I am also, Cignetti is something SPECIAL to IU. They pulled a diamond out in the rough, and are now getting the fruits of his knowledge and leadership.3 points

The NCAA is spineless. Tell me something we don't all know. Squeaky clean? The 14 year banishment your old ball coach just received says otherwise. Not too mention all the self-imposed suspensions spanning multiple seasons for multiple coaches. You cheated to win a title after being Ohio State's whipping boy for two decades. Congratulations. Now back to being a 2nd rate B10 school just as you have been for the better part if yours and my lifetime.2 points

How many smug Notre Dame, Clemson, Penn State and Florida State fans post on here that defend a massive well-orchestrated cheating scandal from top to bottom? If they did, they'd get the same treatment.2 points

It's hard for me to imagine that the winner of Sectional 32 isn't the ultimate State Champion. Per @foxbat's moniker this is the new "Sectional of Death". One note....Evansville Memorial has, unfortunately, never seen Chatard as a particular impediment in 3A...they are also the only 3A team who has also won 4A so far. All that said, I respect and admire both the EM and GS programs.2 points

Look, Cignetti ain't going ANYWHERE. Let me say that up front. But all I am saying is if IU wants to stay relevant in FB. They really need to think about the 'future'. I honestly believe that Franklin is the type of HC that would continue that move forward. But I also don't think that he'd be willing to be an "assistant HC in waiting" at IU to be Cignetti's replacement. As a fan of Missouri also, I can see what they have accomplished in the SEC (a conference that honestly they NEVER should have joined), in many sports other than FB also. Coach Drinkwitz has accomplished a heck of a lot at Mizzou to make them FB relevant within the SEC. And HE specifically is a 'hot commodity' also. As for "Happy Valley". Their issue is simple... Joe Pa ain't walking through that door. Times have changed, the landscape has also. Just as with IU Basketball, the days of R.M. Knight are gone. Deal with the situation TODAY and stop thinking 'past glory' is an advantage. I give you North Carolina Basketball as an example also.2 points

One week to go in the regular season but with the draw being last night, figured it'd be as good a time as any to generate some discussion around the 6A tournament. About "as balanced" as its been in a while with Carmel in the north but one thing that stuck out to me is that amazingly every 6A bracket draw with the exception of Sectional 7 (which I maintain Warren's JV could win) pits the top two teams on opposite sides of the bracket, thus ensuring the best two teams meet for the sectional title if chalk holds. Its hard to not see a collision course between Carmel and Brownsburg, though I do give Westfield, Center Grove and Lawrence North a puncher's chance. Are teams like Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Decatur Central or Avon capabale of pulling an upset or two? Temp's Title Odds: Carmel - 30% Brownsburg - 25% Center Grove - 15% Westfield - 15% Lawrence North - 10% The Field - 5% Whatcha think?1 point

God bless brother. You have some deep rooted anger toward Fort Wayne. Presuming they have something you want, otherwise you wouldn't be this angry. Is it the 23 state titles? Is it the vast amount of players they send D1 and to the NFL? Did Fort Wayne beat your favorite team recently? Let's get to the root cause of this anger.1 point

Anyone who has paid attention knew vacated wins and post season bans were not on the table because the NCAA is in too deep and the MONEY and PEOPLE behind MONEY, like....ESPN for instance and NIKE/JUMPMAN as well was too much for the NCAA to stand up to.1 point

Kudos to the great partners to Indiana HS football, the Colts, can't root for them on the field, HOWEVER the partnership their organziation has to the state of Indiana and HS football, Girls Flag Football is simply second to none in the entire Country. Yet another example, nice letter and 200 win Gold Coin sent to Coach Meeks this weeks from the IRSAY family and Colts organization.1 point

Another week with no pound puppies on the grid? Not sure fair weather is even the right word for those "fans". Puppies at Connersville - Give me the bleacher bums over the puppies ND at FC - interesting contest...ND will pull the small upset EC at Roncalli - EC's 1st game since week 3...it catches up to them and they lose...again, why stay in the EIAC??? Rushville at Gburg - Rushville brings the grill on the road and gets revenge on it's coach SD at Lburg - Running clock early and Lburg can spend 10 days getting ready for FC1 point

Hey YG....no disagreement with your thoughts. I was just thinking about the blue blood comment...and agree IU isn't a blue blood at this time in football. But as we all know, most if all blue bloods today didn't start out as blue bloods, and it took a coach to get the ball rolling, change the culture and move them into blue blood status. I also think that blue blood status can also be lost. (over time) When it comes to Franklin, I am not sure how I feel. Definitely a good coach....but is he elite? As an IU fan, before Cignetti would have jumped over the moon if they got Franklin....now, admittedly I am spoiled.1 point

Don't listen to my defense...I provided the NCAA (you know, the only ones that actually matter in this conversation) link above. You are just repeating boring, trite talking points. Can you tell me what strategic advantage this "massive well-orchestrated cheating scandal" provided? The NCAA sure as hell couldn't. Squeaky clean. Deal with it.1 point

Definitely “wife release”. I’m fairly certain Luers has yet to win the 3A State Championship. That said, the 2012 Luers team beat Ritter in the State Championship. The same Ritter team that had handily beat Chatard who won 3A that year. In turn, Chatard had previously beaten Cathedral who later won 4A that year.1 point

