So the argument's always been. You had to protect these bowl games at all cost That's why you couldn't do a playoff system like the FCS does. .. or division 1Aa I think now more than ever you can reach that again Get home games for the higher seeds.... In round 1 Then for round two if you want to make it a bowl game situation...... Quarterfinals you can do home games again or second tier bowl locations Semifinals Rose bowl Fiesta bowl Championship game rotates Stadiums in Vegas Indianapolis Glendale sofi Etc3 points

who needs to justify bama losing to florida state or miami losing to smu why the hell are James Madison and Tulane playing blindfold the whole team and Notre dame is still a 4 touchdown favorite vs either of them so is BYU2 points

They have been sent to Head coaches… Friendly reminder… if they are Top 50, they WILL NOT be on their class All-State Team.2 points

Top 50 is the cream of the crop. Being All-State in your class is a big deal, but Top 50 is a REALLY big deal.2 points

I'm not sure if the replacement will go to a current assistant or an external candidate, but what a run with Coach Wilkerson at the helm! My two sons played for Todd and his staff. You couldn't find a better role model/mentor for the players, and he was great with the parents. I believe these results are accurate: 2012 - 2025 122-46 record 4 PAC titles, 5 Sectional titles, 5 Regional titles, 3 Semi-state titles, 1 state title2 points

There's a reason why they haven't won a national title in almost 40 years. They still think it's 1972 and the college football universe revolves around them. Stop scheduling them. B10 and SEC teams get nearly $100 mil/yr in media revenue, they no longer need ND for exposure for money. USC is close to telling them to pound sound as well. Let these guys play Army, Navy, and Toledo every weekend if being Independent is that important.2 points

Apparently there’s a “Memorandum of Understanding” between ND and the CFP Committee that takes effect next year, assuring ND of a playoff berth if they are ranked in the top 12 by the Committee. If the field goes to 14, they need to finish in the top 13. If it goes to more than that, all bets are off. https://www.on3.com/news/pete-bevacqua-reveals-notre-dame-is-assured-of-cfp-berth-in-2026-if-irish-are-ranked-in-top-12/ I wonder why we’re just learning of this now. My speculation is it was supposed to be a secret, but when Pete Bevacqua felt that the Committee screwed ND, that went out the window. I think the way this has shaken out has created some hard feelings that won’t go away anytime soon.2 points

If you lack such self discipline in this online community and are asking to be banned due to Adults who you do not know choosing to leave a team you love out of a made for TV and Paid for TV 12 team tournament then we have some serious issue sir. Be angry, sure, asking to be banned and cursing is just sad man, good grief pal As stated, yes, they got invited to the TV tournament, and already named their perm replacement so different scenarios Been saying it for months, it will come down to suits and Epsn, no matter how often they claim it wouldn't. Now am I surprised that they chose to eliminate one of the largest fan bases in America in lieu of the conf ties, yes I am, but as pointed out in nausea around here, many of the criteria (and I am on the side of the Criteria is bogus) was not kind to ND, and they paid the price this year. I am with someone, I think I saw on the timeline, may have been BAIRD at Indy Star, time to get Athletic Directors out of the committee and how bout some actual data analysis type folks and understanding of a computer system2 points

Along with all classes, the Top 50 is also where the Mr. Football and the Mr. Football Position Awards come from.2 points

Notre Dame did not lose to an unranked team . Bama did and so did Miami twice . I guess Bama playing LA Monroe and Eastern , IL helped them. Look what ND did to Arkansas , no other SEC did that to Razorbacks . ND lost to 2 highly ranked teams by a combined 4 points , while playing with a Freshman QB making his first college starts . And no 3 loss team should ever be in the playoff period .2 points

Don’t worship anyone but carry on king. Let it all out. I’ll be your Doctor Phil. I can name at least 12 programs that were damn happy they “weren’t you” yesterday at 1pm EST.1 point

