Since I have been unable to actually attend a Mater Dei game this season and have never seen the Miners play, my non-expert, totally un-educated guess is MD 24-14. This is based entirely on my being an MD fan & admitted “homer” so take for as little as it is worth. Best of luck to both teams for a well-played and injury free game and may all fans travel safely. We have all had more than enough to deal with in 2020 already!4 points

I've heard from both Martin brothers, whom I grew up with, that Notre Dame wouldn't touch Urban with a 10 foot pole. Wayyyy too much baggage.2 points

Enrollment/Classification News We’re now in the part of the tournament where success factor points get handed out with each win. Keep an eye on these as it will have an impact on who’s in what classification next year. 6 points in a cycle moves you up a classification . If you’re already playing up, 2 points keeps you in that classification for the next two-year cycle. 6A schools - Columbus East (0 points) will remain in 6A with a semi-state appearance. Anything short of that drops them back to 5A. 5A schools - New Palestine (4 points) has already met the 2 point threshold required to remain in 5A. However, they can move up to 6A with a semi-state appearance. - Fort Wayne Dwenger (2 points) has already met the 2 point threshold required to remain in 5A. However, they can move up to 6A with a state title. - Valparaiso (3 points) can move up to 6A with a state finals appearance. - Cathedral (1 point) can remain in 5A with a sectional title. A loss this Friday drops them back to 4A. 4A schools - Evansville Memorial (4 points) has already met the 2 point threshold required to remain in 4A. However, they can move up to 5A with a semi-state appearance. - East Noble (3 points) can move up to 5A with a state finals appearance. - Hobart (2 points) can move up to 5A with a state title. - Mount Vernon (Fortville) can move up to 5A with a state title. As far as enrollments go, here are the schools that could move up or down a classification based on the enrollment info for the current classification cycle. Lowest 6A enrollments (excluding Columbus East) Warsaw 2,103 Lafayette Jeff 2,063 Columbus North 2,063 Chesterton 2,063 Zionsville 2,055 Highest 5A enrollments Valparaiso 2,054 Jeffersonville 2,035 Fort Wayne Northrop 2,032 Harrison (West Lafayette) 1,979 Castle 1,965 Lowest 5A enrollments (excluding New Palestine, Fort Wayne Dwenger, and Cathedral) Fort Wayne North 1,550 Seymour 1,522 Munster 1,521 Mishawaka 1,477 BNL 1,471 Highest 4A enrollments Huntington North 1,459 Greenfield-Central 1,453 Martinsville 1,435 Northridge 1,397 Pendleton Heights 1,383 Evansville Reitz 1,378 Mooresville 1,372 Fort Wayne Wayne 1,3692 points

This thread has turned into straight comedy. Thats a lot of smack being talked from those backing what is essentially the 3rd place team in the WRC. If you enjoy watching 22 high school age kids play paddy-cake then i am not surprised you enjoy PH games or that you find SP blocking through the whistle and finding opportunities to block downfield to be "dirty". Poking eyes in piles, twisting ankles, and late cheap shots are without a doubt dirty play and unacceptable, three things i have never seen from an SP team. But if you want to side with a set of refs that are typically restricted to calling JV/Jr. High games and are not aware enough to blow the whistle while a 6-3 190 lb (to correct the terrible misquote earlier in the thread)drives Attica's qb backwards and forcing him to finish the tackle then more power to you. If you have the opportunity to review the livestream film you will also see the refs wait long enough to walk over to the qb, see that he is "hurt", then decide to throw the flag. Secondly, the opinion of a team still licking their wounds after their best strategy for stopping SP's run game was to dive and the offensive lineman's ankle and hold on for dear life probably should not hold much water.2 points

Correction (as I wasn't allowed to edit my post, for some reason): 4 regular season losses BTW, before Coach Geesman came in 1973, Penn had losing seasons in 9 of its first 13 years.2 points

Good to hear from you. Like Gonzo, I hope all is well. No word from “The Dude”, btw, to answer your question....probably been 2-3 years now.2 points

They do have a beautiful campus near Mass Ave and great football facilities. It's one of the best environments in Marion County and would be awesome if the stadium was full. Schools with a large number of low income students have different challenges than most people realize if they have never been involved with them. Tech can be successful, but it takes a great coaching staff and non-pandemic circumstances.2 points

This is where you hope to take home some hardware. Both teams need to stay focused. BTW, we have located tickets for this game. ☺️1 point

35-0 over Tech...ends the 23-game losing streak. House money next week against Ben Davis. The Giants should win easily, but Perry can put that losing streak behind them and build for the future.1 point

So you are okay with potentially killing yourself, your wife or child or a random person but you have a problem with women choosing to have an abortion? Makes a lot of sense--(it doesn't)1 point
-
That's the problem "I don't agree with her choice" You HAVE NO SAY IN WHAT OTHER PEOPLE DO. You should have no OPINION on if some man wants to become a female or visa versa. The hypocrisy you show is astounding You don't want the government telling you what to do but you want the government to tell women what they can and can't do with their body, you want the government to tell people they can't marry the same sex. Republican logic 101.1 point

@DT @crimsonace1 Columbus East applied for membership to the Mid State Conference as did Bloomington North. Ultimately, Perry Meridian was chosen because it was centrally located. http://www.dailyjournal.net/2018/06/25/the_price_of_adding_to_the_midstate_conference/1 point

They would say "we're pretty happy in the Hoosier Heritage Conference right now" and politely decline. The Mid-State had been at 7 teams for a while. They wouldn't have been turned away had they shown interest.1 point

*Big game for Notre Dame. Clemson's talent level is 2-3 scores better than ND and ND's record in "big games" this century speaks for itself. Game will be interesting to say the least with Lawrence out.1 point

