I parked by the softball field last year at the semi state. There were lots of vehicles but most people were taking turns to get out of parking lots and to the main road. It didn’t take nearly as long to get away from the jungle as it did to get over the outcome of the game.

Well, that and it also got me home 45 minutes earlier that night...

It's a Snider/Penn thing, as Komets stated. Programs go way back. Both historically good, kind of like Notre Dame/Michigan. Lot's of respect, never really chippy. Well played games, very few cheap shots.

I have always had great respect for the Penn program going back to the 80’s and the many battles Snider had with Penn. Nothing against CP at all, just sometimes like to see some old rivals do well

Bummer. Seemed like a really good guy. Conceeded the Power T wasn't a popular scheme and he was ready to focus on spending more time with his 4 kids. Plans to continue teaching in Noblesville schools.

Yeah, don't count those guys out until they're gone. Opponents are 68-32 this year holy wow. Most of the remaining field in the south is a nightmare––surprise.

Penn has a good defense, but that offense has struggled this year. I would be tempted to call for the upset if Penn’s offense was good, but I struggle to see them getting to 14 points and CP is easily going to get to the number. If Penn somehow gets 28 points than CP is not who we all thought they were quoting Dennis Green

That seems about right to me, although not all 7 point victories are the same. A 7 point win in a higher scoring game would have to be some cause for concern, but that seems unlikely to me.

Since when do you ask permission to speak? I'm not convinced that Penn is "clearly inferior". Yes, the Mishawaka game was an eye opener, but that was back in Week 2. I don't think it's out of the question for a team to be drastically improved ten weeks later I love that all our questions are about to be answered on the field over the next few weeks.

Am I allowed to speak? I’d be very concerned as a CP backer if this one is close. The transitive property doesn’t tell everything, but if you are a true threat for the title, you dispose of clearly inferior teams with little difficulty. Now, these are teenagers we are talking about so I guess I should also keep that in mind.

Most of them have to do with confusing NFL and NCAA rules with NFHS rules. For example, defenders in the neutral zone before the snap, but they got back. Uncatchable pass on a DPI. Returner bringing a kick out of the end zone. Breaking the huddle with 12. The other one is something coaches don't realize is a waste of energy: yelling "hold" on almost every play as if we aren't watching for illegal blocks. The only thing that does is result in us not listening to much of anything else you have to say.

He is a winner, and knows how to get the best from his team when it is needed most. If Semi-State comes down to LN v Center Grove...I am giving the edge to Center Grove, even though North beat them by 13 in the regular season. Semi-State is just a different level of pressure, plus you have to beat a familiar foe for a second time, which is always harder.

I could cast a radius within 25 miles from where I'm currently sitting and possibly find a JV team that could hold Elkhart's offense to 7 points. One of the worst I've seen all year and Snider's defense didn't have anything to do with it. Last year Crown Point continuously took 14 point leads and Penn continuously struck back by easily passing the ball down field. I have a feeling this year it won't be so easy for Penn to overcome a large deficit. I would take CP by a minimum of 14 if they can contain the Penn O. Weather shouldn't be much of an impact as well.

Bear I have apricated the kind words you've spoken on here about Attica this season. I think a lot of your takes this year have been really well thought out and on point but this sir is not one of those. SP added 3a speedway perennial power Lutheran as their non conference games. They just as SV can not control the teams in their conference or how competitive those teams are. If you flip the RP and SP schedules they will not look similar in results. The only common opponents are Cloverdale and Covington. South beat these teams 91-20 and RP 73-65. These are not similar teams and I believe the scoreboard will show this. To be completely transparent I graduated from South Putnam( I'll always be an eagle) and I realize that makes me biased but I stand by my claim that these teams are not on the same level. Enjoyed listening to all the chatter this season guys!

The 7 points Penn gave Elkhart came from a muffed punt .

