1A State Tournament: OFFICIAL Thread

One week to go in the regular season but with the draw being last night, figured it'd be as good a time as any to generate some discussion around the 1A tournament.

The north portion looks pretty wide open on paper as a handful of squads who are heavy sectional favorite could provide for a must see regional round.  This seems to be a very balanced side of the bracket.

In the south, it appears that the two best teams are in the same sectional in South Putnam and Riverton Parke.  They would meet up in the sectional title game, should chalk hold.  South Putnam's lone losses are to 3A Edgewood and 4A Northview, whereas Riverton Parke has yet to be challenged.

Springs Valley and North Decatur appear to be the best from the other half of the south bracket.  The Blackhawks have been rolling people, though their schedule strength barely cracks the top 300, whereas North Decatur's lone blemish is to 2A powerhouse Linton.

Temp's Title Odds:

South Putnam:  30%

South Adams:  25%

Pioneer:  10%

North Judson:  10%

North Decatur:  10%

Carroll (Flora):  5%

Riverton Parke:  5%

The Field:  5%

A little out of your element talking about the little guys? Haha. Springs Valley vs North Daviees this week will clear up North Daviees question marks. Feels no mention of the defending state champ is a mistake...Providence looks pretty good. Decent schedule. Sophmore QB. Potential 2nd round matchup between SV and Providence will be fun.

Riverton Parkes is supposed to be a year away but maybe they’re ahead of schedule. The Tenderloin- South Putnams winner will meet the winner of the hillbilly bracket for the south semi state. And RP will run the table in the regular season next year as well. I swear to God they will

I'm not convinced...could you say it right to my face?

Haven't seen them play, but have been very impressed with their scores. If they are bringing a lot back from the team this year, Riverton Parke might be in 2A in 2 years. Hopefully they have more talent and numbers coming up after these next two years.

Week 12 will show where the Tenderloins are. 5 of their 6 top linemen are jrs.

There's a good possibility 3 of the 4 sectional champs in the north come from the Hoosier North conference.  They'll join South Adams in the regional.  

Personally, I think Pioneer could rep the north.  But we'll see what happens this week when the Panthers visit North Judson.

There’s at least two. Noah Dodson could play at any level. He’s 6’2 225lbs and he’s a beast on the field. Next would be Foxworthy. Only true pocket passer in the WRC. Best natural QB we’ve seen in a long time. Might not be D1 right now but they could play at any level

There's not a D1 player in the WRC this year, last year or on any roster currently.   There may be kids with size, but ultimately speed separates athletes at each level and there is not a varsity player on any team with D1 speed for any position in the WRC .

Per the IFCA Poll, looks like only team in the top 10 that will play a team with an above .500 record Friday night is South Adams. Maybe the ping pong balls were taking some seeding into account this year.

Ok, I'm ready to say Pioneer is my favorite from the north.  They handled Judson soundly last Friday and hung with 3A undefeated Knox until they wore down.  (McLaughlin will do that to you.)  I'm curious to see how long Frontier can hang around with the Panthers, but I don't see Pioneer getting beat by them.
