I have completed my 1st step of the "Blue Bloods Spreadsheet". It's currently 8 pages and has a lot of data in it so I'll try to cover what it does and does not do. Each class has a page tab at the bottom, with the current class assignments sorted alphabetically. (Thanks to the IHSAA for reclassifying after I started working on this). 😒 On each page it lists all the success factor points each team accumulated per year using the current success factor formula since the all in tournament started in the fall of 1985. It then totals all the points and gives you a yearly average. You will see yearly averages and points earned for the following time frames - ALL YEARS, 1st 28 years 85-2012, past 25 years, past 20 years, past 15 years, past 10 years, past 9 years- the addition of the 6th class, and past 5 years. It does not care what class points were earned in, you carry all earned points to your current class. Unfortunately I don't think the data is sortable in it's current form without copying it into a new spreadsheet, which is what I did for the 6A leaders page. This is due to how many changes and merges of the cells so I apologize for that, but I plan to eventually do a leaders page for each class. Finally I'm sure there are mistakes, errors or omissions. I've probably fat fingered some info into cells it does not belong, or screwed up a formula somewhere. If you see something questionable, let me know and I'll research it and get it corrected. Also some schools have not played in every tournament or new schools have opened since 1985 and I'll have to make adjustments for them in some of the formulas. I've done some, but not all. Just to give you an example of what was being spoken about when the news broke a few months ago regarding Carmel/CG having no one to test their junior varsity squads, particularly in the country club sports… 43 athletes finished the 1600 meter run in this meet. 41 were from Carmel. (And they left girls at home.)

The teams at the bottom have owners that have shown they are not investing in their teams at all. The entire A's roster is at $33 Million for a year. There are a number of players making more than that this season. Fans do not react well to poor management by the front office. Interesting that Atlanta is where it is. It's one of those cities that a lot of people move to for a job. Even back in the 90's on their deep playoff runs, the stadium did not seem like a sell out. I think some places are low because the weather has just sucked in a lot of places. It has been cold with a lot of rain and snow around the Great Lakes; and only Milwaukee can close their roof. Interesting to see the Dodgers in first. They are famous for late arriving crowds and low early season attendance.

Major league attendance this season....6 of the bottom 10 teams are American League teams. Teams that have had the DH in place for a long time. Should I believe that the Dodgers, Cards, Braves and Padres attendance is due to the DH? (focus on the highlighted home attendance) Oakland is packing them in....2700 in the stadium yesterday......7 teams avg less than 20K at home....another 17 avg less than 30K at home. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/oakland-as-see-record-low-attendance-number-for-second-straight-game/ DH is interesting....but as the past studies have shown... little correlation with attendance......

St. Mary's is starting a "sprint" football team with a weight limit of 173ish pounds. I have heard some rumblings of another Indiana school starting a sprint team to begin play in 2023. I am all for giving more students - especially males - an opportunity to get a college education first and continuing to play football, even if they have to eat nothing but salads to do it.

We knocked off Lawrenceburg in the Regional (now semistate) and then North Judson in the final. Two pretty big and hard-hitting teams. I may be a little bias but we were pretty good too.

If you have not heard yet...the Reitz community lost a freshmen Tuesday night in an accidental death. The school announced that it was Kaden Vera...younger brother of Roland Vera. So sad for that family and the community 😔

Same in Texas, but with 6-man. Only know of a couple schools who went up to 11-man, since I've been following, but many schools who went from 11 down to 6. Some schools are destined to more or less stay at their current enrollment (geographical, economic, other reasons) and for them, fielding an 8 or 6 man team is better than not playing at all IMHO.

Baseball is not the same game as used to be. Batters are looking to hit home runs all the time. If not, a strikeout or walk. The running game is almost eliminated due to the need for power. Starting pitchers are only expected to pitch 5 innings. The bullpen is the most important of the team right now Utility players have more value that ever in the game. The DH saves moves to eliminate your bench. Have to start looking at the game differently

What makes you think I don't? I just don't buy that pushing the DH into the NL makes the game better or more marketable. Especially to a younger demographic. Professional sports, baseball included, stopped marketing to the family and went after corporations. Families were priced out or stuck in the nosebleeds. So kids (unlike my generation) didn't go to the ballpark in the numbers of the past. As a result, those kids that are now ticket buyers that didn't grow up in the ballpark don't care now. They have other interests. They have little to no tradition. If they truly wanted to bring the game back, they would make it more affordable to the family.....that includes tickets, concessions and parking. Generations care because they are there to establish love and tradition. If not, why should they invest their time and significant dollars? In addition, MLB started to play politics, hoping to pull younger folks....at the end of the day, they didn't care and some of us older folks that would prefer politics kept out of our entertainment, were turned off. MLB is reaping what they sowed.