Don't wanna hijack this thread, let's continue this at "The Next Level." I'm not sure how good Penn's defense really is as they gave up a lot of points the first two weeks of the season. It was suggested that the defense has improve, hence the 7pts they gave up to Elkhart. The rest of their schedule is suspect. Crown Point comes across as a no nonsense team that just goes about it's business. Looking at their schedule, I would conclude that their defense might be on par with Penn's. Maybe a slight advantage to CP. Offensively, they seem really consistent and should score enough points to win this game by double digits. I'll take Crown Point 28-14.

Somewhat true..the Carroll fans who I've encountered are just the worst!! A couple years ago when they were going to state a guy says "hey, who is Snider playing tonight? Oh, that's right, no one" in front of group of others who laughed it off..I replied "just keep it within 21 pts" which they didn't..I ran in to him after the game n asked how was the blowout n he responded well cg is tough! Yeah no $&*! Sherlock! I stated Snider program has battled enough indy teams to know its another level..the fact this surprised them tells it all..not used to winning..Snider exacted revenge last year n he was quiet as a church mouse.. I have love for Dinan yet their fans that I've met just make it tough..maybe them n cp want what Snider n Penn have in the trophy case yet being humble in victory n defeat can be hard to teach adults. Rant over n get off my lawn!

No one wants to lose to the new kid on the block. It is what it is though. There's a new sheriff in town to the tune of Crown Point and Carroll. Penn will get there, it's just a matter of finding the right guy to get them there. Maybe they already have it in their first year coach. Not so easy for Snider as their enrollment declined to 1900 students while watching Carroll, Homestead, Fishers, HSE, and Westfield explode.

Agree. I also think there's a psychological preference for getting taken out by a team you're used to seeing in that position as opposed to rising programs like Crown Point and Carroll. Could just be me, though.

Ok yes SP schedule isn't the strongest but riddle me this I think SP could easily go undefeated with RP's schedule. I personally think if RP replayed their whole season, they wouldn't go undefeated. Looking back I wish we could see a Cloverdale RP rematch

Snider/Penn games used to pack both sides of the field despite the two hour drive. I think both fan bases miss that as they were always regarded as the two Northern powers. Fort Wayne vs South Bend if you will. They've played 15 times with Penn holding an 8-7 advantage. Most of those games were played in a span of two and half decades. So it was almost expected that the two teams would play each other. Sportsmanship always seemed to be there as well. Again, it's a respect thing.

#1 Memorial and #2 Heritage Hills have only met 17 times, all in the 3A tournament with 7 games being for the Sectional title and 2 being for a Regional title. The biggest game in Southwest Indiana by a mile.

The roster limit itself is unlimited. The number of players that can dress is limited to 75 for a given playoff game. The number of medals awarded that day are also limited, but a team can buy what is needed afterward though.

I took my 9 yr. old daughter to that game — her first. They had her at the flyover.

Lutheran Triton Central - This should be one of the better games of the week. Harrell has Lapel favored by 4, but I just don't think Lapel is tough enough to keep up with the Tigers. Plus, I'm hoping for a potential Lutheran/TC rematch on home turf.

On some of this - SF can agree. The Executive Branch indeed does have too much power. But more so both houses of congress is implicated. Trump's plan to remove some of the regulatory institutions that actually have power to make their own enforceable policies "laws" that are crippling business and enterprise clear down to the mom and pops is bold and if able to be implemented will help, but we all know (or at least should know) term limits in both houses of congress will be the only way to get the power back into the hands of us citizens........

Punt. Returner muffs the kick at about the 7 yd. line. Turns around on a muddy field to recover it, and accidentally kicks it. Subsequently touched by multiple players of both teams, and winds up in the end zone where a member of the kicking team falls on it. They go crazy. After talking to my back judge, I step out and give the touchback signal … and they go crazy again. So, I head over to the kickers’ head coach to explain, and the defensive coordinator meets me at the numbers. “Hey, they touched the ball first and then we recovered in the end zone!” I barely slow down as I walk right past him and say “you’re exactly right, Coach.” He was dumbstruck, as I went on to explain to the head coach why it wasn’t a TD.
