  1. It should have been left at 2 points to start with rather than the current 3 points. If you can move up a class and either win a Sectional two years in a row or a Regional one of two years then you are in the appropriate class…..insofar as the purpose of the SF was intended to be.

  3. Sheridan's turf work has begun. These pictures are from last Wednesday I believe. On Friday, I saw about 70% of grass completely gone. Also, the design for the completed turf.

  8. Brewer has proposed this rule before, and continues to propose it because Yorktown volleyball can’t win state in 4A. The entire reason for this is so their volleyball team can get moved back to 3A and win state again. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like the proposal is getting much support. Similar results to the polling occurred at other spring principals meetings. In my opinion, the point total to stay up was appropriate at 2 points per cycle. If your team is good enough to win 2 sectionals or 1 regional in a class above your enrollment, you are good enough to stay up. The change that was made for this year was not necessary in my opinion. It was proposed by Jeff Doyle from Barr-Reeve, who is an executive committee member, and was again motivated by a successful volleyball program. The position on the executive committee should be a good indication of how it got approved.

  9. You would have to admit this is a false equivalency though correct? With the sheer size of rosters and number of rounds in the NFL draft compared to the NBA, its an apples to oranges comparison. I am not saying your statement is wrong, but how you are choosing to support your statement is. Just my two cents.

  10. today i am going to introduce you all to the strategy that guides my betting, for educational purposes something tells me if you want entertainment to read quickly as usual if you take me seriously it is your own damn fault I call it the circle line dot NP strategy. first a few rules/suggestions 1. beware of special teams that break the system, such as EC the last two years. 2. high volume of small bets 3. look for fans of teams to bet against, not neutral people - for instance: it is a lot harder to get @temptation to take only 19 points for a random team he isn't affiliated with, then it would be for say the father of the quarterback of that team 4. you're going to be betting on a lot of potential blowouts, once you find your target fan, throw out arbitrary numbers that aren't as lopsided as they seem, and then double down until they are sick of your arrogance and their ego accepts your terms. ok now on to the meat of the betting strategy: bet on teams inside of the circle of victory bet on teams south of the line of dominance bet on teams at the dots of success (if you think your team should be on the other side of the line or inside the dots it probably should, i did this on a track pad leave me alone) and last but not least "NP" the notable privates you know who they are, dont be afraid to put your faith on memorial, or andrean, vs some of the less notable schools under the line, but be weary of the circle finally: don't play yourself, if you lose betting on ips schools its on you not the system

  13. I say this was the inevitable result of the NCAA’s stupid policies over the years — which have been replaced by NIL & the transfer portal. This is like a state legalizing cannabis. Do you let the people out of jail who broke the law when it was illegal? Do you automatically expunge their convictions?

  14. I am still waiting on Doyel's apology/retraction article for claiming fans at the Indianapolis 500 would be the most irresponsible thing ever, that there is no way that college football could be played safely in 2020, that JJ McCarty was unworthy of anyone's Heisman vote and that Carson Wentz was the most selfish person on the planet. Dude is a fraud. But he is protected because he is a southpaw. A righty would have already been fired.

  15. Really tough draw for them. I saw your and @BTF's exchange on the topic. Going to be a tough challenge for them to get ANY of those teams even on a down year. As BTF stated, not necessarily a slight to Harrison as much as it is a credit to the Indy suburb schools and how good they've gotten over the years. Nothing would be better for Indiana football, in my opinion, than if Harrison proves us wrong and can do what we're assuming (based on previous data) they will struggle to do.

  16. Agree. I was thinking a 28-14 type game on an off year. That's not a slight on Harrison by any means. It's more of a testament of how good Indy suburban schools have become over the last 15 years. I like my idea better of sticking two FW teams in Indy and two in SB. That would have pushed Harrison to the northwest. Crown Point is no slouch, but that sectional would have been easier with Penn being pushed to SB/FW.

  17. Sectional 32 was as presumed. Brutal. 5 (or maybe 6) of those 8 teams could simultaneously be in the top 10.

  23. 1. Didn’t say it was all athletic scholarship money. Academic scholarship money and forgivable grants are nice, too. 2. Indoor track is a thing in Indiana 3. Do some research into the cost of private HS tuition after the $7k state credit and other incentives. You will find that it is less than $6k/yr. If you choose the right school 4. Played a few years of 7v7 but that cost is nothing. No private trainers or coaches, no workshops, no paid recruiting consultants, 2 single day college camps (about $150 total). 5. Club VB is a killer (mostly due to hotels) but Title IX should make that a low risk investment in the future. (I offset 2/3 of that cost by coaching for the club) 6. Don’t make this an us vs them competition, dude. It’s possible to want every kid to succeed.

  31. No one in my mind has been more woke than Doyel over the years, especially going beyond sports to dive at political issues such as covid vaccines, (picking on certain athletes while letting others off the hook) civil war monuments, gun control, etc. Hard to earn much empathy from the local reader base when they have read his countless attacks over the years in the Star and on social media. His apologies through the Star and social media....many not sure they are sincere. Live by the sword...die by the sword.....

  32. It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of Coach Spencer. Coach was inducted into the IFCA HOF in 2022. Former head coach of Tell City, Connersville, & Perry Central with assistant positions at Cannelton and Corydon Central. I had the honor of playing for Coach Spencer from '89-'92, where I learned the lesson of "Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong" Thank you for everything Coach, you helped make me the man I have become. 36. This really needs to go to a ballot. I think the $4B pricetag itself also includes some massive infrastructure changes around the stadium. Possibly diverting Lake Shore Drive underground near the stadium was one of the more drastic changes I've heard.

  38. You'll love this. The tax payers of Cook County still owe over $600 Million in debt for the 2002 renovation of Soldier Field. I've heard a reliable source in Chicago say the Bears are having trouble receiving financing to develop their property in Arlington Heights because of the uncertainty surrounding the property tax rates of the former Arlington Race Track. There is an organization in Chicago called "Friends of the Park" who actually carry some weight and will likely protest the new stadium. They successfully blocked George Lucas from building (with his own money) a $750 Million George Lucas musuem near the lakefront. He's now building in Los Angeles. Based on renderings it looks like the new stadium will be where the Waldron parking deck and South lot currently are. They are basically the only public parking available for Soldier Field. It'll be interesting to see how much of a nightmare it'll be to actually get to games at the current Soldier Field with the new stadium under construction.
