My thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Sharp, his daughter, and the family. With the season so close, this is a major blow. I hate it for the kids on the team. Coach Sharp was building something and I hope Justin Baldwin or whoever takes the job next year can continue it.

I coached with Justun while we were at Cathedral; prayers for his daughter and family as they take this challenge on.

I’d argue that this gig is better than a dozen or more D1 gigs. So many kids grow up with a D1/FBS or bust mindset and then get impatient and hit the transfer portal.

Speaking of that, is there any discussion of Washington making an investment to upgrade Hatchet Hollow? It could be a nice program boost.

I would expect Valpo and Michigan City to switch spots. Though Michigan City is probably more in the 7-10 range. Valpo has lost A LOT. Cathedral will obviously dominate the headlines in this group, but the interested storylines to me are: How does Columbus East fair in year 1 post Gaddis? Does New Pal return as a threat to Cathedral? Can Zionsville's D-1 laden O-Line stay healthy? Does Snider emerge as a threat to Cathedral?

Totally agree...she is incredible!! Love those who serve our country.....in Melissa' case, paying such a terrible price, yet moving on to make a true difference truly living her life. Coach Hurley puts his pieces together as good or better than any Coach I have watched. Make no mistake, Memorial has some dudes. If they come together offensively, I would expect them to never be lower than this on the weekly Coach's polls.

This is the lowest Memorial will be in this poll all year, and frankly, it's way too low as it is (I know, I know, preseason polls mean nothing). I know they stumbled a little early in the season last year but they finished 8-4 in a very tough conference and return almost their entire team from what I hear. They are a top 2 team in 4a in my opinion. As Lysander mentioned, this is likely going to be a "down" year for Chatard, but we'll see how it plays out. They will have a very young team that will need to grow up quickly. Right now, my money would be on Memorial and Roncalli. Regardless, 4a south SS is a meat grinder. I think this is probably going to be the strongest 4a we've seen in several years.

I'm sure the tweet was in reference to some of the same Facebook posts I have seen the last month. Evidently there has been some young Diocesan athletes winning baseball championships this summer. One eastside team even got rings for winning a World Series championship. They played in Owensboro and beat a team from South Gibson. It's a small world, after all.

8U travel baseball teams. *Blech* Would much rather drive by and see those kids playing some sort of sandlot ball or shooting hoops in a drive way. Or, even better, playing tackle football in a field with their buddies.

Did you see my earlier post? Look up Melissa Stockwell. SHE is an amazing person. One of my favorite things about the Olympics is seeing stories like these that we normally do not hear about.

I heard they had a good shot at earning medals. Great to see them aim for their goals and reach their targets. These medals are the shot in the arm the program needed. Rory Heltsley picked up his 4th D1 offer today! This time from Dayton currently has 3 FCS offers and 1 FBS offer offer list is Air Force Dayton Morehead State Brown university this kid is really building up a ton of momentum from last year into this season. Congrats to him!

It sure appears to be. I think we are going to see some GREAT football in all classes throughout the year. I for one, can't wait.

We are saying the same exact thing. The OP posed the question in coach/football speak. Or at least I took it as that. I have heard that language at every stop I coached at and every coach I spoke with.

I've never claimed or wanted to be anything of the kind. It's individuals like you who apply such labels to other individuals who espouse strong opinions, especially opinions you disagree with.
