The Deaf School used to use this giant bass drum for their snap count. It was right behind my HL the first scrimmage down. I swear he came 5’ off the ground!3 points

Knute Rockne developed a pretty good relationship with the area high schools. Mishawaka and South Bend played their annual rivalry game in Notre Dame Stadium from 1925 through 1946. In the heyday, crowds of 30,000 attended. As for the '21 Notre Dame freshman team... consider this. The backfield contained the names of Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Crowley, and Elmer Layden. How cool is that? Those names should be familiar to ND fans. Here's a little clip from the freshmen section or "Green Team" from the 1921 Notre Dame Football Review:3 points

I remember my first experience with a cannon. I was in my first season of varsity officiating. I was a back judge. North Judson had a cannon behind one end zone. I didn’t notice it … until a kid caught a TD pass right at the end line. As I was holding my picture perfect TD signal, the thing went off about 20 yds. from me. I wish someone had measured my vertical then. Almost certainly a personal best.3 points

Battle of undefeated teams #1 PAC Big school vs #1 PAC Small school Gibson Southern coming off a huge game and huge win and now have to go into Southridge Southridge quietly dominating all year and I believe they have only allowed 1 Td through 4 games. certainly not trying to count chickens before they hatch….but if there was a conference championship game between the big school and small school division….this would be that game2 points

GS needs to play team football Friday or SR will be happy to hand us a loss. Sounds like SR is playing lights out D and they can methodically grind out yards and points on offense. If our heads come in too inflated by the results of the first four games and we forget to reset to the new week and focus, SR won't mind popping the collective bubble for us. GS takes it if they keep playing team ball like they have been. Exciting football to watch!2 points

Several schools are doing this with the newer lighting systems. To be honest I’m not a fan….but I do like it better than the damn cannon.2 points

While I am a devoted Irish fan, I went outside the box to attend my first Mudsock game last night at HSE. With the Cathedral / Chatard game ending up being a mis-match made me all the more happy with my choice of game to attend. Holy cow. Estimated crowd size was around 8,000 and if you didn't have a seat at 6:15PM you were standing. Game lived up to expectations with HSE winning by one point in OT. If you never attended Mudsocks Game, do your self a favor and put it on your list.1 point

Michigan looks good but I don’t think they’ve done anything to jump Ohio State. Hawaii is arguably the worst FBS team in America and Colorado State just lost by two scores (in a game that wasn’t that close) to a Middle Tennessee State team who lost to an FSC team by 37 points last week. They play UConn next week as well.1 point

But they got paid something like a cool $500,000 for the contest. Which is a large amount of money for a school the size of ISU.1 point

Its a good list..lower class programs will always have a hard time breaking that stigma..kiser led pioneer..smith led luers..not sure they could have had teams in the top 25..if so would be at years end..1 point

Is this the worst the SIAC has been in years? Central and Bosse=Dumpster Fire Harrisons = worst offense I’ve ever seen, better on Defense MD, North, Castle , Vincennes, Jasper= Not really impressive. Most years would finish under 500. Objectively they all have flaws that good teams don’t . Memorial= still who knows??? Reitz = won the off season recruiting and it shows on the field. Maybe Lucas Oil future1 point

I imagine that the wife of at least one of those burned cars' owners turned to him after the opening kickoff and said, "Are you sure you locked the car?" to which he replied, "Quit nagging me ... nothing's going to happen to the car. You're always worrying."1 point

The Irish have passed out of the top 25 in the coach's poll for the first time since 2017. I'm still on the bus with Freeman. It's too early to get that crazy, but yesterday was as ugly as I've seen any Irish team play at home, especially against a 20 point underdog.1 point

When I get a minute this afternoon I will go through the old threads and dig up your posts dancing on Kelly’s grave and anointing Freeman the savior before he ever coached a regular season game.1 point

How exactly do you handle island conferences since there are no “common opponents” that they can play. I see you had two from the SAC, but none from the SIAC. Truthfully, I don’t care if a team is on the list or not, ultimately, their play will do their talking. I’m just wondering though.1 point

Dude seriously I’ve listened to you bash coaches and administrators as long as you’ve been here. It’s not like people are standing in line to take all of these coaching positions. I suggest you get involved and make the changes you seek. It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and bitch, put up or shut up. I see youth, MS’s, even Frosh games every day that need help. Here’s your shot to fix everything at FC. I saw Highland Hills last week, I’m sure they have another coach’s shirt to fit you. My guess is you’re not the type to actually do any of the work, you’re they type who would grab the ear of any school board member who’d be willing to listen. FYI for the group, the 8th group from Highland Hills was pretty good, their 7th grade team ran a fairly sophisticated passing scheme. This could be a group to watch. They rivaled any on the Columbus Central teams during the Kiel years.1 point

Marcus Freeman is the first Notre Dame coach ever to start 0-3. The first two loses were to top 10 teams but today was a major disappointment.1 point

This is the most disgraceful Notre Dame performance I've ever witnessed, and I've seen a few in my 79 years! I cannot believe they went into a prevent with more than 9 minutes left. The safeties were almost on US 31 during the beginning of that drive.1 point

I mean I almost always just listen to the radio call so it really depends how they call the game. from what I could tell South Warren had a lot of false starts and a few offsides. Then there were some that were bonehead plays like late hits or unsportsmanlike At times the broadcasters thought that there should have been some DPIs against SW. that was about it but I don’t think the broadcasters knew that there is a 4 ⭐️ DB on south warren and a number of other college worthy kids on that defense. It’s more likely that those kids were just great athletes and it was a bang bang play on the ball my take away was that GS was much more disciplined than SW. most of SWs calls were entirely preventable. GS on the other hand had I believe 1 false start and 1 holding call outside of the kickoff issue so it was a pretty clean game. I feel like the game was called fair. I’m biased to GS but I don’t think anyone can argue that the refs didn’t call a fair game. Most of the penalties were essentially presnap including the illegal kicks.1 point

Aside from that did we do OK? Pretty easy game to work. Players played, coaches coached, we did our thing. Always a great atmosphere at GS.1 point

Warren Central lost its Homecoming 32-20 to Lawrence Central. First Homecoming loss in nine years, first regular season loss in 5 years, and the Warriors' second straight loss to the Bears. I have no words for Warren Central anymore1 point