I believe Luers is a 2A school that has only won 2A championships. They lost last year in 3A to Heritage Hills.1 point

They have multiple middle schools that play CYO football. Subtle reminder Cathedral existed and was playing football 34 years before Scecina Memorial was built, 43 years before Bishop Chatard was built, 45 years before Cardinal Ritter was built, and 50 years before Roncalli was established by merging Kennedy Memorial (Sacred Heart) and Chartrand.1 point

Yes, LCC's enrollment is around 302 during the last classification, so they have 1A enrollment. This would put them at the 275th smallest enrollment for Indiana football. For reference, 1A currently holds the 250-314 smallest schools. For additional reference, it would put LCC just below NJSP and just above Monroe Central. Other notables ... without meaning to slight any that I miss ... above LCC's enrollment, in 1A, include LaVille [373], South Adams [357], Sheridan [336], and Carroll [321]. Of note is that, for a long time, LCC and Pioneer were pretty close to each other in enrollments with Pioneer typically the "larger" of the two schools. Pioneer's enrollment is still fairly close to where LCC and Pioneer were back in the glory days of #1 vs. #2 right around 286. Given that they drew Seeger for Round 1, that there are probably at least 4-5 teams in that sectional with better odds of getting out than LCC, and given LCC only got 1 SF point last season, they are pretty likely to be heading down to 1A next season.1 point

Moore is an absolute clown. Hell it took Harbaugh 6 years and a salary reduction to win a big game before he conducted one of the biggest cheating scandals in the history of the sport.1 point

Thank you. Well, strikes me that there’s a fair distance between Mooresville and any prospective Chatard/HH game although it seems like these two teams are in an eternal cycle of playing each other in October/November…whether in 3A or 4A. That said, does ANY other team, regardless of class, have 2 SEC level players on their roster? That’s some amazing talent that HH has. I’m reluctant to speculate any further than Mooresville….let alone versus a Roncalli team that’s always formidable and appears to be much improved since Week 2. The Rebels (errrr….meh….”Royals”) are easily, in my opinion, one of the Top 4-5 teams in 4A. Chatard, as pointed out above, has some injury issues. I will be honest in that when Chatard and New Pal played their OT game last year I considered them to be somewhat reflective of one another (again…my opinion). Not so much reflective as to where each other’s strength and weaknesses lay but rather reflective in that both teams were, frankly, very young in terms of where much of their strengths came from…primarily Juniors and Sophs last year. I will admit, this is a very good Chatard team which should have won the Cathedral game (btw, I called BS when everyone was citing Cathedral as “down’ some weeks back) but it remains to be seen how things play out.1 point

It’s Hate Week. ☘️Beyond the Echoes: The Greatest Intersectional Rivalry In College Football The Notre Dame-USC football rivalry began in 1926 and is considered one of the fiercest in college football. The rivalry game has been played every year from 1926 to the present with the exception of 1943 to 1945 when the game was cancelled during World War II and in 2020 when the Pac-12 Conference cancelled all non-conference games in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic therefore interrupted a streak of 73 consecutive years in which the game had been played. The 2021 matchup marked the first time in series history that two consecutive games between the rivals were played in Indiana, although the games were not played in consecutive years. The teams play for the Jeweled Shillelagh, a trophy that goes to the winning team each year. Notre Dame leads the all-time series 50–37–5 and also leads 35–30–3 since the introduction of the trophy. Despite many close games, the series has had dominant runs by both sides: USC went 12–2–2 from 1967 through 1982, Notre Dame went 11–0–1 from 1983 through 1995, and USC went 8–0 from 2002 through 2009. However, while Notre Dame and USC have played in landmark games enabling one of them to move on to a national title, the two teams have also played spoiler to each other several times. A No. 1 undefeated Notre Dame beat No. 2 undefeated USC in the Coliseum en route to the national title in 1988. The Irish also spoiled Trojan title campaigns by giving them their first loss in the last game of the season in 1947 and 1952, as well as handing them a first loss in 1927, 1973 and 1995. The Irish also tied No. 1 ranked USC in 1968 21–21, knocking them down to No. 2 behind Ohio State, who then beat USC in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in the Rose Bowl. The Irish tied the Trojans again in 1969 14–14, the only blemish in USC's 10–0–1 season.1 point

Do you really think 3rd and 3 from the 5 should be an automatic first down if the defense encroaches? That is not a rule at any level. Granting an automatic first down on DPI, PF, and UNS makes sense and is consistent with what people are used to seeing. NFL and NCAA has automatic first down for defensive holding, but I don't think that's necessary.1 point

Based on youth numbers and middle school, it's going to be difficult to say the Knights can do what they did in those couple of years. The constant change in coaches isn't helping anything either. Yes, the conference has been at 10 teams always. The second a team leaves, another has replaced it the next year.1 point

As I round out the Adams County teams, Good Luck to the Bellmont Braves! We all know it's been a tough go for awhile, but the community & county are noticing the grit these players have. It is not easy to keep going when in the tough times these Braves have been in. However, they put the pads on and keep going at it. Another reason football & sports are great, as they can teach life lessons. In life you will get knocked down frequently and you must get back up. These Braves have done just that. Eventually it's all going to change and the Braves will get back on track.1 point