Seymour had two anomaly classes a few years back, like over 100 students larger than normal classes. That being said, younger classes are starting to come in, I would expect Seymour to stay 5A for the foreseeable future, but they could drop to 4A for one cycle. I know they are looking at several options to deal with growing enrollment, including building a new 5/6 grade building. The growth is largely Hispanic, last figure I heard was 32% of enrollment.1 point

So frustrated. I felt bad for Henry Hesson last Friday great senior QB and grounded by contact tracing. A great high school career coming to an end without getting to play in your final game or know that you were playing in your final game the week before. I could not imagine the pain of not playing because you “might” come down with COVID. Now my least two favorite phrases “contact-tracing” and “seating charts”.1 point

Fishers over HSE was an upset. HSE led 21-7 at halftime, but Fishers came back to win 34-29. HSE had beaten Fishers 21-9 in the regular season. Fishers had been pounded in their prior two games by Westfield, 45-6, and Zionsville, 38-7. Perhaps HSE having that last regular season game at Brownsburg cancelled because of COVID cases at HSE hurt them more than having two straight weeks with no games helped them?1 point

Probably the biggest homer post I ever seen! I swear to God it is! The break down was ok but all the shots at teenagers is Busch league. I hate Busch beers anyways there’s only one Busch for me! I don’t have a dog or a Woof in this fight but I bet the Balled and Gode Eagles see all this crap and take it out on the Woofs Friday. As for Seegers I think WeBos will win kinda easy. They’ll probably meet Heritage Christians in the regional. Funny you say Seegers and South Vermilions would beat them and neither will get out of the sectional and HC has a good shot of making semi state. I gotta go1 point

Haven’t heard anything yet. Hoping it gets raised to 1000 or more. Hottest ticket in West Central Indiana right now. I honestly have no idea how Friday night will go. I don’t do predictions, or talk smack about any team. I will say I like being underrated. it will be a heck of a game. if I hear on tickets will keep ya posted.1 point

Me too. I only caught the first half. Not even going to bother watching the 2nd half. I'm assuming Nagy's play calling was atrocious yet again.1 point

I have a soft spot for IPS Athletics. My father coached at School 75 in the 1970's and was an teacher, counselor, and administrator in IPS for 35 years. He taught in the middle schools and was in admin/counseling at Wood, Howe, and Broad Ripple. He also played football in the 1950's at Washington, and he had a shot to be principal there when it closed in the 1990's. He likely would have been the last principal had they chosen him. They didn't, and he stayed at Ripple until his retirement in 1997. Anyway, I always loved all the games I attended as a kid. I remember the energy of the Ripple/Tech or Ripple/Arlington games.1 point

An interesting argument ... but there is no such rule. This is nothing. FYI, the reason the helmet rule is in place is to encourage wearing helmets that are properly fitted, so they provide maximum protection. If they wanted to, all 11 players in the huddle could take their helmets completely off, and then put them back on before the play without consequences.1 point

Penn in the last 8 years 2 state runner ups 2 semi state titles 5 regional titles 5 sectional titles Penn eventually was gonna come back to earth at sometime. All schools do. By the way. How's new pal doing this year?1 point

Man, some real false information in here, I have no dog in this fight. But there are some blatant lies made in here. South Put IS NOT a dirty team. I've seen them play multiple times, once against my own team. And should Parke Heritage really be talking about someone not playing anyone? Who did they play?! Didn't even play Seeger. Played SV and lost. Get real. Parke Heritage has played absolutely no one. I could care less who wins. but i'll telll you what, South Put will smack PH in the mouth. Will PH respond or will they cower?1 point

I hope so. I just know a that I haven't been able to go watch my team play all year. The live streams are good, when they are on and work ( no coverage last week and the week before the coverage quit playing halfway through the first quarter and didn't come back on.) But, it's just not the same. Anyhow good luck to both teams.1 point

Im not just saying this to be a homer, but Dan an Darren do a great job with it. Get more information listening to them on radio than you do with the live stream guys like how much time on clock, what down it is, stats, dont hardly get that with other.1 point

Likewise nice to see familiar names still keeping up with the goings on of ihsaa football. Me , i took up hiking been hitting all the local state and federal forests trails in a 50-100 mile radius (and there are a lot in south central indiana) . A break from politics/covid/riots/ and my own personal misfortunes this year. And the panthers had a ho hum season in moriarity's retirement season. I like Gabe Johnson but im not sure how he will fare here. Moriarity had a longstanding familiarity of bhss since his playing days at martinsville were near the time period that saw the panthers go 60-0 in a 6 year period he knew the ins and outs of the program and how to coach them here. Even after the districts changed here in 2000-2010 that saw long time panther communities re routed to bhsn mo still came here and had a successful run. Now i feel like south will drift back down into the kirk kennedy / drew wood era's unless gabe johnson is as good a coach as mo which could work out but not extremely likely. Hadn't thought much of H.S. football but i did think about the ci pickem i ran for the last several seasons just wasnt up to it this year. Good luck to you all . Probably my only log in till next year...... P.S. did 'The Dude' ever come back? The guy siac guy that had the 812 poll every year?1 point

Looks like this will be another good game. Both teams are playing some of their best football and have improved over the last 6 games, or so. If I understand correctly, Linton plays on natural grass so field conditions could play a role. Weather is supposed to oblige, with little rain in forecast. So as long as field has not been torn up too much over course of season, playing conditions should not be a factor. Any idea if fans will be allowed or if game will be live-streamed on internet? Would love to be able to "see" this one, even we cannot attend in person.1 point

And yet, many other states have used neutral sites in the upper levels of their playoffs, and somehow manage to draw big crowds outdoors in November. I guess Hoosiers are just different. What works other places cannot work here. We’re our own little world, I guess.1 point
