Overall in high school football I guess people feel better losing in an offense they see on TV.

Johnson is still running it well at Logansport. Pioneer is still a well oiled machine with the Wing T Lewis Cass is also a school that has seen a lot of success with this offense... Cass County is Wing T country.

CONGRATULATIONS Patriots! The Patriot Defense was the difference as they were able to stop the Tigers 2x inside the 10 yd line. Fingers crossed for a long drive to Indy over Thanksgiving break for HH faithful.

Congratulations to Brownsburg. I was on PA tonight, and we all said that BD had to keep its foot on the gas because we knew it wasn't over. We'd all seen too many Brownsburg/BD games where it was BD making the hair-on-fire comeback. The Bulldogs did it tonight. They'll have their hands full with Lawrence North next week. Should be a great one. Also, as a side note, I was very prominently dressed in BD garb. I made sure to congratulate every Brownsburg player I saw leaving, and one young man even stopped to thank the man holding the gate for them. All the kids were very classy. Extremely impressive impression from me. They weren't going crazy or acting like they'd just won the State Championship. They celebrated. Their fans were amazing, and they deserved the title in the end.

Carroll 21 Snider 10. Snider made a game of it in the 2nd half, but too many turnovers and dumb penalties in both halves really killed any chance of a Snider upset.

Weird game. Sloppy game, one I’m sure both coaches will lose sleep over when they see the tape. LN won 24-7, surviving three first half INT’s. Cathedral threw a pick 6 near the end of the 2H and lost their QB shortly after to injury and that effectively ended the game. LN scored on a short field to start the 2H and then returned a fumble for a TD on the ensuing drive. Pretty darn impressive to win convincingly as they did given the amount of turnovers and penalties. They clean that up, they are the favorites going forward. Future is bright for Cathedral. Young team that returns a ton next year to go along with a freshman class that might be one of the best to come through when all said and done.

Give me a break. This Memorial talking point that I see pop up from other sources as well is absolutely ridiculous. I KNOW how it would have turned out for us. It’s a statement that takes you deep into the psyche of a P/P sports parent, lamenting at tailgates about where they “should’ve” been. Someday this crap will get fixed….you are not where you belong. The fact you guys even discuss it is so very telling. If Memorial P/Ps properly, most years they shouldn’t have trouble with public’s in a corn field or in a state forest. But every few years….look out. Even disadvantaged with students body’s that include 25% plus FAL kids and substantial special needs programs that count toward enrollment…somehow…by the grace of God, these meager public programs are able to competes with the supreme homogeneity of their misclassified quasi P/P rivals. All that said I’ll say a little prayer tonight for the recent success the IHSAA has gifted us poor little rural public’s.

With Sturgill at QB for Fishers I would keep Fishers above Carroll. Without Sturgill I would place Carroll ahead. Their back-up has played solid, but I feel Sturgill brings a lot more to their offense with his mobility along with throwing the ball. He got knocked out with just over 6 minutes in the 4th qtr with a 27-24 lead in a Week 5 31-30 loss to Brownsburg. He was 17 of 29 for 277 yds 1 TD 0 Int, and had 8 carries for 40 yds 1 TD before being injured. Not sure if he will be back for the Tigers this year, but with him they are a very solid team.

The Irish offense gave LN 14 points and only scored 7, a nice run by senior RB Jalen Bonds with about 20 seconds left in the game. The Irish defense only allowed 10 points but the game was basically over at halftime, even though LN was only up 7-0. Irish QB Cameron Koers left the game shortly before the end of the first half after throwing a pick six. I'm not so sure he wasn't injured earlier in the game because his throws were erratic much of the first half, which is unusual for him. The Irish had a very good season considering the youth on the team. They were beaten badly only twice this season, against Brownsburg and Lawrence North. They had two other last minute loses to Cincinnati St. Xavier and Warren Central. They finished 6-4 and at last Sagarin they had the 9th toughest schedule in the states, and that doesn't include the loss to St. X. I'm 81 years old but I sure hope I'm still able to get to the games next season to watch this team grow. The Irish freshman team was undefeated, and a lot of young players got a lot of experience this season at the varsity level. Hats off to the Wildcats! They can win it all! Their game next week will be a doozy against Brownsburg.

