  1. Gonzo -- Durham is a straight-shooting, even-handed, Republican-leaning, no- nonsense government servant... until he finds no evidence of any wrongdoing in the FBI's initiation of the Russia investigation, then he's a no-good, Dem-leaning, Deep State operative who needs to be the focus of the investigation of the investigation of the investigation....

  2. @DanteEstoniayou can downstroke me all you want, the bottom line the MSC is NOT adding an 11th school/10th Football playing school. Why in hell would SC leave a conference where they are one of the largest schools for a conference where they would be one of the smallest ones? Can they compete in some sports, yes, in Football they've yet to win a MSC title, they would most likely be a perennial cellar dweller just like Madison in the HHC. And before anyone starts, yes, I'm aware that JC finished second in Football 2-3 year ago. But it was an anomaly. Madison has looked at other conferences, geographically where do they fit? Travel and competition wise, the EIAC is about a wash with the HHC. They have at times played Greensburg, Batesville, SD, and Lawrenceburg and the results are pretty much the same, with possibly a slightly better winning percentage. The only other option is to join the conference with Southwestern, Switz, South Ripley, etc., and that doesn't really help there cause as there is only one football school in the group, I would guess they'd have similar issues with swimming, wrestling, etc. Silver Creek, Borden, and Henryville are not going to consolidate any time soon. So your point about West Clark Schools being larger than Seymour is moot. The bottom line is this horse has been beat to death, time and time again. Let's bury it and call it a day. You now live in Nevada, why don't you focus on saving Nevada football? Lastly this is not a slam on any schools mentioned. These are the facts as they pertain to the tired subject of conference alignments by supreme leader of the conference alignment/scheduling Nazis.

  3. Unfortunately, that has been the attitude of this Administration from the beginning. No action has been taken to prevent future occurrences. That should alarm all Americans, no matter what your political affinity is.

  6. AD''s making big time decisions for the long term success for each schools student/athletes across all sports is not an easy one. Snake oil type salesmen looking to make a splash may or may not be the best solution. The ultimate goal is to create the best atmosphere to generate student engagement in spirit and participation. Good luck to all.

  7. About time that someone made the point that legality and morality are not the same thing. The legal availability of abortion is not the same thing as compelling people to undergo them. You can personally believe that abortion is wrong without attempting to impose your belief system upon others.

  9. I don’t think some of the Boonville coaches were too thrilled about the SIAC. Honestly if you take a poll of GS coaches across all sports, I’m not sure what the consensus there would be either. Then again, coaches and admin aren’t always in lock step are they.

  10. Citation needed. I have no idea what records you're referring to. He did release his tax returns. Something Trump has repeatedly said he would do, but hasn't actually done. Yes. The head of a witch hunt. Thanks for the link. I've been on vacation. I do have a life beyond GID and politics as usual.

  11. Is this still a football only thing or has it morphed into an all-sports thing with a possibility of 2 or 4 schools joining the SIAC as an all-sports package?

  16. A lot of schools are in the class they are because of what other kids do though. Our enrollment is impacted pretty significantly by a number of kids who are physically and/or mentally unable to function much less play a sport. We get kids who transfer in, including just last week, from FW that get kicked out of their school because of what they did. How is it fair we are in a class that has more students than us with that population not having any impact on their enrollment? If your argument is that kids are kids, you are more than welcome to visit. Better hurry, there are only two days left to do so this year. 🙂

  17. I have a solution. Swap Madison with Silver Creek. Let Silver Creek compete in HHC Athletics. Madison would benefit greatly from playing in the MSC.

  23. Don't you want to test yourselves against competition around the same level? More than half of Dwenger's schedule has always been against 5A-6A schools so why not face them in the tournament too? If the IHSAA ever put that Private/Charter Multiplier in place, there would be an total uproar. Wish it would happen but we all know it won't.

  24. Let's apply the "business model" to high school athletics because it has benefited and made public education so much better. Bottome line is all that counts......profit, test scores, wins. As someone that has slugged it out at some of the most under -performing football schools in Indiana I can tell you that what football gives these young men is way more than what winning a conference title does for some schools. Athletic's value is not merited by its results but by the lives that have been transformed in the process of competition. DT you have no idea what that means until you sacrifice your time, energy, sweat, tears, and your family to give and nourish these young men in these struggling schools. I have coached at the pinnacle (Ev. Reitz) and at Wood Memorial, Brown County, and Eastern Pekin. I will tell you that the most satisfying of my years coaching did not come in the Bowl but in the hills of Brown County, the cornfields of Gibson county, and the hollers of Washington County. You sir have your opinion and you are entitled to it but it is grotesque and smells of affluence. To all the struggling schools schools out there I say keep fighting the good fight! You are my heroes!!!

  28. Since many of them spend a significant % of their monthly income on paying off student loans, cash that could have be used for investment, I can see the allure of a "get rich quick" scheme like the lottery.

  29. I realize that I am being sucked in by the resident troll, but I refuse to let the program be spoken of in such a manner. Numbers are numbers, and that is fine, but what is most important is what you don't see in the significance of the sport to the many student-athletes who participate. The community loves football and supports it dearly. Like many rural communities, Madison has been hit heavily by the drug epidemic and has one of the highest rates of suicide in the state (did you read the article??). Football is all some of these kids have, win or lose. If you follow the Hoosier Hills Conference, you will know that the schedule has in fact been adjusted to allow the smaller programs the opportunity to schedule an out of conference game. Other conference affiliations have been considered but such a move isn't as simple as it seems. There aren't many programs in southeast Indiana with which to pair. Coach Morrison is a Madison alum and has been loyal and given everything he has for the program. Someone else will come in and do the same. Regardless of record, these kids and the community will support the coach and the student-athletes that participate. These points have been argued to you many times and you fail to consider anything besides shear numbers. If that is all we ever consider, we fail the young men we try to support with this game. For some schools with very small enrollments and low participation, perhaps it is something they must consider. Madison has nearly 900 students at the high school and regularly has 60-70 kids on the team. Football isn't going anywhere, nor should it.

  32. If the fetus can survive, unaided by major medical technology, outside of the womb, then effectively yes. This is a stance I have held for years. I am not a proponent of late-term abortions and never have been. I assume you believe "human life" begins at conception?

  33. Saying I don't personally support late term abortions doesn't mean I support a woman being criminally punished for having one. Do you support the criminal punishment of women who choose to have an abortion, at any stage of the fetus's development?
