I will also point out that @Lysander in a DM back in week 8 or 9 told me and others that Roncalli was the best team in 4A. You called it my friend.3 points

Agree, good to see Syracuse do something good. Never like to see a team hit while they're already down, but ND did play their backups in the second half.2 points

70-7 final. Again, Syracuse scored with 6 seconds to play. It was good to see them come away with something.2 points

Let's just put the whole "Notre Dame gets special treatment" whining to rest. Notre Dame would waste Texas Tech by three touchdowns. For all the SEC whiners out there? You're BEST team came to South Bend in Week 2, when the defense was still suffering growing pains of having a new coordinator, and came away with a one point win as a result of a botched extra point and a phantom facemask penalty that kept an A&M drive alive. Let me say this again. Your BEST team came away with a lucky win at a time when Notre Dame was playing their worst. I have no reason to believe that this team can't win the whole damn thing. Yet you have cry babies out there whimpering about schedule and independence. I need my own radio show so that can rip these guys to pieces. Better yet, performance on the field is what will ultimately make these whiners look stupid.2 points

Best. Name. On. The. GID! Lol Yes it is. Likely by folks who were middle school “studs” and high school “duds”. Kid and team had a great season.2 points

I heard from a credible source that Chatard is electing to stay in 4A despite not earning enough points. I didn’t realize that was an option but fully support as a selfish fan.2 points

“Forward progress is the end of advancement of the ball, toward the opponent's goal, in a runner's possession.” I take it from your description that this is not a play where the issue is whether the runner was down because he touched the ground with something other than his hand or foot. Rather, whether the ball became dead as a result of the runner’s forward progress being stopped. To answer that question, we have to know when the rules say the ball is dead. The rule is pretty simple: “The ball becomes dead and the down is ended: a. When a runner goes out of bounds, is held so his forward progress is stopped or allows any part of his person other than hand or foot to touch the ground.” The key word in the rule as it relates to the play you described, is “held.” It’s not enough that the runner is not advancing toward the goal line. He has to be “held” by an opponent. So, if he runs into his own blockers, and is stacked up, but doesn’t go down and is not held by an opponent, the ball remains alive. i should add, it’s a basic officiating fundamental that you don’t blow the whistle without seeing the ball. A slow whistle is always better than a fast one. The only whistle that causes the ball to become dead is an inadvertent whistle. Otherwise, the whistle just confirms that the ball is, indeed, dead.2 points

That was the turning point. 2 interceptions deep in BD territory and getting no points did not help that and the safety were 9 of the points scored BD was a lot quicker, stronger, and deeper than SJ Their defense was quick. It looked like all linebackers and defensive backs. no real line man The lack of offense caught up with SJ when the defense could not hold the other team Still a heck of a season Nice stadium at Dwenger too and parked at the middle school and got right out back to 69 to head for home BD students had a nice showing as well1 point

What do you think? I have been around the game of football for countless years (watching, coaching, playing etc.) and this is probably the worst call I've ever seen. I was at the game, standing in the end zone and I don't think SA even touched the ball. If that call would have gone the other way I think the game could have gotten very interesting especially because it wasn't raining in the fourth quarter at all and at that point it was only a two score game. I think the back judge just panicked because I don't think one could possibly not throw the flag there. Its an absolute disgrace that SA's season had to end that way. It happened with about 6 minutes left in the 4th for anyone that wants to watch.1 point

my thoughts are Blackhawk will take a while. A few reasons: 1. Hoops took them a while but the. They had a coach who may in Big Ten who was committed and had several sons coming through. He stayed and built it with real hoops and program knowledge. 2. Many of the hoops athletes are not going to risking their hoops career on football. Parents also very helicopterish and may not even allow it if they wanted to. 3. You don’t just pick up football, it’s a hard sport and you have to have the correct mentality. It’s help a shit load to be playing on pads long before 9th grade. 4. An advantage for hoops has been an “occasional” outside player transferring. Not many are going to transfer to the storied 3 year history of a soft as butter school with coaches are still figuring things out. just my thoughts, I’m not saying I can’t be wrong but I’m prettt confident it will take at least a decade to even be competitive annually in 1A.1 point

East Central is criminally underrated. They were absolute beasts in the trenches. New Pal also played its worst game of the year (had a bunch of drops, including two that would've been TDs, a 40-yard run called back by a hold away from the play). But, ultimately, it came down to the fact that EC couldn't consistently run the ball against NP, and no team has been able to do so this season (and in the rain, being unable to run the ball is a challenge). They've had success making teams be one-dimensional and creating turnovers. That's where the Dragons have beaten teams, is their front six on D is very good. Three Div. I DLs (Brownfield to Purdue, Walling to West Point, Hirschy is a sophomore who will pretty much go anywhere he wants), plus a deep LB corps that's played a lot of games. Oglesby has a bucketload of Big Ten/SEC offers as a junior. He and the Ranes brothers are all 3-year starters. NP's offense is good. Davis is the best QB they've had since Alex Neligh in 2014-15, and they have a ton of depth at the skill positions. But the trenches are where they have been very good. The weight room culture at New Pal is incredible and they push each other.1 point

