Not sure I understand this... Are you saying that the coach shouldn't play the best player they have but play the player that grew up in the school district?  If coaches don't win, they get fired.

I like Dabo Swinney's take on this.

He has earned the right to leave on his own accord.

Even though they're projected to have their best season in five years? I think a really good coach can be successful in this environment by committing to the kids they recruited. It's hard for me not to root for a guy like that. Swinney isn't going anywhere.

I'm uncertain why many seem to think that your average underclassman/backup at Large School X will walk into playing time at Small School Y simply by virtue of having been at Large School X.

We've seen it firsthand at Sheridan the past few years.  Guys that weren't going to get playing time at Westfield or Carmel come in and immediately contribute in a big way at Sheridan.  The talent pool is bigger at Large schools, so like someone else noted, so it is far more likely that a kid from a large school has a very real chance of playing at a small school.

A lot of bad information out there

Be careful what you think is how this works vs how it really will work

Is the IHSAA going to offer any guidance to the schools/parents/student athletes?

At the end of the day, any conjecture outside of this press release is purely speculative....look for the good stuff to come out in April.

I do feel there should be, and hopefully will be, some sort of special circumstance rule this first year to allow for current Juniors to take advantage of the new rule.

Wondering if any kids have started moving around a bit??  Will some of the Penn overflow head south to Bremen??   Just seems this would be fitting for kids that live such a distance away from Penn but are in Bremen's back yard!!

Penn has lost a bunch to Edwardsburg , MI over the years . Parents looking for the small school atmosphere.

I don't want this to sound insensitive because it's not the intent... But are they going there so they can play and they wouldn't play at Penn?  It happens around our area some.  Kids that will not step on the field at big schools, leave for small(er) schools where they will get an opportunity to get on the field/court.

I've seen multiple coworkers take their kids from EN to CN to get more playing time.  One became QB1 at CN.  While I've had friends take their kids from CN to EN (who didn't play football) just to get a better education.  These people lived within a couple of blocks of the school.

Speedway has lost a couple significant players.  Not sure how official the transfers are, but they aren’t on the Max Preps roster and X profiles have been changed.

Bloomington North getting a QB from Illinois whose dad got a coaching job at IU.

one of the great disappointments ......Saint Joesph's College, was they hired awesome people and coaches...... problem was they were always like 25-30 year old.....NO TEENAGE KIDS !!!!

Like Center Grove years ago,   Franklin College hires a fella neamed YEAST, bring his son obviously, that son played 1 year at Center Grove (already a known recruit) and is currently in the NFL.   yeah.   Thanks Saint Joe!!!   Could not offere a job to Coach Yeast??

Because of the new rule, they are saying that the "sign-off" process from the Sending School Principal and AD is no longer needed. But what if an athlete transfers schools the summer of their Junior year (after the first six semesters)? What is the approval process going to look like? Why is this scenario not covered in anything I have seen?

I believe I read somewhere that Juniors are allowed to transfer up until the first day of 1st Practice.  I could be wrong though.
