  1. If you think your offense had trouble getting time on the field last Friday...you ain't seen nothing yet.

  2. Parents want their kids running 4/5-wide spread because that's what they see on Saturdays and it's "more exciting." I remember Mt. Vernon running the Wing-T in the Doug Peacock days, winning a *ton*, and parents (especially the parents of QBs and WRs) nonstop kvetching from the stands because they "didn't pass enough." Same thing with another Wing-T program in the area in my newspaper days. So, they went spread one year and went 1-9 ... then went back to the Wing-T and started winning games again. Kokomo - same thing. Ran the double-wing "phone booth" offense with Brett Colby. He retires, they go to a spread attack, get pummeled for a few years, hire Austin Colby and go back to the "phone booth" and they're a state contender again. Bottom-line, old-school football does work - and can even mask a talent deficiency - but you have to have people committed to it. But it's not flashy, and parents feel like their kids are losing "college opportunities" if they're not running a "modern" offense. It's also hella hard to win in the HCC, which is probably the deepest conference in the state right now. You might be the 10th best team in the state and go 3-6.

  3. Absolutely a first-class guy. He coached up here in Northern Indiana for years, and he's legitimately one of the nicest guys in the business. Best of wishes to him.

  4. I will always respect Coach Sharpe in the decision he makes. Having the tragic loss he wants to make sure he spends as much time with his family as he can and if somethings pulls from that he will step away. To me he has decided to do what is best for Noblesville as well as himself. He can't give the time needed to the full program of Noblesville because it would take him away from his family which is important to him. So in stepping away it is a win/win situation. Noblesville can search for a coach that can put the time into the youth league as well as the High School and he is able to spend time with his family who is still dealing everyday with a tragic loss. Much love and admiration to Coach Dave Sharpe and I hope he achieves everything he wants in his and his families future!

  6. We’ve done pretty well (3 pages worth) of avoiding turning this into a “PAC vs SIAC” thing…BUT - you might want to take off your SIAC colored glasses a bit with comparing the 3rd place SIAC team to a team whose only losses the last 2 years are to Chatard, and some Kentucky state champs. If we’re comparing- I’d say a Memorial/GS comparison (we played them both) is more relatable than a Castle/HH.

  7. I've been saying the last few years that you're one of the least biased posters on the forum. That stock is going downhill fast. Transitive property only seems to make sense when it favors Indy. What you're telling me is that Snider would beat HSE this year and Ben Davis last year? C'mon Temp. You even mentioned earlier in the year that Snider's best shot at beating WC was in Week 1, given that WC would improve throughout the season. Is Carroll no better now than they were in Week 1? Based on your logic, I'm very close to anointing Snider as the mythical all around champion of 2023 if you want to keep playing this game.

  8. C’mon. Just look at how both matched up against HSE.

  9. I’m expecting a lot of running from HH tomorrow night…..while I will be running to the concessions.

  13. Three losses should be an automatic disqualifier.

  14. Power T run heavy offense. Probably about 5 passes per game.

  16. Same with the Seegers and RP only has 3 that truly play. All three should be better next year and at the top of the conference

  18. Not even close. I still think they fell asleep on the bus on their way to play a winless team. They turned around and outplayed Carmel, supposedly the best team in the state that year, for an entire half the following week without their best offensive player. So no, not conceding :). Thank you for remembering :).

  19. To clarify, I was referring to community support for the Miller's athletic program. Noblesville is a great community for HS sports.

  20. Stinky, Stink, Stink 1.2..3.. Don't get confused K9 we're talking about two different things!!! Coach seems to be reminding his team who won and broke Stink Towns Sectional winning streak. Although Stink did think K9 would like that pic, as a reminder who the real Dawgs are, and not this class as he so speaks!

  21. The article and Coach Sharpe's comments would suggest otherwise??

  22. The defense Elkhart had was very good, certainly one of the better ones Snider played against this year. Their offense was not very good and is what was holding them back from a deeper run in the playoffs

  23. Coach Sharpe is a stand up quality guy. Sorry to see he wasn't able to have more success on the field. I know he brought in a number of assistants that were old Jimtown connections. This will be a highly sought after job that plays in a very competitive conference.

