  1. Given their start, is Ben Davis a possible contraction program?

  2. Why is it when there are local teams playing on TV, we always feel the need to tear them down. Congrats to Brownsburg, way to rep the Hoosier state!

  3. My experience with travel softball tells me #2 will start to be disregarded, and #3 wears off pretty quickly.

  4. Yeah they have Zen Michalski, OT, commited to Louisville. Pre-Season All-State. Wenkers Wright, RB, committed to Illinois State(D-1 FCS). Pre-Season All-State. The guys that have really stood out are QB Tristan Polk, 533 yds, 7 TDs. And Kaleb Quenichet 12 catches, 336 yds, 5 TDs. I don’t know if those guys will get D-1 offers but they’ll play CFB somewhere.

  5. Both teams got their first wins of the season last week. Monrovia beat Edgewood, 20 - 8 and Linton winning at Sullivan in overtime, 22 - 16. Monrovia will be coming into Roy Williams Field with some confidence. Last year's season was winless for them so they have to feel good about getting a win this early in the season. This will be the 12th time these 2 teams have played with the Bulldogs holding a 6 - 5 edge. I'm glad they started this series. The program is a good one and the fans have always been great. The last 2 games between these 2 teams have been shutouts. The Miners won 35 - 0 last year and in 2018 the Bulldogs won 23 - 0. I don't expect this game will be a shutout for either team this year. Harrell's website is predicting the Miners to win 31 - 7. I'm thinking the first team to 20 points will win this game. Safe travels for our Bulldog friends.

  6. East will have played a Top 10-15 schedule in the entire state after the 3rd game.. Not going to find many teams that played a tougher 1st 3 games. Having watched East vs Whiteland week 1 I thought for sure we were going to start 0-3... but whatever Gaddis and that team did in practice last week really turned everything around. They looked excellent (minus about 8 minutes of gameplay) against North. Defense laid some HUGE hits on kids, the East O-Line really looked good and super physical.

  9. Coach Webb has done a great job with Tell City so far this year and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. The staff he has now is top notch and the players believe in them. Hoping he doesn’t have to deal with any teachers/parents trying to undermine him during the season like in years past. That can hurt a team

  12. I will help 04 with team write ups this week...... 1. Central - After two weeks, they have the best resumé. No doubt they belong at the top. 2. North - Off to their best start since 2016, the husky dogs are playing good ball. In years past, beating Castle and Memorial back to back is as good of a two game stretch as it gets. It doesn’t carry the same weight this season, but the boys in green are legit SIAC contenders as it is possible for two undefeated to face off in week 9 for the title. 3. Reitz - CJ has them at 3, and Reitz comes in slightly overrated IMO. Under new Coach Brunson, the boys on the hill look to regain an old form as the dominant force in the SIAC. 4. Southridge - Back to back shutouts for the men in black. Good win over traditional 1A/2A power Linton followed with a shutout of Boonvegas and their D1 RB has the Raiders primed for another good year. A lot of new faces this season, but no drop off from the Ridge so far. 5. Vincennes - They are a late game shenanigans TD by Reitz away from a 2-0 start in their new conference. 6. Jasper - topled the champs in week one. Haven’t proved much yet, but the Cats have a long tradition of winning. Expect them to challenge for a top 3 finish in the SIAC. 7. Mount Vernon - A new coach brings a new outlook. The Wildcats have a hunger for winning with Coach Messmer, a former Southridge player and coach. They have aspirations of winning a PAC large school title. 8. Castle - tradition alone says Castle won’t go down without a fight. This season is no different as they lost a close one vs North, and found a way to win a defensive struggle vs MD. 9. Tell City - The Men of Troy are looking like contenders in the PAC small division. Is 8-1 out of the question? Or better yet? 10. Forest Park - The Danger Rangers under coach Fuhs have started 2-0 for the first time since 2011. Big time showdown in week 3 vs TC. These guys are turning a “basketball school” into the Gridiron gang! HM - Memorial, GS and MD

  13. Just based on this, I think if they played 10 times, X would probably win 7-8. But they only play once, and you’ve got to tip your cap to B-burg. They never stopped playing hard and sometimes, if you’re talented like they are, that’s enough. Great effort by the Bulldogs, and it was rewarded.

  14. So after two weeks with no real issues, aside from one crew who were apparently really uptight, can we assume: 1. The officiating is pretty good. 2. No one is there to see the bad officiating. 3. Fans are so appreciative to see HS Football they don’t care about bad officiating.

  17. Want to know a secret? Want to know why some teams seem to have a knack for winning the big games? It’s a mentality developed by searching out the best teams you can find to compete against. Competition like that takes away the fear of losing. And going into a big game, if there’s no fear of losing, chances are you’re going to win. Coach Berry and his program are awesome. I’m a big fan.

  18. What the heck are you guys talking about?? Did Linton really make a QB switch this week?? I thought the QB they had the past 2 years threw a good ball...he was just under immense pressure last week for Southridge...to judge his performance based on that would be unfair IMO

  19. Yet another example why the simplistic primarily enrollment base classification system used by the IHSAA is flawed. It's overwhelmingly about program, not size. And only a system of promotion and relegation would crown a true Indiana state football champion.

  21. That Bergman kid last night played extremely well.. along with Tryce (the kid wants to run you over constantly). Parker Harrison did his normal Parker Harrison things and played well... (21 tackles against Whiteland is outstanding as well). Hoping to continue to improve like @Fogertyputmein said. 1 week at a time.
