  1. Every D-Coordinator at the SNAP... "HOLDING, HOLDING, HOLDING, HOLDING" 😜

  2. Why no love for Sagarin? It’s not his fault that some conferences are “closed.” Except for the closed conferences, for whom the algorithms he uses don’t work well, his system is amazingly accurate at predicting winners, especially in the playoffs. He doesn’t sit in an office with a pencil and a green eye shade figuring out which teams to disrespect this week. It’s all math once you develop the algorithms. You folks who do nothing but complain because the Sagarin rankings don’t jibe with what you think should be the order, let’s see you pick against Sagarin and do a better job over the long haul. Believe me, you won’t.

  3. I for one am not impressed by GS. I think they smell like stinky cheese. Every year since about 2013 their posters come on here proclaiming this is the year they win state and all I ever see is them running back to Gibson southern after an embarrassing loss and crying and complaining about how they have the wrong Hart as coach. I would put money on Gibson northern, eastern Gibson, western Gibson, or even Gibson central to win state before these down right smelly Titans do. Mt. Vernon might even play their JV squad just to make things interesting. Fear the Wildcats!!!!!! Gibson Southern by 30+

  4. I think schedule strength may not be doing TippValley any favors. Outside of SB Washington, they have the lowest schedule strength of the teams in Sectional 26. I'd give the inside track to Marian right now in the sectional, provided they don't get beat up too bad playing Elkhart. If TippValley wins Sectional 26, they should win that regional. As @Yuccaguy said, things get tougher after that regional given that semi-state probably goes through Sectional 28. Even Guerin, at 1-5, is a danger from that Sectional ... their loses coming against, from the Coaches' Poll, #9 2A LCC, #6 2A Heritage Christian, #1 3A Brebuef ... who also occupies The Sectional of Death, Sectional 28 ..., #1 4A Roncalli, and #9 4A Chatard.

  5. 2007. The Wildcats beat Memorial to win the sectional 24 (now 32) championship. I would argue the regional was bigger but it was AT Heritage Hills not MV. Very memorable in SW Indiana because the Courier Press ran an article on MV the week leading up to the regional with some inflammatory quotes about the game. In 2008 MV refused to speak to the news media because of it. Ahh, the good old pre-Twitter/Snapchat days. 😃

  6. So your issue then, clearly, is the teenage kid that you, as an adult (presumably, not quite sure at this point), are continuing to call out on a public forum is in danger of hurting an opponents feelings? Because you should be specific for what the flag was thrown for... not the block (the U didn't throw it there), not the pancake to the ground (the U didn't throw it there either), but getting up and trash talking. Kudos indeed to the official for watching this entire play from first contact through the pancake block and not throwing the flag until the play was over and said player stood over the kid on his back. That was four full seconds from the time the kid hit the ground, the OT immediatly stood up (no lingering), and looked down on the DE. THEN the U pulled the flag. Count four seconds out, starting from zero. Go on, I'll wait. Use your fingers if you have to. Ok, now tell me with a straight face the official threw that flag on anything but what might have come out of his mouth as he was standing upright over the DE. I had thought your issue was with how "dirty" this kid was and that he was going to get someone hurt by playing to the whistle and performing violent, while extraordinarily legal, acts in the field of play. But I was clearly mistaken. I now see your concern is obviously vested with ensuring the DE on his back doesn't have to hear that his momma REALLY IS fat, or whatever nonsense trash talk comes out of a 17 year olds mouth in the heat of the moment. Thank the good Lord above we have these fine officials making the calls on the field and not, well, you. We'd never get home on a Friday night.

  9. I don’t know if the math allows that or not … and I’m guessing you don’t know that either. But if he could, why would he? He makes his living by supplying ratings and statistical analyses for college football and the NFL. Do you think he receives any remuneration for putting together the ratings for Indiana High School football? We should be thankful we have what no other state has for high school football. And the reason his algorithms don’t work for closed conferences is that no college conference or NFL division/conference is dumb enough to have a closed schedule. The only reason conferences have that in Indiana is ease of scheduling. Always playing the same schools in the same order reduces the potential for growth.

  11. No love for the Trash 80? I did my best programming with one of those. I also had the snazziest pocket protectors then too, but that’s another story.

  13. Well, here we are! The final third of the 2021 regular season of the Indiana high school football season. One burning question . . . since LaVille and Winamac lost their regular season HNAC game. Any chance the two get together on October 1? Glenn (who is supposed to play LaVille) and West Central (who is supposed to play Winamac) wouldn't lose a regular season as they could play each other. Pretty each switch . . . One minor issue is that one of the two - Glenn or West Central - would have to lose a home game to help make this happen. One bright spot, one set off officials would be available. The Winamac-LaVille game was supposed to be at LaVille, so the Glenn officials could head over to LaVille for the HNAC game and Glenn could take on a new opponent. In the big picture of things, however, that's likely NOT going to happen! The LaVille-John Glenn game is too much of a backyard rivalry. In any event, who ya got this week? Friday, Oct. 1 Culver at Caston ©, 7 pm Knox at Pioneer ©, 7:30 pm LaVille at Glenn, 7 pm North Judson at Triton ©, 7:30 pm Winamac at West Central, 7 pm as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

  18. Jakeone is excited about this Luers team, and rightfully so. I'm sure it bothers him that Sagarin doesn't have an accurate read on the SAC. Everyone knows Luers, Snider, Carroll, and Homestead are all Top 20 programs. Bingo. You and everyone else on this forum. Don't get so worked up. It's not the ratings fault that the SAC is closed.

  20. It has been known that the Bears o line has been bad for several seasons now. The front office has done next to nothing to address it. It was a glaring weakness today.

  21. Also in the NFL, if it's within 2:00 of the half or game ending, a fumble can only be advanced by the player who fumbled the ball. If another teammate recovers it and advances, it's returned to the original recovery spot. I just saw this happen in the Bucs/Rams game. I was today years old when I learned about this rule.

  23. Both statements can be true. Whoever was responsible for making sure the Bears showed up with even an average NFL offensive line this year should be tarred, feathered, and ridden out of town on a rail.

  24. Not a fan of the night time games; they start too late and end too late; but this will give us a clear view of how good this team is......or isn't. They have struggled in games in Frisco, so hopefully they can change that trend. Defense really needs to step up.

  29. It’s a free public resource. I’m just glad we have it week 10/11 is generally the most accurate because SAC and SIAC finally play out of conference…as well as most of the state. until then….sagarin is just a way to look and be like “well this team is certainly good”

  31. This is the important point. Kelly is finding out that his OL is a work in progress. He needs a more mobile QB than Coan. Buchner will be the starter by the time I go to the Navy game on Nov. 6.

  32. Just remember, any foul that starts with “roughing,” is 15 yds. and an automatic 1st down: passer, kicker, holder, snapper.
    1 point
  33. It's actually pretty accurate as you get deeper into the season. Obviously there is a flaw with the SAC since they only play each other, but it works itself out in the playoffs. The reality is that the SAC has four teams that would more than likely qualify for Top 20 overall, but Luers is the highest ranked team at 82. It'll fix itself.

  34. Roughing the snapper/kicker/holder/passer is 15 yards and automatic 1st down. Running into the kicker is 5 yards and replay the down, unless the LTG has been reached.

  40. You will never see that happen. Heck, even the public schools often have to raise funds to support their athletic programs. I think too much education funding goes into their capital fund for building and grounds improvements…and not enough goes towards paying teachers (which, let’s face it, ought to be their highest priority). But that’s a whole other debate.
