  1. I'm one of the guys who made the Top 25, as well as created the charts and such. Thank you whoever shared the link. I know the list is wild and out there, and some teams should be on there, like Memorial, Castle, and Boonville, etc. (Castle was close to top 10 on the list week, and dropped after the loss). We base our list on how well the teams are doing in their own divisions. Like are they just dominating their competition. How well they perform against bigger schools, we look at SoS and other indicators. We also look closely at latest success. Its nothing perfect, and of course probably has our own bias mixed in, but we feel that we're getting a pretty good list together. We think of it like a College AP Poll, with a lot of teams moving in and out. Like someone else said above, its a conversation starter. Something we wanted to make to shine light on Southern Indiana teams that don't get to much hype, but are still pretty good. We're fine that's it a topic of debate, and yea, we do mistakes, but we can own that. For us, its all about school and players and getting that spotlight back out. Some of the schools may not be considered Southern Indiana schools, we get that. The way I pulled the data focused on Sectionals, and if we wanted to cover a school that was in a sectional, then we covered that entire sectional. We're trying to remove as many Indy related schools from the list, but some like Triton Central. Every school we cover should be a Southern Indiana sectional group. Anyhow, happy to join this forum. We're Southern Indiana Sports Network and trying to cover sports in the area, our website is www.sisn.me

  2. Maybe one day Memorial and Castle can elevate their programs enough so they too can included with powerhouses such as North Decatur, North Posey, Perry Central, Tecumseh and Paoli. Whoever created this list really needs to call his proctologist and schedule a cranial removal.

  3. The 1980 team had high expectations I recall, then opened with a horrible home loss. Felt like the low point was the 1983 season with Sam Wyche's one and done before landing the Bengals gig.

  5. Congratulations to the MJHS Football Team on a great season. The 8th grade/A-Team finished the season with a record of 7-1 and out scoring our opponents 284 - 46. Against conference opponents, they were 5-0 and only gave up one touchdown. On the season, they had 15 different players score either a touchdown or a 2-point conversion. They averaged 193 yards rushing and 57 yards passing per game.

  7. They’re borderline 3A in a 1A conference. They’ll get blown out of the sectional. I swear to God they will

  8. Hello! Each year the guys at Gridiron DIgest work very hard to make sure that we can chat about Indiana High School Football. We can brag, support our local team(s), trash talk (within reason), and make predictions right here on Gridiron Digest! I am not one of the guys. I am not a paid-promoter. I am just a supporter of what these guys put together for the benefit of us, its loyal contributors. Right now the budget is about $1,200 short of the target for the year. If you have contributed or logged on to read, please consider making a contribution. I have made my contribution. Will you consider joining me in supporting The Gridiron Digest? I know the guys will appreciate your contribution. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

  11. RP moms think I was sincere about planning to sabotage the Riverton Parke jalopy wagon and now they are storming the field after the game! This is going to be a tough weekend for Wolves fans. The only bright side is I don’t have to watch @KAllen ‘s bald head streaking around the town square since he’s getting bottle service in Vegas surrounded by lingerie models. #rockstar

  12. THIS!!! one of the more under rated aspects of games, if you have a dude who can always stick it end zone it makes a HUGE difference. Good Luck to both Football communities. Electric

  14. I’m a Laville fan as Dad has coached for last 26 years in Junior High. I think Judson running game is legit. I think Laville is gonna have to change the front some but I do believe Judson will be able to run as they are tough in the back field. I think Laville can stop them maybe every couple drives but I expect Judson to score some.

  16. Great call. I don't believe they were ranked top 20 preseason, but we just outside ranking. Lost opener to Iowa at home, then went 4-1. Fell down the stretch ending 6-5, including a 1 pt loss to Purdue in the Bucket game. Purdue was ranked #9 preseason.

  17. To be fair, Minnesota hadn’t played a soul prior to their game with Purdue (outside a vastly overrated MSU team) and were without their two best offensive players.

  18. You’re mean. 🥺 Coach Moore never let us run it up against anyone, we screamed at each other about it, trust me, I tried.

