  1. Been here a long time....this thread is top 10 for one of the dumbest conversations ever.

  2. Glad this family was able to make this personal decision to benefit their son. That's the way it should be. Now I'm going to shuffle off to a 2A thread to avoid that whiny Sheridan announcer complain that benefits like this should keep parochial schools out of 1A.

  3. It should have been left at 2 points to start with rather than the current 3 points. If you can move up a class and either win a Sectional two years in a row or a Regional one of two years then you are in the appropriate class…..insofar as the purpose of the SF was intended to be.

  7. The IRONY of it all.....to read his apology it was behind a paywall....... I read his apology, made no reference to the actual main issue, NOT THE HEART gesture....nope it was the ole "do that back to me, we will be just fine". line was the absolutely brutal.....then half the room laughed....equally vomit worthy.....

  8. Doyel has carried the woke flag on numerous occasions. Shouldn't he play by the rules he lives by?

  9. I actually heard that, upon the announcement that Faith Christian was going to go to 11-man this season, some 20-25 players from the LCC football team became Baptists and will be attending Faith in the fall. Lord, I apologize for that there.

  10. Sheridan's turf work has begun. These pictures are from last Wednesday I believe. On Friday, I saw about 70% of grass completely gone. Also, the design for the completed turf.

  12. today i am going to introduce you all to the strategy that guides my betting, for educational purposes something tells me if you want entertainment to read quickly as usual if you take me seriously it is your own damn fault I call it the circle line dot NP strategy. first a few rules/suggestions 1. beware of special teams that break the system, such as EC the last two years. 2. high volume of small bets 3. look for fans of teams to bet against, not neutral people - for instance: it is a lot harder to get @temptation to take only 19 points for a random team he isn't affiliated with, then it would be for say the father of the quarterback of that team 4. you're going to be betting on a lot of potential blowouts, once you find your target fan, throw out arbitrary numbers that aren't as lopsided as they seem, and then double down until they are sick of your arrogance and their ego accepts your terms. ok now on to the meat of the betting strategy: bet on teams inside of the circle of victory bet on teams south of the line of dominance bet on teams at the dots of success (if you think your team should be on the other side of the line or inside the dots it probably should, i did this on a track pad leave me alone) and last but not least "NP" the notable privates you know who they are, dont be afraid to put your faith on memorial, or andrean, vs some of the less notable schools under the line, but be weary of the circle finally: don't play yourself, if you lose betting on ips schools its on you not the system

  14. Brewer has proposed this rule before, and continues to propose it because Yorktown volleyball can’t win state in 4A. The entire reason for this is so their volleyball team can get moved back to 3A and win state again. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like the proposal is getting much support. Similar results to the polling occurred at other spring principals meetings. In my opinion, the point total to stay up was appropriate at 2 points per cycle. If your team is good enough to win 2 sectionals or 1 regional in a class above your enrollment, you are good enough to stay up. The change that was made for this year was not necessary in my opinion. It was proposed by Jeff Doyle from Barr-Reeve, who is an executive committee member, and was again motivated by a successful volleyball program. The position on the executive committee should be a good indication of how it got approved.

  15. I am still waiting on Doyel's apology/retraction article for claiming fans at the Indianapolis 500 would be the most irresponsible thing ever, that there is no way that college football could be played safely in 2020, that JJ McCarty was unworthy of anyone's Heisman vote and that Carson Wentz was the most selfish person on the planet. Dude is a fraud. But he is protected because he is a southpaw. A righty would have already been fired.

  16. No one in my mind has been more woke than Doyel over the years, especially going beyond sports to dive at political issues such as covid vaccines, (picking on certain athletes while letting others off the hook) civil war monuments, gun control, etc. Hard to earn much empathy from the local reader base when they have read his countless attacks over the years in the Star and on social media. His apologies through the Star and social media....many not sure they are sincere. Live by the sword...die by the sword.....

  19. The trophy says IHSAA (Year) Football Champions (Class) Which is accurate. They are the state champion of that class. Are there some years the 6A State Champion might not be the overall State Champion/superior team? It's plausible. I think if you win your class, you earn the right to be called a State Champion.

  22. I say this was the inevitable result of the NCAA’s stupid policies over the years — which have been replaced by NIL & the transfer portal. This is like a state legalizing cannabis. Do you let the people out of jail who broke the law when it was illegal? Do you automatically expunge their convictions?

  26. With the recent seeding proposal shot down quicker than ...well I can't come up with anything "catchy" - but anyway, with it being shot down it got me wondering. The NFL/NBA commissioner has to answer to the owners of the league. Who does the IHSAA "brass/higher ups/executive committees" quote/unquote have to "answer to??" Like...who hires these positions? And...who/do they have bosses to answer to? The IFCA presents a proposal for seeding...the IHSAA just says "NOPE"...and that is it?? The IHSAA decides they are going to do this new 1A-4A classification thing for non-football sports...and they viola - it happens! Meanwhile, their is a big contingent that thinks it would be a better idea in football to have the biggest 32 in 6A...smallest 32 in 1A, then rest split evenly...but the IHSSA says - NOPE!! I will admit I am ignorant on the whole deal so there may be an easy answer to this...but sometimes it just seems to me like the IHSAA higher ups are like the almighty OZ.

