Pioneer @ South Adams- There are a lot of factors going into tonight's game that point to a Star Fire victory. Home field, no long bus ride, used to playing on turf, an offensive style the Panthers haven't seen, multiple offensive threats and a very stout defense. It will take an all out near perfect game, but I like the Panthers in this one in an extremely close game.

South Putnam @ Milan- I think that the Eagles cruise in this one early and maintain through the final horn. Milan has had a great season but South Putnam's schedule has prepped them for this moment.

First off, Congrats to Pioneer. Pioneer was the better team tonight and controlled South Adams pass attack well for majority of the night with a good game plan.

With that said, these officials in tonight's game should never be able to ref this level again. Late in the fourth quarter with 5 minutes left, Pioneer is up 24-8 and forced to put. Pioneer punts and tackles the punt returner before the ball gets to him and they do not call a penalty. Chaos happens and South Adams tries to get on the ball thinking it touched the returner and pioneer recovers the ball. That play in itself is not the reason South Adams lost the game so don't think I'm saying that. Pioneer was winning tonight regardless of that missed call. But on principle, you can't miss that call at this level and continue to call games in the final four.

Thanks for listening to my TED talk and good luck to Pioneer and South Putnam next week

I just went back and watched that (I was flipping back and forth at that point between games and missed it live)…..that’s a ridiculous no call. I don’t understand why these crews cannot come together and have a conversation to get the call right. The officiating has been generally subpar throughout this tournament. It’s the blatant disregard to throw a flag for something obvious right in front of their faces that gets me riled up…..WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING!?!?

The IHSAA and the coaches whose games that crew has worked have seen fit to put that crew in the state finals … twice, and in the semistate more than double that number of times. There’s a decent chance you’ll see them in Indy next weekend. But you would disqualify them from ever doing what the people in the know have repeatedly said they have earned because of one alleged missed call in one game. You would never hold a player or coach to that standard. You, sir, are part of the problem.

I’m going to look at that game film and I’ll tell you whether I think they missed one. But regardless of whether they did or not, your position is absurd.

What do you think?

I have been around the game of football for countless years (watching, coaching, playing etc.) and this is probably the worst call I've ever seen. I was at the game, standing in the end zone and I don't think SA even touched the ball. If that call would have gone the other way I think the game could have gotten very interesting especially because it wasn't raining in the fourth quarter at all and at that point it was only a two score game. I think the back judge just panicked because I don't think one could possibly not throw the flag there. Its an absolute disgrace that SA's season had to end that way.

It happened with about 6 minutes left in the 4th for anyone that wants to watch.

Temp’s Updated Title Odds:

Pioneer - 55%
South Putnam - 45%

You think? I’d flip flop it.

both very tough teams though.

interesting enough, both teams had a big let down last year in playoffs. Did those losses fuel this 2025 run?

South Putnams has been close but always ran in to Lutherans and Providence last year. I’ll put $10 on them if I can get my mom Phyllis to cover for me

MaxPreps has that score reversed.

I use MaxPreps for my score updates and the score reversals have been an issue all season.

I'd guess South Putnam's run has been less impressive thanks to Milan clearing out the other big hitters. Think SP might have a size advantage up front and that might be tr he difference. I wonder if their defense will be disciplined enough to handle the tricky Panther offense.

South Putnam has beaten a big physical Riverton Parke team, Sheridan and Milan all running some form of Wing t, Single wing, or flexbone type offenses. They should be prepared for Pioneers offense. That isnt to say pioneer might not be the best at running the offense. Should be a great game but got to go with the Eagles in this one. The Eagles have a combination of speed and size that is not common at the 1a level. I have seen most of thier games on film and even against the likes of North View they didnt look under sized. The scariest part of it is the roster is loaded with Jrs so if they happen to lose I'd look for them to be back at Lucas Oil next year as well.

Agreed, Coach. I've seen them play quite a bit too. It took SP overtime to finish off RP, but they seemed to handle Sheridan and Milan fairly easily. That being said, I think they are well prepared for Pioneer's ground attack.

Should be a great game. But I think the Eagles will win.

If I was South Putnam I wouldn't even worry about practicing defense this week then 😁

Lets not forgot they beat a very tough and physical Mustangs squad in the sectional also. In that game they saw a offensive scheme that was masterfully crafted by coach King.
