I've said since the day I joined this forum that there are some GREAT/AMAZING coaches that simply get the most out of what they have but it is not reflected in their win/loss record due to a variety of difficult barriers and circumstances. Even the greatest coaches that appear on this list would struggle to be the household names they currently are if they faced similar circumstances. Put some of the names on this list at places like Dugger, Oldenburg, Tech, Bowman Academy, etc...and let's see how it plays out. While it may seem like poor taste or sour grapes to some, that doesn't make it false.

We have posters from throughout Indiana. What are the top storylines in your conference, your area of the state, et al. In Central Indiana ... reclassification has really shaken things up. Cathedral in 6A - they won a sectional the last time but ultimately didn't stay up. This time, they're in a very winnable sectional with the Lawrence schools and North Central. Will this tour be different and lead to a potentially deep tournament run? Who else in the Indy area - traditional powers Carmel, CG, BD & WC or emerging programs like Brownsburg & Zionsville - will make a run? Obviously, the other big 6A storyline is the MIC shedding Carmel & CG and those two programs operating as independents. Can Decatur Central or Whiteland finally break through in 5A with Cathedral and New Pal out of the way? 4A looks loaded with Brebeuf, Roncalli, New Pal & Mt. Vernon all in the mix. Brebeuf, Roncalli & Mt. Vernon all experienced significant graduation losses, but have a lot of talented players returning, while New Pal won a sectional in 5A and has several key players returning, especially in the trenches. 3A - Chatard is back. When they've been in 3A, they've been dominant. There aren't quite as many schools in Central Indiana in 2A & 1A, especially with WeBo moving up to 3A. Lutheran & Covenant Christian have had great runs the last couple of years. Who becomes that team this year? Can Tim Able get Triton Central through the regional/semistate hump and to Lucas Oil in 2A?

I understand that. I just like having Indy representation in the north. It doesn't seem right to make it to Lucus without going through a team from the northern Indy burbs.

There’s one word to describe someone like Gregg Doyel, and that’s unhinged. Way too many people in that profession have just absolutely lost their minds in the last 5-6 years. Nobody fell further and harder than Rick Reilly though. He hit every branch of the way down. Olberman needs 24 hour surveillance.

Cool, but he said ANYTHING. Doyel was on record as stating that Carson Wentz’s unvaccinated status made him a terrible human being, that players would die if college football had fans, and thousands would die if the Indy 500 allowed fans. And like most lefties, was DEAD wrong and refuses to acknowledge or apologize for it.

The argument about dead-weight enrollment would hold a ton more weight if the Success Factor didn’t exist. Why should the rest of Chatard’s athletic programs have to suffer as a permanent fixture in 4A at the expense of its football who’s not even a regular 3A school anymore? Why should Park Tudor, a program who’s wallowed in 1A for years, have to suffer even further in 2A football because they have a high percentage of kids who play in the country club sports?

Lol. I shouldn't get into this, but if they make up such a small fraction, then why do they win so much? Maybe because a purely enrollment-based classification benefits the schools with less dead weight?

The move is very expensive, not just direct costs, there will be facility upgrades and other indirect costs. Certainly hasn’t helped IUPUI’s lot in life.

Easy for a fan of New Prairie to say. SB St Joe, Lowell, Northridge. Every single one of those schools is 60-70 minutes away. Meanwhile down south Evansville Memorial faced Northview (2.5 hours), East Central (4 hours - via Ohio and Kentucky) and Mt Vernon (3.5 hours). You can worry about fall Saturday activities, I think allowing students to stay in school until 3 and parents to work until 5 is kind of a big deal too. Neutral sites? I agree. That would never work. But Saturdays can make sense sometimes

The private and parochial schools are "content" with any student that can pay their tuition. Plus you don't know near as much about private and parochial schools as you think you do.

Pretty bold statements. I agree that NJ will have a fantastic season. I just remember hearing/reading similar comments like this from NJ fans on social media and radio coming into the semistate game against AC last year. The game was over by halftime. I think Winamac fans were also saying similar things last year and NJ came in and humbled them. My point is it’s pretty early to be declaring “undefeated” and “strongest I’ve ever seen.” Good luck to NJ in what should be a fun season.

My take for this year will be : 1. Columbus East 2. Seymour 3. Floyd Would not surprise me if Seymour won the conference tho, they return a lot from a good team last year.

I have to imagine for a team like HH….what is a camp even going to do for you guys? nobody is going to teach the kids how to run your flexbone/wishbone offense better than your coaches haha.

I think team camps on a college campus are for the benefit of the college. What better way to get prospects on campus to evaluate them? I think schools are better off to host multi-team scrimmages on their campuses. More team work gets done this way. Just my humble opinion.

That isn't practical or feasible in my opinion. Either bump all P/P's up a class and be done with it or stick with the current success factor that bumps certain programs(not schools as a whole) up for actual on field success. High % participation rates in EC and/or low SES numbers doesn't automatically guarantee success. Also not practical or feasible in high school athletics.

But enrollment is the most practical way to start. And with the Success Factor, teams can move from there. There's never going to be a perfect system and there's no logical way to ever achieve fair and competitive balance in high school athletics, nor is it the job of the IHSAA.