Because the CFPS led them on the entire way, then pulled the rug out from underneath them. The players know they are good enough to win the national title, anything less than a playoff appearance is a slap in the face, plain and simple. Kudos to Notre Dame to extending their middle finger to the process. I enjoy listening to College Sports on SiriusXM. Had no idea so many people around the country agree with me that Notre Dame was a serious threat to win the whole thing. Look, the SEC is desperate right now. They've lost two years in a row. Having Notre Dame out just gives them a better shot this year.1 point

I do love how riled up everyone gets over Notre Dame. People who aren't great themselves tend to hate the greatness of others. It's an inferiority complex.1 point
-
Another thing that intrigues me about this entire thing is the fact that the public statements indicate this was a “team decision.” I have a hard time believing it was unanimous. Imagine being a senior on this football team who has no future in the sport at any level. You had no idea you were walking off that field in Palo Alto and would never put on pads again 9 days ago. All to “make a statement.” Gut wrenching.1 point

Betting odds: 1. Ohio State, 2. Indiana, 3. Georgia, 4. Notre Dame, 4. Oregon, 6. Texas Tech, 7. Alabama, 7. Texas A&M, 9. Ole Miss, 10. Oklahoma, 11. Miami. After this the odds go way down for all teams. 12. BYU Anyone who compares Vanderbilt's situation with Notre Dame's loses all credibility. Sure, if I'm Vandy I'm taking the high road and looking good in an interview. That program wasn't led on for weeks by the CFPS the way Notre Dame was. If I'm Notre Dame I'm sticking up for my program at all costs. CFPS.....College Football Playoff Sham. It's widely accepted, unless you're the governor of Alabama, that ND is one of the best teams in the country and had a legitimate shot at winning the whole thing. Notre Dame has the right to be pissed.1 point

Said this above. They obviously valued good wins over bad losses. Bama had some, ND didn’t.1 point

Supposedly, the self called center of the college football universe and they play the victim card at an alarming level. Irish fans go watch Vandy’s coach, Clark Lea’s interview today discussing how it was on them why they didn’t make the CFP, not everyone else’s fault. Seriously, Vandy has a much better resume than Notre Dame to argue why they should be in the CFP1 point
-
Fair, but only one of those teams is a blue blood who has asked for preferential treatment throughout their existence and refuses to join a conference1 point

“That’s no one’s fault except our own. We had our opportunities and we didn’t do enough. We are not victims in this process. Our ownership is in coming up short…” - Clark Lea (Vandy) Too late for Notre Dame to rehire this guy?1 point

I believe the arrangement as we knew it, early October/late November, is in doubt. Other reporting on the issue made it seem like there was agreement on where the series goes from here so far as timing and maybe as soon as next season.1 point

That’s been the rule as long as I can remember. And remember, even if he’s guilty of illegal participation, he’s still an eligible receiver. He can legally catch the ball. And, he can be interfered with.1 point

Which gets back to the committee and how they pigeon holed themselves last year keeping SMU in after their loss and continualling saying that a loss in the bonus game will not factor, but somehow that loss gave Miami a boost......s1 point

The TD throw, while being hotly pursued, right on the sideline, into a window that was less than the width of the football, was insane.1 point

I don’t know how this game will turn out. But I’ve been watching Bears games since I moved to Northwest Indiana in 1969. Williams made 2 throws on that last drive that no Bears QB has made in my lifetime.1 point

The fall count day enrollments for this year have not been released by the DOE yet, but they should be available soon. I’ve posted the DOE enrollments shortly after they are released for the past several years, and I am glad to continue doing so again this year.1 point

IHSAA should get rid of conferences. Enforce Districts that are re drawn, aligned with location, success factor and class obviously. Use the district play records to determine seeds within the tournament. Get rid of conference play and meaningless records. Could still have a couple out of district games of course, but use district play to determine seeds for tournaments. Not that hard. Would also help scheduling issues with schools. Probably too much work from the IHSAA though…1 point
