  1. Here's a Google map with what (I think) will be the six classes, based on Success Factor & IHSAA enrollments. Have fun trying to figure out who goes where. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1O6J1oaoKWSgPWgPhsL7-eng1-_vqyqEr&usp=sharing A couple of caveats - Chatard was placed in 4A, Western Boone in 3A, LCC in 2A and I put 64 teams in 4A and 63 in the other classes to leave open the possibility of Chatard, WeBo or LCC moving down. If I get some clarification from the IHSAA on how that will be handled, I'll adjust the classes accordingly.

  2. Roncalli is getting a solid young coach who will do great things with that program! Congrats all the way to Coach Q!

  3. The link is gone again.. They must be correcting it again... I've seen Monkey $#!t fights as the zoo more organized than this... As my friend @Donnie Bakersays, I swear to God I have.

  4. No. 6A = 32 teams 5A = 32 teams (+ any leftovers if there are more than 320) 4A-1A = Leftover teams up to 64 per class. If there are not an equal number of schools, the smallest classes will get the extra teams. There are 317 football-playing schools, so 6A will have 32 teams, 5A will have 32. In a normal year, 4A-2A would have 63 each and 1A 64, but with the possibility of Success Factor drops, that may change. It's not going to be perfect, but with a three-year cycle, everything got screwed up. Success was based on the last two years at the point of reclassification, so yes, Pioneer & Southridge get an extra year up (and New Pal moves down a year earlier than originally expected).

  5. I only have 4A-6A done so far, but here's the map for those who want to take their own stab at figuring out who goes where. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1O6J1oaoKWSgPWgPhsL7-eng1-_vqyqEr&usp=sharing

  6. Age old question.... Who is more important, the owner or the player (worker)? We are talking that amount of money, I have ZERO sympathy for any of them, owner or player.

  7. If this league only tries to be the developmental league it is giving players still trying to get to the league with an opportunity to compete against other players and get things on film, it may create an opportunity for someone. They aren't trying to fill up 60k seat stadiums. They aren't trying to attract millions of TV viewers. But they could be fun games to attend or watch. I watched some of The Spring League last year in Indy. These would probably be a lot of the same players. The games were entertaining. Some players got camp invites or signed with CFL teams. It's not a bad thing.

  8. Not trying to pat myself on the back, but I did this enrollment thing a hell of a lot better than the IHSAA did. All they need to do is ask and I can take care of it for them. They have my number.

  10. Yeah, just from looking it seemed like Andrean’s enrollment was way high. Last time I heard they had about 400 kids in the school, and that sheet had them nearly back to 600.

  11. When the IHSAA sends out the corrected enrollment numbers, I'll adjust the maps. I used the IHSAA's enrollment list (since deleted) and Harrell's site. I may need to delete Wood Memorial, which would take it back to 316.

  12. To be fair, the monkeys have had millennia of evolution to get to the current state. The IHSSA has only been flinging *poop* for a century or so. Lord, I apologize for that there.

  13. Even crazier in that situation - obviously there are more factors at play, but you could end up with 17 schools in Class 5A north of U.S. Highway 30! I mean, there are already 15 schools that fit that critera, but if Dwenger accumulates enough points to stay up in 5A when/if those two schools drop to 5A and no other schools from the Region (Valpo, Chesterton, Merrillville being most likely) get an enrollment boost to put them back in 6A... you would likely have to see either Warsaw get put in 5A SOUTH with the Lafayette schools and Anderson included.

  14. There was apparently some bad data. Have heard from several people the IHSAA has circulated a memo to the schools stating the enrollments posted have some discrepancies and are in the process of being corrected.

  15. I've reached out to the IHSAA try to get clarification on how Chatard, WeBo & LCC will be handled.

  16. The SF is a 2-year cycle, but the last enrollment cycle was a three-year one because of COVID screwing with the enrollment numbers. Because SR & Pioneer's latest regional title came in what will now be the *first* year of the new two-year cycle, they'll get an extra year. New Pal & a couple other schools drop back down a year early, too. Someone is going to benefit and someone's going to stay up an extra year. You're not going to come up with a system that pleases everyone. As I read the IHSAA's notes on their Success Factor page, what I think will be the only mid-cycle adjustment will be Chatard, WeBo & LCC will stay up for the first year of the cycle and move back down. But that's a stab and hasn't been confirmed with the IHSAA. Southridge may be moving up on enrollment in 2024 as it is.

