I'm not sure what we're using for measuring more with less, but I'm going to go outside the box and say Indiana School for the Deaf. In addition to traditional issues associated with fielding teams, toss in academics plus hearing-impairments ... classroom-related, field-related, and life-related ... and then throw in that the school has 121 students. Hats off to the families, admin, and kids for making it happen!3 points

I’ve had some very interesting things happen at the coin toss, but not that one. Nowadays, we simply don’t let them make a mistake. We ask the coach ahead of time what the choices are, and if the captain says something different, you can have a little fun with him. “Bzzzzzz… Wrong answer, but thanks for playing.” You can thank Jerome Bettis and Phil Luckett for that.2 points

I have no issues with Center Grove being on the list. They're on a pretty good run despite being half the size of the largest school in their class and 700 students shy of eight other schools. How about New Pal and what they've done sitting at 1175? That's right up their with Pioneer in my opinion. One thing the Dragons have done that Pioneer hasn't though, is beat opponents 3-4 times their enrollment.2 points

According to the Evansville Courier, Strickland and Allen will be roommates at Purdue after this semester.2 points

Not knowing this tradition you speak - sounds great, does it come in Eye of the Tiger fabric? 😎👍1 point

This is going to be controversial but I’ll say CG. Punching above their weight in the MIC when you look at enrollment compared to the rest of the conference/6A.1 point

Andrean they limit enrollment by selective enrollment. This suppresses their numbers and lets them play in a lower class. They do more with lesso source https://www.andreanhs.org/admissions/apply-to-andrean.cfm1 point

No they only save that for Center Grove and cry baby's like yourself! Nothing better than letting a crybaby about officiating from the 1990's to hurt their feelings with a game on Natural grass. Not sure what Cathedral fans you have been conversating with. However Defensively is not one of the weaknesses I have observed with Cathedral. They are pretty stout and dominant defensively. On Offense they can have their moments! I am not sure how you can speak about weakness defensively when it literally took until Semi-state before a TD was scored in 1st quarter (including CG) and only a couple games 2nd quarter (even CG didn't score in Q2). In fact the few points they have given up were in 2nd qtr. Most games it is against the number 2's that points are scored. Now offensively they have some bad spots but are up and down. Defensively they seem fast and play well (minus the penalties they get here and there). Still it will be closer than some may think. More of a defensive battle between the 2 teams if you ask me. When it comes to closer games, I don't see that being a problem for the Irish with who they have played even though they have blown out teams in the post season.1 point

Not sure how many more times I can doubt Northridge before I learn my lesson but I’m gonna do it one more time. Mt. Vernon wins this one 31-21.1 point

Playing on turf for a big game is just a ihsaa conspiracy against Cathedral because they believe that big games should be played in the mud at a stadium that has a great tradition such as Arlington middle school.1 point

IMO, Sheridan is a poor example for making your point. They are public and dont think you'll get alot complaining with that. Now, if you want to bring up LCC and their run of 4 straight and 5 out of 7 a couple years later than Sheridans run, then there was PLENTY of complaining !1 point

Yes that's TY's son. He's a freshman WR and so lines up on some kick returns.1 point

Kyle Park was one of the best regarded assistant coaches in the HCC (Zionsville) before he took the Goshen job. Goshen did little to nothing in regards to coaching hires. You can’t build a 5A program with a staff made up of mostly lay coaches, and small few full time contract people in the building. I can’t imagine how anyone who knows football thinks you are going to get a better candidate. Anyone who knows football knows the admin is doing nothing to support the program in the way of getting coaches hired. You aren’t going to “build” numbers in 5A program when you have so few coaches teaching in the building. Firing Coach Park was a way to put the blame on someone else, when the admins won’t put the effort into the program. They fired the best candidate they were going to get.1 point

Interesting thought here or question I guess does Joe Strickland goes easy on Brady Allen if he has chance to hit him hard since they will be teammates next year?1 point

On the flip side…having a freshman team as a 3A school or lower is a huge advantage. Creates the solution of “reloading not rebuilding”1 point

Disclaimer: I am a Packers fan just like my buddy, @Irishman The timing of this is next level-bad, or in line with their thinking. Nothing can be gained from this as it puts the team in a very bad spot. I really don't think they have an end game here, very few good coaches would want to jump aboard this sinking ship.1 point

I was secretly hoping I'd imagined the whole thing all these years! Still a chance to reach some even more rarified air for a couple of coaches this weekend.1 point

I read in the Evansville paper that there is a chance for a unique feat for 2 of the games. Mt. Vernons Coach Lidy and Gibson Southerns Coach Hart with a win would become the first to be a father son duo of state championship teams in Indiana Coach Lidy’s father winning with the 94 castle team and Coach John Hart with Reitz/Warren central. Hopefully one or both can get the W this weekend…just pretty cool that that it’s never been done before and we have 2 chances to see it happen this weekend1 point

