  1. So perhaps “building level admin” should remain out of athletics and let ADs decide what’s best for their athletic programs? What a thought. As I said before, just swallow your pride, admit you overreacted and made a mistake in villainizing Center Grove, pick up the phone and do the right thing.

  3. Great youth programs can produce great high school teams but NFL players are produced from DNA. You can coach the hell out of a kid but if he isn't tall enough or fast enough he won't sniff the NFL. Except maybe a kicker. 😁

  4. Purdue did a study several years ago and found there were more concussions from the repeated bashing of helmets from lineman than the big hits on runners and receivers. They latter group just gets more attention. Those players though also can get the repeated minor hits that could result in a concussion. I've always assumed those were the types of concussions the Guardian Caps were supposed to help prevent. The big hits to the head will happen no matter what you are wearing.

  7. In a respectful way, imo, it would be negligent not to. I share clips all the time with my team, on hudl, about this exact topic. The clip will pause.. "Player A, you have to make sure your head is up when you are making contact here" for example. And, yes.. we've absolutely stopped practice to tell one of our kids "you can't hit like that" ... sometimes adamantly. But, as a rule... and this does go back to when I started playing football/having my dad coach me.. (2001)... 1. Helmet is not a weapon, nor is it there to initiate contact. It is there as safety. 2. See what you hit. Always keep your head up.

  9. Pioneer will be down again this year, unless some young guys really step up. Currently looking at ~ 6-7 juniors and seniors total out for the team. If we go double tight again o line will most likely consist of 6 sophomores and 1 junior.

  10. Coaching helps, players in South Bend may have all the talent in the world, but cannot win a game because the coaching is either inconsistent or just not good. Also, every year is different: lack of Senior leaders, sometimes the size of a senior class helps or hurts, a crop of undersized players come through, the best players in the school are specializing in their preferred sport. But, the best coaches can overcome these issues. May not always win state or make it deep, but they will get the best from their players.

  13. So, it now comes out that there is a “culture of hazing” in Northwestern athletics that goes beyond the football program. A 5th lawsuit has been filed by a former football player. Somebody want to explain how Derrick Gragg still has a job?

  15. Do not agree at all with Brownsburg not being here. Swap Cathedral and Carroll forsure. Fishers and Westfield, Jeff and Crown Point deserve to be flipped as well. Penn maybe a little high too. Brownsburg is 60-17 the past 7 seasons. They deserve a spot over 9-12 without question

  16. I have long been an opponent of term limits. I’m a firm believer in Rousseau’s maxim “You get the government you deserve.” Unfortunately, the incumbents have so rigged the system that they have a huge electoral advantage over anyone trying to unseat them. So, reluctantly, I have come around in favor of term limits for Congress, fully realizing some good people may be thrown out with the bath water.

  17. Count me among them. My Carroll fandom grows by the minute. Meanwhile in central Indiana we have teams with hurt feelings ducking Center Grove in varsity football while playing them at other levels. Just admit it was an overreaction and nonsense and do what’s best for the kids. Carmel/Warren vs CG are great for the sport and for all involved.

  19. IDK - but Uncle Joe now says "We ended cancer as we know it" as his son's plea deal seems to be falling apart as the prosecutors are keeping future charges alive. https://nypost.com/2023/07/26/hunter-biden-arrives-at-court-accompanied-by-sugar-brother-kevin-morris/ https://nypost.com/2023/07/26/hunter-bidens-plea-implosion-a-nail-in-coffin-to-joes-campaign/

  20. St. Matthew’s Elementary and Jr. High School 2005-2007 NFL players Zack Martin (likely Hall of Fame), Nick Martin and Ted Karras….and some number of All-State, All-American and college players at all levels (not all in football) from a school with roughly 20 males per class. Yet somehow unable to win a CYO city championship in Indianapolis ….and people wonder why Central Indiana dominates. Okay…breaking the rules…not that I’ve seen them.