  20. The Minnesota team that showed up Saturday did not appear in their previous four games. Unrecognizable. Equally, they likely expected the Purdue team that barely held on to beat those CUSA juggernauts, Florida Atlantic at Ross-Ade. That's the same FAU that went on to give up 45 points to the Mean Green of North Texas on Saturday.

  22. so frustrating the lack of Discipline (that is on CJB) cost the Boilers to be sitting 5-0 and probably inside the top 15 right now. Big 10 West up for grabs after a HUGE win on the road vs the boat rower!!

  23. Im a Miner Fan and it breaks my heart to see Ritter struggle like this. They broke our hearts several times in the playoffs. Classy team and folks too. I think that's my choice as well. I hope they recover soon.

  26. Can confirm. I like their picks for sect 46 & 48, but I take exception with their ranking of the top two teams from 48 (Providence/Tecumseh) over the top two from 46 (North Decatur/Tri). If 46 met 48 in the regional, 46 would be moving on to semistate.

  27. Based on IHSAA sectionals, they are in the South.

  28. That's probably true, but I have never seen it this bad. Attica did make it to state in 2000. They need someone like Josh Smith on the team again.

  30. Strong points and fair ones. However my point is more that despite pretty much everything going right for GS last year….it took a monumental effort from BA as well as the entire team and coaching staff to pull off that comeback to beat Brebeuf Brebeuf was a 4A school by enrollment last year and beat the likes of Chatard, New Pal, Webo, Norwell….undefeated West Lafayette, and undefeated Mish Marian. Their 2 losses were Cathedral (fair lol) and Roncalli 28-10 with the game being 7-3 at half. to me they were just such an unbelievable good team who played probably the toughest schedule of anyone in 3A….unless GS had a different QB who was a true dual threat and also a Top 10 QB in the country….I just don’t think it would have happened. Like….come on guys…..GS had Mr Football on their team putting up arguably the best QB season in state history by throwing for like 4200 yards with 58tds and 6 INTs lol….including 400 yards and 5 TDs in the title game. Just silly numbers i feel like I can’t be in the minority here for this opinion lol

  31. I think you may be right. I recall driving by the practice field that week and seeing Coach Lambert and his players performing a rain dance in lieu of practice.

  32. Wrong. The blue rocks that were left were in the Tipton Cheerblock section. They evidently weren't brave enough to do it on the HH home side. Tipton didn't have any flags to bring over Friday night either. I hear Northwestern has them now. Nobody ever lets off the gas in this annual game.

  33. First, I'd go with Norwell. A lot of people in the FW area said they'd be good but they've been completely dominant. They've only given up 28 points so far this entire season. They'll have a shot at Chatard in the Regional and I think they'll give the Trojans everything they can handle. In the Region, I'll go with CP. Many of us knew they'd be much-improved from last season but I don't think many thought they'd knock off Merrillville. If they can beat Jeff, a potential Regional match-up with likely Carroll or Penn is very interesting. Props to Buzea and his staff for getting this turnaround going so fast.

  36. The Ghouls Descend On Florida Only to Be Disappointed: https://spectator.org/the-ghouls-descend-on-florida-only-to-be-disappointed/ But perhaps some of that gender gap is a reflection of the continuing credibility women — or many of them — still afford to the legacy corporate media. It isn’t enough, of course. Objectively, DeSantis is giving Florida all it could ask for in a hurricane response and more. And the ghouls are going hungry this week.

  37. I've seen numerous Chatard and Roncalli teams run roughshod through 3A and 4A tournaments in years past without having the need to throw a forward pass. Any of the New Pal teams with Charlie Spegal could have won state without throwing a forward pass. There may come a time when Roncalli needs to throw the ball, but they haven't at all this year out of necessity. If you're gaining 5-6 yards a carry, why throw it?