It was. Westfield had that long bus trip, and for some unknown reason, didn't hire transportation, rather they had their busses take them up there. They pretty much controlled the second half. Jake Gilbert was a heck of a coach, but most Westfield people will tell you that he made a mistake when Westfield had the chance to win the game with a two point conversion late in regulation and went for the tie and OT. Westfield's running back was not to be stopped late in that game. They had the momentum. Should have cashed in there instead of OT. Then last year, the reverse. CP looked slow, nothing like the northern folks here advertised. Westfield dominated from the beginning.1 point

Very good football player who could never really get things going. Some were saying Knox center was slow to snap the ball. Was that a problem or was Luers line just that quick getting in the backfield?1 point

I guarantee the Roncalli vs. Dwenger game won’t be 3-0 this time. It will be a war1 point

It's always been an option. Scecina did it for a few years when they first moved down to 1A in enrollment, because 2A was where their traditional rivals were. When Muncie Burris was in the midst of its volleyball dynasty, schools (most notably Providence) would elect to move up to 3A to avoid them. I think the IHSAA nipped that in the bud by requiring any school that elected to move up in one four-class sport (VB, BBB, GBB, BA, SB) to move up in all of them for a few years (that has since been rescinded).1 point

You can say that about a lot of teams. If you're not better 14 weeks down the road, then there's a problem. Should be a good game next weekend since Dwenger also is better now than what they were in Week 1 when they lost to Roncalli 3-0. Think about this for a second. Carroll sliced through Westfield and Center Grove like butter, but never even graced the endzone vs Dwenger. Expect a good game.1 point

It has been an option for teams to elect to play up, they just have to make it known prior to the alignment of classes. The North Daviess boys basketball team did that a few years ago. They won a state championship in 21-22 and returned all of their starters with a good chance to repeat for 22-23. However, 22-23 was a new alignment cycle and they were going to be moved to 2A by enrollment. They were not happy and felt that the IHSAA was taking away a very strong chance to win a second state championship because their enrollment really had not increased, but the shrinking of some other schools close to the 1A/2A split led to ND being in 2A. Their path to a state championship in 2A would be much more difficult than 1A (Linton, Brownstown Central, Blackhawk Christian), so somewhat in protest of being required to move to 2A, they decided to go up a class to 3A. They did end up winning a regional in 3A and lost in the first semi-state game during the 22-23 season, which was probably further than they would have advanced in 2A. The choice was probably made just to save face and have the excuse of playing up in 3A as a reason why they didn’t win a second state championship. If Chatard really chooses to stay up, that would be admirable.1 point

Excellent defenses will do that to you. I have been stating almost all year the Westfield defense is really darn good. Westfield has made their living on good defense all year. The largest amount of points Westfield gave up was 34 in a bad game against Carmel week 2, they avenged that. I knew the defense was really good when they held Brownsburg to 14 points in a 14-10 loss that is the least amount Brownsburg's potent offense scored all year. Couple good defense with King running the ball very well and it was the perfect recipe for Westfield playing their style of football. Chargers had a good season though just ran into a very good defense. On the other side of 6A the Brownsburg Warren Central Semi-State went the way I thought it would. Brownsburg just too much for the Warriors. WC won a close one against a Center Grove team that was about to put @Bash Riprock in at RB because they were hit hard with the injury bug at RB. Brownsburg is good in all 3 phases. They have 3 really good RB's a really good QB a top notch ace WR, a great defense from top to bottom, and excellent kicking game. They will be tough to beat and they play the State Championship against the only team that has any hope of beating them in Westfield.1 point

I saw the headline come across my newsfeed. I'm glad it got moved to Paycor. But I did see that there were some unintended consequences. Mason HS, which is not one of the schools playing, but a neutral host, seems to be the big loser. Close to $10,000 worth of concessions had been purchased in anticipation of a 7,000 - 8,000 person crowd in attendance. Mason student groups - Band, Student Council, etc. was hoping to bring in several thousand dollars worth of profit to help fund their activities this year. I'm guessing they can't start selling them at Paycor, so they miss out. A minor thing, but just something I never considered.1 point

I've said this many times...1A should be bottom 32, 6A Top 32. Divide the rest evenly. My post above was just about success factor. I wouldn't be opposed to a rolling 3 year cycle instead of 21 point

The rhetoric in Fort Wayne was that Blackhawk would come in and take over the sport. Wonders how long that's going to take. I guess they are showing a third straight year of improvement..........1-9, 1-8, 2-8. Lesson learned. Basketball domination has nothing to do with football domination.1 point
