  1. I’m really looking forward to the Columbus North games on September 13 (Roncalli) and 20th (at Chatard). My thought is that it will tell us a lot about all 3 teams.

  5. I agree at this point. Hell, I see Snider struggling with East Noble next week. Warren is hard for me to take seriously as well. That offense was awful. Good running back, horrid QB play. Not going to beat good teams with 5 turnovers week after week no matter how good your defense is. I give much more credence right now to Brownsburg, Cathedral, HSE, Westfield as the top 4 teams

  6. Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. No offense to Snider, but there will be tougher teams on Warren’s schedule and I have a hard time taking them seriously as a contender without an offensive identity and consistency. They’ll roll Warsaw but afterwards, there’s only one more gimme (NC) on the schedule before the tournament.

  7. Actually this is not accurate. Snider did intercept a pass in the end zone but it was negated due to an offside call so they could have had 4 interceptions hence why I said the starter for Warren was bad. You are also failing to mention Snider missing 2 field goals as well. Really, it should have been an 8-6 final score, but Snider gives up an 80 yard TD pass with multiple missed tackles on a 3rd and 26 early in the 4th quarter. The argument could be made that both offenses were hapless… Backup QB was way better than the starter

  8. Deion to FSU rumors by November?

  9. The back judge uses a beanbag to mark the spot where the kick ends. This is usually a contrasting color bag, not the usual blue most crews use. A beanbag is also used to mark the spot of first touching. When during the game did this play occur? I’ll look at the Hudl video.

  10. On google maps, it looks like Cathedral has a football field on campus with artificial turf. Why can't they build seating and play there? It is buffered from the nearby neighbors by a lot of trees.

  13. I also appreciated how the Irish celebrated their victory. They were pure class. Credit to the school and their fans.

  14. Still wondering if you got at least a new vehicle for using the old wire cutters on the lights. Or was it the old Macgyver trick with a paper clip. All kidding aside hope you are doing well.

  15. Agree. The coaches had a great game plan, and they stuck to it. Should have been 31-0, but Mark Zackery saved the Giants' bacon. Classic thumping. Credit to Cathedral for bringing the Giants back down to Earth a little. I think the loss may help them, and hopefully we'll see these two again in the Regional. All three phases performed well last night for the Irish. Congrats on finally ending that 15-game losing streak over the last 37 years to Ben Davis.

  16. A much needed W? I get it, Winamac is awful young but some of these posts are really doing a disservice to some of the kids. Tearson Wolford, Addison Allen, Talen Garner and Xavier Adriano can play. It wouldn't shock me to see them win 3 games in conference. Kids will have time to grow each week and build confidence. They started 5 Sophomores, 3 freshman and 2 more freshman got playing time, those freshman have a lot of potential, just need to grow, get your licks in now because in 2026 and 2027, you won't.

  17. Lions win in a battle against a strong North Harrison team, 22-12. This team should be fun to watch. We had a few good drives killed by penalties or fumbles. If they can just clean up the penalty issues and hold on to the ball, Salem should compete this year very well.

  18. The position of the ball is everything. If it breaks the plane of the goal line, it’s a touchback.

  20. Congrats to Coach Hurley on tying with Gene Logel with 138 wins for Memorial. A win against North next week will make Hurley the all time winningest coach in Memorial’s History.

  21. “Hurdling is an attempt by a player to jump (hurdle) with one or both feet or knees foremost over an opponent who is contacting the ground with no part of his body except one or both feet.” Hurdling is a foul in the high school code. Has been for a long time.

  22. Best ever in the state? Hyperbole my friend. There were plays right there for Snider, just poor execution. As good as Warren was on defense, their QB was equally horrid, especially their starter. #17 was better for sure. Offensively, Warren ran the ball better than Snider, but they struggled to move the ball as well. Look, you can say Snider will be fine, but East Noble awaits next week for the Panthers and I see another potential loss for Snider if they have another putrid offensive showing.