  25. A couple of South Bend schools are inflating that average points per game. Not saying they stink at all. Never said that actually. Just stated they're offensively challenged.

  26. I agree , 5A #1 Concord Struggled with Elkhart and barely escaped .

  27. I think this is going to be a shootout with some big plays that get away from the other on both sides. Dramatic end, got to go with my Patriots. Payne kicks a FG to win 24-21.

  28. That’s not entirely true. They left a conference with schools their size to come back to the WRC. I believe they were in the WIC I think.

  32. tango's official picks: North @ Castle. North beat a cupcake last week, while Castle had a chippy game against a solid Floyd Central. The only team wearing green that beats Castle this year is Memorial in Wk. 9. Castle 28-14 over the Huskies. Boonville @ Reitz. I really thought Reitz would have its annual #discline implosion last week at Jasper, but they held it together to beat the JCats pretty easily. Boonville doesn't have the dogs to beat a now healthy Reitz. Panthers 35-13 over the Pioneers. Memorial @ Heritage Hills. As we know, only things good that come from Heritage Hills are the Legend, the Voyage and free refills. This game has the makings of a classic between two tradition-rich programs that used to see each other an an almost annual basis. Not so much the last few years. I have to skip being with my Tiger loved ones in Lincoln City and will instead spend the night glued to the iPad at Janko's in B-town with my dependents. Tigers 34-31 over the Patriots.

  33. LaVille at North Judson - I was surprised LaVille kept this game as close as they did in week 2. The Lancers didn't look that good to me in their week 1 matchup with Triton. This time around I expect Judson to be more dominant. Running clock in the 2nd half. Blue Jays 49-7 Taylor at Pioneer - This appears to be speed vs. speed. Knowing Pioneer, I just don't see how Taylor will be able to stop the Panther's machine-like offense. It could be a shoot-out! But I think Pioneer wins this one comfortably. Panthers 42-21 Triton at North Miami - Triton was definitely distracted in the first matchup 3 weeks ago. I think they're focused again and I expect this game to be a battle from the opening kick. Both teams are coming in confident and ready to prove that they are the best team in Sectional 43. I'm taking Triton by 2 scores in the rematch. Trojans 28-14

  35. Laville at North Judson: The metal/rock music at Liberty Field plus the team in the home locker room are too much for the Lancers. 41-14 Blue Jays Taylor at Pioneer: Taylor has come on strong in the last few weeks. However, Pioneer is clicking and focused. Running clock sometime in the 4th Q. 49-13 Panthers Triton at North Miami: Both teams are fired up for a rematch. Both fan bases are fired up for ham salad! Last time, North Miami had their way with the Trojan defense for the first 30 min. Trojan defense had their way with the North Miami offense the last 18. Triton will have had 3 weeks to prepare by 7pm on Friday. This one comes down to situational football (3rd/4th down and redzone conversions mainly). If North Miami can take away Triton's big plays from last time, I think they win. If Triton has been able to put in some wrinkles, they will be tough to tangle with. Always hard to beat a good team twice. Unfortunate that someone has to lose this one. I'll go with the home team. 27-21 Fightin' Ham Salad Sandwiches I think it's pretty cool that there's a strong possibility of 3 HNAC schools representing the final 4 in 1A north.

  38. Happy Election Day! Two big fights this week Bulldogs vs Tigers and Trump vs Kamala... Many similarities between the two. The "Sleepy" Joe-Joe's decided to step down and give the Bulldogs a fraudulent run at the sectional championship. The dogs keep making campaign promises of a new and improved team fresh from injury, but time will tell if they will also flee back to Kansas... Neither Kamala or the Dogs can protect these borders huh? Just like Trump is standing against rising inflation rates. The Tigers are the last ones standing in the fight against the inflation of K9's ego! This race won't nearly reach 270 but I'll take the: Stinktown Statesmen: 35 B'ville Border Tsar Bureaucrats: 14
