  1. Longtime reader, not sure if I have posted in 10 years. Took me a week to get my password reset. Central defense had the worst performance in week 1 I have ever seen. Changing game times to 6:30 is the worst decision the conference has ever made. Rant done.

  2. Friday, Aug. 30 Forest Park at Perry Central, 6:30 pm Heritage Hills at Christian Academy (Ky.), 6:30 pm Mount Carmel (Ill.) at Gibson Southern, 7 pm Pike Central at Tecumseh ©, 6:30 pm Princeton at North Posey, 7 pm South Spencer at Mount Vernon, 7 pm Southridge at Boonville, 6:30 pm Tell City at Eastern, 6 pm Washington at Edgewood, 6 pm Give me Forest Park in the first game. Perry Central didn't really show much in their week on game against Tell City. Give me Heritage Hills in this game. I don't know much about Christian Academy, but I have a feeling Heritage Hills will show them Kentucky boys how we do it in Indiana. Give me Gibson Southern in this one. I had a chance to watch Gibson Southern's game last week against Danville and Danville looked good early, but they were able to settle down and take care of business. I think this one will be a blow out. Give me Pike winning two weeks in a row. I know Tecumseh got thrashed last week by a good South Spence team, but I think its close and Pike gets in done late. North Posey in this one. I think that they will run the ball and do what they want against Princeton. Hopefully Princeton can keep it close. Give me Mt Vernon in this game. I think the showed somethings last week and that they might have an outside shot at doing some damage in the PAC this year. Southridge in this game. I was impressed that a young Boonville team was able to keep it close with Paoli. I think Southridge will have to much fire power and their offense will hit to fast for the young Boonville team to keep up with. Terry boys..... Enough said. I do also like Tell City's big center. Washington gets it done again this week. They could be someone you have to watch out for in the big school side. They have a lot of fire power and their QB is a stud.

  4. Let’s re-visit this, I thought the game was at Carroll originally and about 2 weeks ago you gave me a mulligan on that. After week one play, it was very apparent that Carroll is not who we thought they were, hence my saying if I hate picking week 1 games as we have no visual data on teams at that point. Having said all that, CG is coming off a surprising loss at home and Carroll was steamrolled at home by HSE. I think that CG is going to be fired up and that will spell trouble for Carroll. If somehow Carroll pulls off a shocker, it will be crickets from me about calling for the upset previously

  5. Monday, JV game was moved back to start at 7pm, Sun was down and breeze picked up, it was a real pleasant night. 90 mins prior, not so much as many mentioned before, many of our programs have had the Wet Bulb measurements for YEARS, and the codes, this is not new for anyone in Indiana

  9. Fans on this forum are focused on one thing: High school football. Throw the coaches poll out the window. I doubt coaches have time to do the research needed to come up with an accurate poll. Out the window with media polls. They have their hands in too many pots and are typically biased toward their region. The GID poll is the only one that matters.

  11. Except for the GID poll. I think that one's pretty good!

  18. I figure this is as good a thread as any to put this. For those interested, Branson Combs will be making his P5 debut tonight when Wake Forest takes on North Carolina A&T. Game starts at 7 EDT (6 CDT) on ESPN+. He is expected to start at Will linebacker for the Demon Deacons.

  19. It is somewhat unusual these days to see twin safeties on a punt return, but it does happen. Our Manual does not address B positioning in the event there are twins back there. But I suspect it will next year. 😉 As the IFOA Training Video #1 that was distributed this morning says, the better practice in the event of twin safeties is for the B to split them. Once the ball is in the air, adjust your position to have an angle. Don’t allow yourself to get straightlined by the returner catching the ball.

  22. I don't recall seeing the word "revolutionary" in the linked article. Can you please point out the sentence where it is used?

  23. Spot on . In both cases the defense is left on the field to long . But , I will take this years scoring of points over the latter any day. don't think we will really see how good or bad the defense really is until the Sectional .

  24. Some general info concerning wet bulb temps last August in Marion County. For the most part, there was only roughly a week last August where restrictions might have entered into play at the Cat 3 level. If I recall correctly, many in the state moved game times to get out of that range or rescheduled for Saturday. Here's the link if folks want to play around with some data mining: https://marion-in.weatherstem.com/data?refer=/uindy . It allows you to download data to do your own analysis or provides charts/tables. It's pretty flexible for historical data, location, etc.

  25. Leave it to California to spend time and money on developing something that most states have already had in place and call it revolutionary.

  26. They are talking about Colton Popejoy a current 8th grader who switched from Winamac to Pioneer. Popejoy is the one who switched from Winamac to Pioneer. He's currently an 8th grader. Winamac's starting QB is Adriano a freshman

  27. Yes, that is my understanding as well. Due to geographical location and climate, southern Indiana is Cat 3 which allows activity during higher temps.

  28. The outside linebackers were out of place often and didn't stay home. None of the linebackers or secondary tackled well at all. Corners constantly got caught peeking in and left their guy open. The safety constantly tries for highlight reel hits and doesn't wrap up as well as almost costing the game for Penn with a selfish showoff penalty at the end. If he didn't have a certain last name, he wouldn't get away with half of the stuff he does in practice.

  29. I would say it is much closer to accurate than what we have seen in the coaches and media polls for sure.

  30. That has actually been updated, right? Brownstown and Columbus North both use this... The circled category is what both of those schools use to determine practice.

  31. Thank you for this info, Irishman. But these guidelines appear to be mainly for practices. What about actual games?

  32. Absolutely you do. Love your place, truly. Not too "central" for many teams is the only reason you were excluded.

  34. Doesn’t Indiana already do this? I feel like our Trainer takes wet bulb to determine if we need to adjust practice…I don’t think this is uncommon

  35. Knowing the Memorial faithful as I do, trying to prevent them from tailgating would backfire. They’d respond by showing up in bigger numbers with more grills, more beer, and bigger speakers. Besides, what’s the motivation to stop it? It isn’t hurting anybody. Is it a liability thing? Because I can’t imagine the schools would have any. Is it the belief that it sends a bad message to kids? Because lots of kids go to college games, too. Tailgating and football were made for each other. Stop trying to prevent other people from having a good time…as long as it stays civil and people don’t get out of hand and clean up after themselves.

  38. Thank you. I could have worked a 5 game set on Saturday for 6th graders (they're still looking). But instead I went for the Unified. Granted starting out on both Unified and regular on my first year with first game being one and second game being another is yet another way to confuse me. My son was a Unified partner and I like working with the crowd.