  29. You guys also seem to be under the impression that principals give two shits about seeding. Certainly some do, but for the masses, nobody cares. And make no mistake it is the principals who pull the weight, not the AD’s.

  37. I’ve long stated, if you’re a sports fan, I can drive within an hour of my house on any given Friday night and see a quality athletic event for 5-6-7 bucks whatever it costs to get in. You can not beat that entertainment value anywhere. And I’ll never get my panties in a wad investing in our youth. You want to talk about property taxes, let’s examine why every cop in the state is driving a new SUV, why local police forces need APC’s, and all the high tech gadgetry that they do to basically enforce traffic laws and bust high school drinking parties.

  38. Is this what your hatred is really about? Because you didn't get to play on it, you feel kids today shouldn't? I believe in wanting BETTER for kids today than what I had it. Turf solves a lot of problems for some schools. Take Sheridan. By adding turf, not only does our football program get a top-notch field to play on, but the soccer games can all be moved to the turf as well. For the past forever, they have been playing soccer on a very outdated soccer field that is off-campus, raising concerns for student and fan safety. The old soccer field will now be town property, where the plan is to build a new larger capacity salt barn, which obviously benefits the community. Also, the band will get to utilize the new turf. Moving their practices from the blacktop parking lot where they have been since before the 00s, to a safer (and cooler) turf field. Are some schools changing to turf just to spend extravagantly? Sure. However, to assume that EVERY school is doing that, is naive and ignorant.

  40. Also, I will add that the IHSAA has shown before that they will consider "competitive balance" and not just geography when determining sectionals ...in our own wrestling sectional Floyd Central and New Albany were both added (driving right past Jeffersonville, which is 10 minutes away) in order to try and even out the competition. Take that for what it is worth

  42. for me, the question is not something that can be broadly answered For Maconaquah, to Frankfort, to Carmel, to Rensselaer and all in between all have different needs Public Education is not a 1 size fits all The issues that could face Carmel are not the same issues that face East Chicago nor Castle. (reference, picked a north school, middle state school, southern tip school) So Muda, question cannot be answered by me, because from your home in the county/city/town you reside could be enough, for you, but for your neighbor it may not just like it may not be enough for another public school district elsewhere

  43. Not speaking for @BTF, but I think you are oversimplifying his comment. I believe BTF is implying that taxes at a local level impact you at a much more personal level than federal taxes. I think most can agree that taxes are a waste of money, but I would rather pay more money to local taxes than federal taxes. Big, bloated government taxes/spending at a federal level hurt everyone. Also, I think this thread was made to discuss which schools currently have turf and which schools do not have turf. @btownqbcoach1 saw the future, when he posted "I am sure some will take this thread as an opportunity to try and discredit/get butthurt about turf... but... meh." Boy, was he right....Maybe you should start your own thread "TURF SUCKS, SOD RULES"

  45. In an NFL locker room, their are LEADERS, not 1 sole entity, yes, the QB is the lead voice on the offensive side of the ball, no denying that, its just incredible that some of you want to cherry pick media narratives to drive home your narrative that a player who has won an Heisman while playing the position of QB is going to fail as a leader in the NFL because he sat pissed off on the bench, he showed emotion in the stands with his family and has chosen different fashion choices with finger paint and phone cases........ Except for Michigan sign stealing drama. lots of smoke, no fires. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/uscs-caleb-williams-hopes-viral-video-of-him-crying-helped-spread-awareness-for-mental-health/#:~:text=Following the 52-42 loss,a positive impact on others. USC's loss to Washington last weekend was an emotional one for Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams. Following the 52-42 loss to the Huskies, Williams found his mother in the stands and cried as she comforted him. That moment has garnered a lot of attention over the last week, and Williams hoped it had a positive impact on others. On Wednesday, Williams spoke to reporters and said he is an advocate for mental health and wanted to be his "authentic" self. "Me doing just what I did on Saturday, even though it was far from what I was trying to do or anything like that, it showed and spread that awareness that I may talk about when I don't have tears in my eyes," Williams said, per USCFootball.com. "It just shows truth and what I speak ... Being authentic is important." Williams also noted the loss really stung because of how badly he wanted to get a big win for his teammates. "That's who I am," Williams said. "That's just simply who I am ...That was raw emotion. Being human. Being myself. Someone that cares about this team, these guys and winning especially." https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-analysis/ex-nfl-star-gerald-mccoy-has-powerful-message-for-critics-of-caleb-williams-crying/540535/?amp=1 Gerald McCoy has earned to speak with his NFL career in my eyes: YEA, What a LOSER, BABY, POOR LEADER.....

  48. I'm not sure if they do or don't. All I know is that this forum gets a hell of a lot more views than what's coming from just the members. I think the GID offers a lot of good information and insight on important topics. Enough so that I think you'd be surprised at who really views many of these threads. I'm willing to bet that 90% of all head coaches check in, at least on occasion, to see what's being discussed. If that's the case wouldn't some administrators be curious once in awhile as well? Maybe I'm giving the GID too much credit, but I doubt it.