  23. A day in the life of Spanky Harper pt 1. Written, edited, and dictated by Spanky Harper 330- woke up to drain muh satchel. Over active bladder or prostrate cancer. Not sure yet. Maybe it was the half rack of busch. Returned to bed. 514am- a she-beast named Beverly wakes me to tell me I have to leave before her kids get up for school. Shes a good woman. We closed down O’s tap last night. Bout had to whip mr gustaffson for spiling his wine cooler on me. She made me hot dogs and mac n cheese before showing be the master suite of her trailer in bournes. It aint love but she makes me forget about muh previous ex-wives. 534am- stopped at the pig pantry for a monster, some skoal, and a penicillin shot 6am- drove to fingerhuts to see if coach orkis was in attendance. Stopped in to tell him the jays need to run that double beagle defense. 713am- stopped by quills for a copy a newshawk 9am- went to baileys to find a deal. Fishing poles for $20. 1047am went fishing in the bogus ditch. 1129- caught a fish. Fell in a gopher hole. Sprained my ankle when i saw a copper head under the bridge. Broke my flip flop. Heading back to town for a sixer of some hams classic. 144pm. Went to the oasis got lost in a solar panel field. Some worker directed me back towards the highway. Got a flat tire in the fiero. 245p swung by russ’s tires for a plug. I helped take the tire off. Put the plug in for him. Balanced the tire. He sat in a chair. Charged me $40 and never said thanks. Hes a good man. 4pm Pregame at the irish bar. Hank and Alex got into a heated debate with irish mike. I called irish mike yella for being a knox fan. Stinky Will hit me with a pool cue across the back. Ive been banned for life, again. I walked out on my tab. 6 busch lights. 4 shots of wyld turkey. They wont ever see that $13 from me. No sir. 606 pm- Ripped gravel and asphalt all the way to the high school for whisky thomas performance. 629pm met david haugh. Bought a spud from scutch. Made eye contact with muh ex wife. She didnt look bad. She’ll prolly want me to come over but beverly just got tickets us tickets to monster jam so i gotta be good. 7pm- Game time. You forget how far these jays have come over the last 6 years? You forget where the program was at before coach Lambert took over the program in 2019. The jays had not won a sectional title in 15 years. A drought. They had come close. They were close in 2018. In fact they shoulda won. But they didnt. Here we are now. The start of year 6. Expectations as high as I am. And even with those expectations of going to state. Winning the north. Representing your community. There just wasnt any way where those boys from judson could beat knox…. It just couldnt happen? The old heads asked me, “Can your jays keep the score close Spanky?” It’s a knox v judson game. They always start close. They dont always end close. Tonight was one of those games. I try to tell people about this group of jays. I try to let them know that these kids from judson are different. That this group in particular has been a big part of three runs at a semi state championship. That leads to a lot of practices. A lot of practices in preparation for trophies. Sometimes they just dont know any better. They practice hard. They lift hard. They stay hard. To me the game was over a lot earlier than what others thought. As soon as I saw that we could bottle knox up on defense I knew it was over. I knew they couldnt keep the bluejauys off the board. Defense is not their prowess. Ross wants to outscore you. Those rattkeys think they just have the superior scheme. In a lot of games the scheme will be superior for the knox team this year. But not tonite. Coach lambert had his boys locked in. Ready for a scrap in starke

  24. They have been putting in the work. Definitely some things to clean up but they played great “team” football. Lots of different guys making plays.

  25. Warren is seen as perennial state power as they should be. To split the series with the warriors is no easy feat..the panthers have a 6a heart walking in a 5a body...u speak of humbling losses..well this is one 4 Snider..we all know they can b good for the soul..

  28. Partially true "The IHSAA decides whether transfers are granted eligibility within their rules" This only applies for students already in HS that transfer. Not much the IHSAA does if it is an 8th grader in Pike Township that decides to be a Freshman at Lawrence North (just an example). Totally different from a current HS student that transfers from one HS to another. I have put no effort to look it up, but I would venture to say there are more current High School students that transfer "out" of Private/Parochial schools than transfer "in". Something not mentioned when the topic of Brebeuf and Cathedral comes up is the amount of schools available in that general area if you knew how close Cathedral, Chatard, North Central, Lawrence North, Lawrence Central, Heritage Christian, and Park Tudor were to each other it would surprise many (outside of the Indianapolis area). Brebeuf isn't super far either.

  29. I said PRIMARILY...and I didn't accuse anyone of anything. My point was that Brebeuf and Cathedral are not tied to parishes. You're reading things into my statement that were not there.

  30. All true, but has less to do with Chatard and more to do with Ritter. I'm sure several schools benefited from the wave of St Micheals kids that chose not to play for Ritter.

  31. Although the channel isn't as active as it used to be, I really enjoy watching Todd Allen at https://www.youtube.com/@ToddAllenaahso/videos. He breaks down film really well and teaches how to spot the action of a foul and the philosophy behind making calls.
