Bobref I concur with both your observation and comment. To add my own comment: a lot of industries, excluding trucking and rail transportation, are hurting for revenue. This, unfortunately, is leading to a disregard for safety.

  16. @Coach Nowlin Oh how refreshing it is to talk about football again! For Boone Grove, I would have said that they would be a contender this year if not for the fact that the up and coming QB we had is now playing for our rival Wheeler (which is a team that will be very good here in a few years), which puts us in a bit of a rebuilding spot. The upcoming senior class is strong, but not as strong as last years senior class. It's nice to be mentioned here in some top ten picks! From a pure statistical standpoint - we lose our QB/FS (122.3 rating, 751 yards passing, 702 yards rushing, 8.3 yard avg - 104 tackles, 4 sacks (as a safety!), 7 interceptions), our RB (9.3 yard avg, 2470 all purpose yards, 32 TDs), our FB/MLB (537 all purpose yards, 7.0 yard avg - 183 tackles, 9 sacks, 3 interceptions), our solid DL (56 tackles, 14 sacks, 4 caused fumbles), and a total of 15 seniors. The up and coming senior class is strong, but they have some super sized shoes to fill in our conference. We return our kicker and some very solid skill players in this class, as well as a few lineman. We will need to fill some gaps with some underclassman.

  17. I'm encouraged by the open mindedness of the new Leadership to consider change. It is needed in regards to current playoff system. I'd love them to expand the discussion to review neutral sites for Regional and especially Semi Sate games. One step at a time I guess. Also agree 100% with DT's last post, it is home field advantage for local Indy schools. Hard to deny this fact. Having said that, I still think Indy/LOS is the ideal location to host and it's encouraging to see new leadership open to ideas/ways to mitigate and get more butts in seats.

  18. I would think it would be very difficult to attempt to draw any valid conclusions from the data, since the only real endpoint is who won the game at the finals. And there’s always going to be the issue of who is the better team. Assuming the statistics that show a disproportionate percentage of wins by Indy area schools over the years, who is to say that the Indy teams aren’t just better?

  19. Let’s see if your “analysis” can stand up to a little cross-examination, just for the heck of it. Do you have any kids attending public schools? Did you know that a public school student in Indiana, by the time he hits the 6th grade, is required to show proof of multiple vaccinations against diseases like pertussis, polio, measles, varicella (chicken pox), mumps, rubella, Hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, tetanus, etc.? That’s a lot of needle sticks. Your body, your choice. How do you feel about that?

  20. I must say...all of you, my PAC friends..are why I keep coming back to the GID. Maybe one day, the annals of Indiana high school football (post 2012) will include Lincoln amongst the elite. Because, of course, nothing prior to that should be taken into account when measuring a program.

  21. Don’t take this as a complaint- the inconveniences of the situation are well worth the chance to play for a state title. Every Hs football player would be willing to trade a lot for a blue ring. Specifics? Mainly travel but here are some examples. Time change. Had Andrean won SS last year, they would have played an 11 AM Central kickoff. Rensselaer/ Mater Dei back in 2014 featured two teams from the central time zone. Do you spend the night before in a hotel or leave really early to drive the 2-2:30 hours? Media day. Monday the coach and team captains travel to get pictures and meet with IHSAA brass. A minor inconvenience for Chatard, Carmel, and Center Grove. But this was most likely a 5+ Hr round trip in a car for Memorial, East Noble, and Heritage Hills. They probably don’t make it back for the start of practice as well. Practice. If they want, those teams can choose to take another 5+ hr round trip - but this time in a bus for a practice at Lucas Oil. New Pal, WeBo can take their hour practice at LOS, head back to school and finish normal practice. An Evansville school has to give up pretty much a whole Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (Thanksgiving) if they want to practice at Lucas. Hotel issues- Black Friday and the tree lighting take place downtown Friday in Indy. If you don’t want an early drive (or like to tailgate!) parents, fans, coaches’ families, plus alumni who have informal reunions all are trying to coordinate where they are staying. I concede this is a self-imposed issue, but it still is a distraction that Indy area teams don’t deal with. I don’t think it changes the outcome - but just take a look at Heritage Hills schedule for regional and semi state, and then throw another two trips to Indianapolis prior to kickoff on Friday.

  22. Why, so we can act like we care about the spread of something with our kids, but go to the store and work without regulation. Kids aren't dying.. in fact unless you are really unhealthy you aren't dying either. All these college teams finding players that have it asymptomatic means nothing more than the fact its running rampant and its not as dangerous as thought before. Sweden never locked down and they have numbers like a bad flu season. All this has become so political and everyone is terrified because of sensory overwhelm with the media. Proof is in the pudding.

  23. I’m flattered that GS is able to use a VL sectional title as motivation. I really am. But shouldn’t such a prestigious program as Titan football have it’s sites set higher?

  24. I cannot disagree with him. So, what happens when players in each sport choose to not return? This will be an issue going forward. What about college athletes and coaches who are not comfortable? High school coaches and teachers? In my mind, there is still too much we just don't know. Keep in mind, we are only 4 months into this.

  25. Boone Grove lost over 90% of their offensive production with graduating QB, RB and FB @Graphic Context will be best to speak on them, but I know they were VERY SR dominated last year.

  26. Didn't say you did, was asking you a question since you were calling out states that opened up and had the spread. Spread could have come from some of your so called "moderate" friends that came back home after their traveling looting and rioting show.