  17. 5A South really is like a Legos. Lots of doubled pairs depending on how you want to connect them. Castle/Ev North have been paired east (Floyd/New Albany) - North (TH North and South) and Northeast (Bloomington North/South) in the past. I would assume Columbus East/Seymour and Franklin/Whiteland are pretty much matched sets as well.

  18. So if I'm reading this correctly, success factor points will be based on 2020 and 2021 football seasons. So teams that were already bumped up after 2020 cycle get the same points tacked on a second time? That hardly seems fair in the scope of things.

  19. 5A and 6A will always have, at a minimum, 32 teams. The remainder get divided among the other four classes.

  20. Exactly - what will happen instead is Classes 1A-4A will end up less than 64 classes to adjust. Class 6A and 5A have to have a minimum of 32 classes each (outside of last year's COVID debacle)

  21. The only time any class has had less than 32 teams was 6A this past fall when COVID caused a delay in reclassification but teams still moved down as a result of the success factor. That should never happen again. Every class should have at least 32. This is exactly what I came up with when I did 5A

  22. So Pioneer and SR are the public school sacrificial lambs in this scenario?? And from what I'm reading, Chatard and LCC get a move down? Ya- this whole thing makes a ton of sense. Bravo IHSAA, bravo

  23. Are the DOE enrollment numbers accurate? I saw a post on Harrel's basketball board mentioning the IHSAA may have released the wrong data.

  24. With 6A, it's a matter of trying to figure out what they're going to do with Jeff & the Fort Wayne-area schools. There are 9 schools in Northern Indiana, Jeff is on an island, and then six in the Hamilton County/Zionsville cluster. The south is pretty cut-and-dried. 1: Lake Central, Portage, Crown Point, Lafayette Jeff 2: Elkhart, Penn, Warsaw, Carroll 3. Homestead, Northrop, Westfield, Noblesville 4: Carmel, Zionsville, HSE, Fishers OR 1: Lake Central, Portage, Crown Point, Elkhart 2: Penn, Warsaw, Northrop, Carroll 3: Homestead, Noblesville, HSE, Fishers 4: Westfield, Zionsville, Carmel, Lafayette Jeff 5: North Central, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, Cathedral 6: Pike, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Avon 7: Tech, Warren Central, Southport, Perry Meridian 8: Columbus North, Jeffersonville, Center Grove, Franklin Central

  25. I have heard from numerous officials in FB that the mandates about: "pregame" time, travel to and from game sites, uniforms, mandated meetings (without renumeration), and inability to advance (this being a minor argument, mostly). I think $ is a major factor. I take a MAJOR pay cut every year when the playoffs start. The travel pay (to and from) hasn't changed in at least 15-20+ years. Plus the difference in pay scale across the State is unbelievable. Within the area that I have as my home base. We have negotiated a pay scale that is perhaps the best in the State. So when I hear about the pay scales outside of the area, I am astounded at the rates. This has been a consideration with the acceptance of contests in some regards.

  26. I think any team who’s only been bumped up for this past year should stay up for this next cycle. I just don’t think it makes logical sense to bump teams up and make other teams stay up because of the past two years and then let other teams bump down based off one year. As most people on here said at the time, IHSAA screwed this whole thing up last year by applying the success factor but not reclassifying enrollments. Now you’re going to have some schools feeling slighted no matter what happens.

  28. More often than not, topics venture off track. Understand that a lot of people read this forum. That includes students, parents, fans, media, coaches, and administrators. Opinions about coaching styles, game plans, play calling, and things like that are ok. Getting into why a coach was dismissed often times is off limits. Dragging an individual through the mud and piling on are not acceptable. Please keep those things in mind while posting; thanks. Comments or topics that head down that path will be deleted if they are seen. A very recent topic was hidden for going down that path. But there are not enough of us moderating this site to see everything. keep that in mind as well. Thanks

  29. NFL has adopted somewhat of the WWE model. Have at least 1 big event every month, not including the months games are played. To me, I couldn't care less. If it is on and NOTHING else is on, I will likely watch it. Especially since MLB is killing itself. Unions hurting workers, again.

  30. Yes. This is what can happen when you simply shift the biggest top-bottom enrollment imbalance from 5A to 4A. And is yet another example of the stupidity of a primarily enrollment based classification system for high school tackle football.

  31. Spoke to a Bremen administrative team member who said their enrollment number was more than 110 students higher than what was reported to the IDOE. They are right at about 500 students 9-12. Fully expecting to stay in 2A.