#2-Warren Foster and his family working chain gang Friday night at the semi-state game at Ames Filed between Zionsville - Michigan City. Warren has been both working chain gang and has been the official score keeper for Elston, Rogers and MCHS for the past 57 consecutive seasons. Friday night was his first ever semi-state. Warren Foster is somebody who should be enshrined in the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.1 point

1,2,3A will be good games until the end. 4,5,6A may have some exciting moments but will be forgone conclusions in the 2nd half.1 point

The system will work itself out...next two years in 6A if we fail to maintain that class level then we go back down to 5A. I agree and you are correct our roster size is as big or bigger than 6A schools. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I think the freshman team had close to 50 players this year. There will be some attrition of course as that morphs into JV like at any other school.1 point

Here's a thought....how about we just focus on football and not personal jabs? mmmmk? Yeah, that'd be GREAT.1 point

The season is here... Here is the schedule for this week... Tuesday, November 23rd Clay City @ South Putnam- CC should be improved with a solid Junior class gaining a lot of varsity experience last year. I don't know much about SP, but they had some athletes on the football. If those guys are basketball players, Clay City might be in trouble. North Daviess @ Loogootee- This always seems to be a great game. Both teams lost some key guys from last year, but return their best player(s). It is hard to go against Mullens... he does a great job control the game from his PG spot. Bledsoe will be the go to man for the Lions. I think the studs on both teams are fairly evenly matched... it may be the unknown role players that will be the deciding factor. For ND... I'd watch out for Britton... he can shoot when left open. Loogootee will spend a lot of defensive effort containing Mullens, Wilson, and Wilson. As for the Lions... Isaac Eagle is a capable player who could step into a bigger role this year. Whiteland @ Eastern Greene- A 4A school is usually a tough matchup, but having only 2 returning varsity guys along with some uncertainty about the health of at least one of those guys... Looks like Eastern's baptism by fire for their young players will start right out of the gate. Wednesday, November 24th Bloomfield @ Owen Valley- This should be a big win for the Cardinals. Atkinson was a do it all player for the Patriots, but he is gone. Bloomfield won last year... they are better. Indy Metro @ Linton- Linton was without 2 starters for their scrimmage against Evansville Central... Smith is likely out until around Christmas. Webb should be back much sooner. I think he practiced a little on Saturday, but they will need him to be 100%. Even without those two guys... Linton looked good against Central on Friday. Their biggest concern for Metro will be their 6'10" center. He looks to be good near the basket and on the boards. I still like the Miners in this one. Joey Hart is still going to be the best player on the floor... and his supporting cast is capable. On a bit of side note... Ayden Riggleman stepped in to a starting roll in the absence of Webb and Smith... and he played well. It would be good to have another shooter with all the defenders/playmakers on the floor. North Knox @ WRV- This game always seems to be close. I think North Knox should be better, but not be enough to keep this from being a good game. Saturday, November 2th Shakamak @ Rivet- This will be a good chance for Coach Crowe to get his 1st win. JT May lit them up from outside last year. I don't know if Rivet has the athletes to stop May from scoring. If they do... this could be interesting. I'm guessing Shakamak will win by double digits. North Daviess Tournament- Their 1st game will be against Evansville Day... I don't know anything about them. I'm guessing the Cougars will win. The 2nd game says they will play North Posey. I don't know anything about them either. The Ricketts brother were there a few years ago, but I'm not sure if the younger one is still there. Hulman Center Classic- Bloomfield will play Cloverdale. Bloomfield should be a good 1A team... Cloverdale should still have the Thomas boys. The older boy should be hard to handle. I don't know as much about the other one. North Central vs. Northview- Both teams will rely heavily on their guards. Clark will lead they way for the T-Birds. Northview will be led by Noah White (former TH North player) and Drew Cook. I watched a little bit of Northview this summer. Cook looked to score, while White ran the offense. North Central might have a size advantage. Linton vs. Park Heritage- Linton won this match up at Linton last year, but PH had the last laugh playing in the 2A state finals. Johnson & Johnson will lead the way for PH. Christian Johnson is an explosive scorer, while his brother is a solid wing. I'm not sure what they have around them. Linton could be 2 starters. Walters did a great job of neutralizing Christian last year... I think Linton has a solid supporting cast. With or without Webb, I think Linton will win.1 point

GS has nothing to apologize for. They've worked hard for a long time and earned their success. Go kick some @$$ and bring another football title back to southwest Indiana. As far as I'm concerned, its a pretty special club down here and GS belongs. Enjoy the week. Nothing better than a practice on Thanksgiving. Make sure your kids are hydrating like never before. WIN IT!!1 point

BTW, due to the Pacers playing Friday night on Fox Sports Indiana, the 5A championship game will be moved to an off channel. If you have Comcast that channel is CN81.1 point
