  1. Mike Florio talked a little bit about employer liability yesterday since Fox is now a named defendant in a civil suit filed Monday. It’s normal for charges to get upgraded as the factual picture becomes clearer and evidence supporting elements of different or more severe crimes emerges.

  3. Love this forum and the entertainment it provides. Touting your team or region while bantering with others from different parts of the state is all in good fun. But let's not forget that we're cheering for a bunch of kids that can push over their opponent, make a great noise popping tackle, or tuck a ball under their arms and run down the field and run real fast. These kids get one or two years of gratification and recognition, then go on experience knee and back issues 20 years down the road. Just one time, I'd love to see a packed stadium of 80,000 fans stand up and roar for that guy who works hard, been married for twenty years, goes to church, and has raised four great kids. Maybe even reward him with a million dollar salary as he gets recognized by the fans who paid to witness this man's achievements. It's the end, it's just a game with not a whole lot of real world value. Keep having fun, but remember, football isn't the be all end all. So a massive shout out to all the guys on this forum doing bigger things with their lives outside of being a football coach or fan.

  6. Do you want you're kids to have an opportunity to play for a state title at Lucas? I'd say Snider and Carroll are you're best bet. I just don't see it happening at Northrop for three reasons: 1. They'll never be a 5A enrollment school. 2. They'll always be one of the smaller teams in 6A. Getting out of sectionals or regionals will be a grind for them. 3. I'm still not sure what Bowen can do outside of having a lot of talent. His teams have have been horrible (4-26) up until the new transfer rules took affect. Even some of the best coaches can't seem to get past semi-state. Look no further than Merrillville.

  8. A little insight for our friend Billy... Covington @ Attica - If the Trojans control the line of scrimmage on both sides, like they should, this one shouldn't be close. But if the Ramblers go back to mixing things up and not relying so much on their pass game, they can keep it close. They also have to fly around on defense and cause issues for the Covington O-line. Covington is a paper tiger. I've said that from the beginning. They looked unstoppable at the beginning of the season because of their schedule. In conference play its been a different story. The Ramblers just need to stay the course. They'll be fine. Hopefully, the clock isn't a factor up at Attica. Trojans win. Cov 35 Attica 21 North Vermillion @ Fountain Central - Is this game big enough for the two egos leading these teams? The Falcons have showed signs of life against most teams they play, they just can't stay out of their own way. Their youth is their weakness. If they buy in, they should be better in the future. The Mustangs apparently can't stay healthy. Maybe a better off-season program would have better prepared them for the bumps and bruises of the season. They've been playing catch up since their 0-3 start. If they play anyone more physical than them, they'll fold. The Falcons are not that physical. FC 35 NV 12 South Vermillion @ Seeger - There was nothing coming back this year for the Wildcats, total rebuild. Take that for what it's worth. Add a brand spanking new head coach and you get what SV has been experiencing. Very similar to its northern neighbor. Is there potential? Possibly. The fact they've won a few games shows that. The Partiots on the other hand were primed to get back to their roots and win some ball games. For the most part, they have looked the part. Except once. I look for them to make some noise in their sectional. Patriots dominate. Seeger 40 SV 14 Riverton Parke @ Parke Heritage - Your're either the steamroller or you're the pavement. Anybody who has paid attention to the Panthers this season knows what they bring to the table. To deny that fact is ignorance. To underestimate or downplay that fact is dangerous. And it isn't just the offense, which is pretty good. Their defense is nasty. They are on a mission whether the WRC or the rest of the state is paying attention. The Woolfs have made progress this year too. Coach Rector has done a great job despite coaching at a "basketball" school. Imagine how good they could be if all their athletes would play football? I look for this week to be heated, but never in doubt. RP wins.

  12. Remember, a few people who live in Carmel (especially western Clay Township), Carmel is as much a brand and a part of their identity. It says "we chose the best of the best - community, schools, athletics." Any split would likely take the Clay Township folks from west of Carmel into their own school ... and two things would happen. One, Clay would probably be the better athletic program, and two, the people for whom "being from Carmel" means the most aren't sending their kids to "Carmel." Old-line Greyhounds wouldn't take kindly to them losing state championships to a school *within their own district.* HSE actually has talked about creating a third high school, but IIRC, it would be a magnet/special school (e.g., a "University" early college high school) that would have no athletics and the kids who want to play sports would go to the school where they were zoned.

  16. Sports is a great unifier. Lessons learned back in the day are still applied today such the fumble, reverse, long bomb, and safety blitz. Lest we never forget interception, block, and touchdown.

  19. 100% agree...as you know, they used to play their game last game of the season...neither had nothing to play for as they were heading into the playoffs. Yet both teams would play this game like it was for the state title. Just shows one the respect each team has for each other's programs.

  20. We are allowed our opinions and perspectives and thank God we can agree to disagree. Let’s talk about it, especially when you say that football has “not a lot of real world value”. Does participation within a program that teaches them (youngsters youth thru high school) things like discipline, selflessness, commitment, ultimate team work amongst 33 pieces on Offense, Defense and Special Teams plus their coaches, managers, etc., sound like a good thing that provides world value? How about how to disagree and resolve conflict, how to stand up for what is right, how to have patience, how to love, how to have understanding, how to forgive, how to believe in oneself and others, to encourage, to demand excellence of the self and others, to lead, to persevere, to be special. I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of the true depth of what the greatest team game ever “real world value” is. Our football coaches, the true football coaches that are men and women of integrity and honor, take the responsibility of being a coach as serious as being a father because they know that most of society has lost that father of 4 that works hard and goes to church (very sad btw). So, someone in the village has to step up and help the parent or guardian that’s left guide that child to graduation and hopefully onward, so they can have a shot of becoming that impactful parent that deserves the millions of dollars and appreciation, but since that kid played football they won’t ask or care about it because of the values they learned from their coaches and the game. God bless our coaches that sacrifice their family time for others kids and may the impact they have be positive and long lasting. So that the values and lessons can begin to truly impact the real world. Yes, shoutout to all the guys doing great things outside of football and keep up the good work and doing by far the hardest job on the planet, being a good parent. Shoutout to the our football coaches as well who are raising their own kids and others.