  38. 2 throws come to mind for this 4th and 21 and throwing a laser beam into triple coverage in a super tight window for a TD. Just perfect anticipation and execution then there was a play where he was running away from pressure to his left, planted his foot near the numbers and let loose a ball that traveled 50 yards in the air for a completion. GS needed Allen for that game to win no doubt. It wasn’t realized until the title game when they posted enrollments on the big screen but Brebeuf was technically a 4A school already with plenty of talent like Joe Strickland and that WR (Walters?) just being real here…but for a public 3A school to be facing a 4A p/p school in a state championship….you have to have the best player on the field by a margin otherwise the game won’t even be close

  39. Attica at Covington - I feel for the Ramblers. They have been fighting coaching turnover and low numbers and still give it a shot every Friday night. If I recall they were winless in all major varsity boys sports last year and it is continuing this season. I would love to see them break the streak but unfortunately their best shot was PH. The Trojans aren't that good but they are good enough this week. Fountain Central at North Vermilion - I'll take the Falcons because they are at home. The Mustangs have shown some good things but can't seem to put four quarters together. Seeger at South Vermilion - I'll take the Indians (Patriots) to pull the upset. South Vermillion wasn't that impressive in the game I watched and I think the boys from West Lebanon get it done. Parke Heritage at Riverton Parke (Saturday) - the Battle of Parke County is now on Saturday. Still doesn't make it a good game. Does PH have a balanced attack? If not, have Donnie Baker check their PH balance! I swear I had to take that shot at him. Let's hope he gets it.

  40. My nomination for "Oh My" team of the year is 1A Madison-Grant. They are currently 6-1 on the year and in each of their 6 victories they have held their opponents to 8 points or less. The beat the biggest school in their conference (4A Mississinewa) for the first time in 9 years (during which was on average a 37 point victory for Mississinewa). The Argylls have not had a winning season in a decade, but that will change this season no matter the outcome of their final 3 games.

  42. 6A: Hard to say at this point but Brownsburg has been extremely impressive. What they did to Zionville this week was eye-popping. But I think many of us are still skeptical of them because they've looked impressive in previous years only to falter come tournament time. A Sectional rematch with BD and likely Cathedral in the Regional and then CG in Semistate projects as an absolutely brutal path to LOS. 6A South is always a meat grinder, but this year feels like it is even more so than usual. In the North, hard to bet against an Indy donut team but I'm looking forward to seeing how CP/Carroll/Penn fair in the semi-state. There's a possibility of an all-HCC 6A title game, or no HCC team making it at all. The most parity we've probably seen in 6A since its inception. 5A: The deeper we get into this season the more-strongly I think whoever gets out of Sectional 12 will win this class. Snider looks to be the best team but a potential rematch with North Side will be tough. In the South, I think Whiteland is the best team by a pretty decent margin. The most disappointing class in the state by far. Give me Snider to win it all. 4A: I think the only team that can beat New Pal in this class is Roncalli. But I think if Roncalli beats them in the Regional then a team like East Central could potentially give the Royals trouble in the Semistate. NorthWood seems like it is by far the best team in 4A North but only beating Mishawaka by 8 makes me think that they're not anywhere near the level of whoever comes out of 4A South. When will a public from 4A North win state again? The last to do so was Lowell in 2005. 3A: Chatard was penciled in as champions by nearly everyone (including me) before the season started, but now that isn't looking so clear. Their sectional isn't the Sectional of Death anymore but with Guerin and Oak Hill in it the Trojans likely won't coast through it. Norwell has been incredibly impressive, even though they haven't played the best competition they've ran roughshod through it and have only given-up an absurd 28 points so far this season. I think they'll give Chatard all they can handle in the Regional. A date with West Lafayette for the right to go to LOS likely awaits the winner of that match-up. In the South, I picked Tri-West before the season but no denying Gibson Southern has been very impressive so far in their defense of their 3A title. At this point I think they're the best team in 3A South. However, I think the 3 best teams in this class reside in the North, so whoever out of WL, Norwell, and Chatard makes it out I'll go with to win the whole thing.

  45. But are you guys' LEO'ing still ? The Rah Rah is just noise, need substance, I have put the 2 losses of my team squarely on my head coach I support in W.L.A, 2 meltdowns away from sitting real real pretty, but I shall remember many folks who told me around these parts that the trend was IU and PU spiral downward, I think substance and performance matters, PU offense has kept on clicking post Rondale Moore, David Bell and loss of a big time Assistant in Shepard who is OC at Washington, while their defense, 4th year for many guys who have been playing a long time are ranked 25th nationally, with new DC. Just put your head down and WORK, that is the Jeff Brohm way.
