  1. This summer we (Bosse) brought in veteran official Dave Snider to speak with our players and coaches. Was a really positive experience for everyone. Players learned a massive amount and were able to ask tons of questions. Last night Mr. Snider invited myself and new Central HC Sean Coultis to speak with a room full of officials at their monthly meeting. Once again, this was a really positive experience for all of us. The running theme for both events is that communication is the key to keeping games and relationships positive and productive on Friday nights.

  5. Many years ago in a JV game, the QB came out for the last series and told me was taking a knee. I told him “be sure and immediately turn and flip me the ball.” You guessed it. He forgot to take a knee and just flipped me the ball.

  6. This thread is about me, thou holier than thou admin/moderator. Now that @DK_Barons and @77Jimmie have welded the bleachers back together with bailing twin and chewing gum from the class of 1973, we can properly have a smack down. 1. Reitz = Gibson Southern south; Memorial yes; Castle no (Why is my niece now enrolled in her first year of kindergarten at Castle?!? Recruited into the gymnastics program, I believe.) Paradise no more? Fair weather fans, can you get enough Walmarts in and around Newburgh? Take an adventure and drive to the East Side Walmart at midnight on the 31st. Good times! 2. PAC ADs finally listened to what we were saying ... after 10 years (yes you can get to TGD archives using waybackmachine.com) ... as early as 2006-2008 some of us suggested splitting the PAC into an upper/lower tier or combining with the Big 8 @Bcaster and @DaveMosbey recall these discussions, I'm sure. 3. Stay humble, but don't get it mixed. @TW (wherever you are) has that Circle City Conference page on lockdown. It's the Cathedral kryptonite. Can't beat Cathedral at its own game? Divide and conquer starting at the CYO level. Boo yaa from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (7-8 hours ahead of you, no apologies).

  7. I dont really have any interest in a bye week. I could see why some would want it though.. I want a 10th game. We will have had 46 "practices" 8 of those against other teams, 1 scrimmage against another team, and 1 intrasquad scrimmage before our first game. Entirely too many.

  8. I made my comment based on his quote. His concern was about the relationship the bishop in Lafayette had with the Archbishop in Indy. He made a decision based on an assumption without actually talking to the bishop. In fact even the Archbishop in Indy has not said anything about the Catholic schools competing against Brebeuf. As a Catholic myself, the notion that suddenly, Brebeuf is no longer Catholic just because the Archbishop says they cannot call themselves a Catholic school is ridiculous.

  10. Good to read both of these comments. I know all of us (particularly parents) get upset at calls and I’m guilty of it myself but I have always had a hard time believing that on any level (high school and lower) that an official has it out for a program or a kid. In fact I don’t know single official that would say you know what I’m going to screw over team “A” in this JV game on a Saturday morning or Varsity Game on a Friday night. Obviously mistakes are made and calls are missed but the homer intentional thing is very very few and far between. Communication is absolutely what is necessary and good to read this.

  11. http://www.ihsaa.org/dnn/Sports/Boys/Football/tabid/68/Default.aspx Click on Scrimmage Rules I believe you can petition to have a jamboree, but not sure if the same things apply per number of plays per team. I assume the time limit and max number of plays is the same.

  14. Thing about Pioneer is, yes Jack Kiser was 4 star ND recruit and very good football player across all metrics and all classes of football. Hence Mr. Football (please do not spark that debate again), HOWEVER, Pioneer is truly a system program, plug and chug system that is so well established that they will not miss a beat. I have said this before, Pioneer may have to win 28-14, or 21-7 at times this year, instead of it being 49-0 at half. AND THAT IS OK TOO!!! They have some speed in the backfield and plenty of other pieces, they are NOT going anywhere

  17. In a discussion with another Catholic AD a week or so ago, he alluded to the fact there could be some athletic ramifications from this situation which is sad. Politics has no place on the athletic field.

  21. I don't see the Madison County schools (+MG) in the CIC ever splitting...I don't see other schools wanting to join them either. They seem to be the weak link in the CIC. Hope their fortunes change this upcoming season...

  22. I’m glad to be back in the North mostly because it just makes the most sense. No more hour+ drives for a Sectional game. I’m excited for this season because I think even though there are several unknowns with lot of new faces out there, it’s still a talented group. Losing 16 starters is tough for any team but i don’t there will be a huge drop off like there was in ‘14. This team could still have a great year and win a lot of games. Sr. OL/DL Kobe Stephens is back after being Jr. All-State last year. Jr. RB/LB Jayvin Lyons is back after being Jr. All State as a sophomore. I expect Lyons to be the best player on the field in most games. Kid is an animal. Also Jr. Wr/S Drew Pearce is back and is a big time playmaker. New QB Sam Edwards will be key as he has some huge shoes to fill. He’s not real big(5’10) but he’s very elusive in the open field and throws a pretty good ball. Not to look ahead but I think there will only be a few seniors starting so Tipton could return something like 17-18 starters for 2020. I look for this years team to continue to get better all year and peak come tournament time. Ready for Friday!

  25. I like the fact that Eastbrook and Mississinewa have both strengthened their schedules. Win or lose this does nothing but help you in the long run. Both teams have excellent coaches that will learn something and make adjustments coming out of these first two weeks.

  28. I would have had no problem with: 1. Instantly just punch the guy right in the nose. 2. Kept his mouth shut and kept walking. As it stands they both look like two middle schoolers yelling "come at me bro" Don't wrestle with pigs, you'll just get dirty, and the pig likes to be dirty.

  30. Tipton will probably never drop Elwood since they are our oldest rivalry. I have always said that I wish we played Kokomo as our other non conference game and it was talked about for a few years but never happened. I don’t mind playing MG though. The Hoosier conference is really tough so no need to load up your non conference schedule. This year will be good playing MG and Elwood with such a young, inexperienced team. We will be starting mostly Sophomores and Juniors. Next year with an experienced team, it would be nice to play someone such as Kokomo right off the bat. Also Tipton will not be going back to the CIC. If they ever leave the Hoosier, it will be to create another conference along with the Hoosier East teams(Cass, Western, Northwestern and Hamilton Heights).

  31. Tipton and Lapel added, MG and Ole Miss subtracted from the CIC? That makes sense to me but only if Tipton would ever consider leaving the HC. I could also see where the 4 Madison County CIC schools (Frankton, Elwood, Alexandria and MG ((although MG is technically located in Grant County)) team up with Lapel and possibly a few other schools to make a whole new conference. HH at Eastbrook will be a quality scrimmage for both teams.

  34. Saw a team picture of South Bend Clay football team on twitter. They have 29 players in the picture and 7 coaches. A great 4.1/1 player to coach ratio. The players should get a lot of individual instruction. Clay should be added to the list for contraction. DT I'm with you 100% on contrtaction.