I felt like Ben Davis had gone as far as they could go, so when they were up 35-7, I was pleasantly surprised. I picked them, but I knew it was a longshot. They kind of let off the gas and then it just snowballed. Brownsburg is really capable of making big snowballs if you let them, and the Giants were just as discombobulated in the second half as they were all season. Can't let a team like Brownsburg have any oxygen when you have them down.

Memorial was absolutely fortunate to have been in 4A for awhile. Being in the same sectional as HH and Gibson is a meat grinder. That's not a PP/public school comment, just a comment on how good Gibson and Heritage Hills have been. These two schools have elite programs that I don't think get enough recognition across the state.

After this man handling of Memorial, I have to agree.

Maybe the state championship was played in the 1st round of sectionals. 🤷‍♂️ We will have to ask the HH guys but how interesting would a Memorial GS game have been? I guess Memorial was fortunate being in that 4A sectional for a while. Would have been tough for them to get out of the SWI 3A sectional.

Can't believe Brownsburg came back to beat Ben Davis. Major credit to those kids for not quitting and fighting back to win that game. Maybe this game can be a turning point for Brownsburg's fortunes in the playoffs.

Perfect scenario comes true. Unless Carroll upsets Crown Point on the road, Westfield (assuming they get by Fishers) will be hosting CP in Semistate

This might not age well but...... Chesterton over Valpo. Regular season game came down to OT and a philly-special 2pt conversion to win it. Chesterton RB didn't play last week vs Michigan City, if he's back this has potential.

Wing-T means a lot of things to a lot of people. Johnson and Clay Mannering definitely keep the Scott Mannering double wing Wing-T alive and well. Many teams are also doing lots of Gun-T or shotgun Wing T (billion ways to skin a cat) or at least mixing lots of Wing-T elements into spread running games. It is a great offense to watch and useful/applicable in many ways to this day.

It is now not yet 9:00am and I have been at work for 2.5 hours and have been asked 972 times, "are we winning tonight?" My answer is now a standard, "if we capitalize on a rare Memorial mistake and we play a perfect game, yes, we win by a score."

Not saying I don't like polls, I enjoy them as well, they are fun. Just saying they are for pretend. Take Sagarin for example, a fun poll for sure. Columbia City was a 9 point favorite over Dwenger before the Saints manhandled them by 37pts. You just have to take these "fun" polls for what they're worth.

Although very possible, this seems like you are being a little over the top calling them posers. Agree, they are a legit team and quickly becoming a Northern power for years to come. They have the coaching staff, facilities, population growth, administrative and community support.

Polls and forums keep us talking high school football during the week, I enjoy the dialog and hope to be driving home to a +28 point CP win. Go Dogs!!

Crown Point is already legit, they proved that last season. Actions speak louder than words. The real work is done o the field. Polls are just for pretend.

An argument can be made that the 4A sectional Memorial played in was not as difficult as 3A...meaning, Memorial may in fact not even gotten out of Sectional had they been down in class. No way to know obviously...just pointing out that fact We are on the same side on this 32 ....but we (SR) still live in different worlds (than GS). Your point still remains - not ALL enrollments are created equal.

I enjoyed this with quite a belly laugh, with of course, a toothless grin and one of my overall straps undone (and shirtless). It is frustrating, it was frustrating last year at state and 2019 at state. Hopefully this may be the year that we can overcome all that and pull it off.

Chatard hasn't been a problem for us. 2008, 2009, or 2018. It's a mentality thing...

Parents want their kids running 4/5-wide spread because that's what they see on Saturdays and it's "more exciting." I remember Mt. Vernon running the Wing-T in the Doug Peacock days, winning a *ton*, and parents (especially the parents of QBs and WRs) nonstop kvetching from the stands because they "didn't pass enough." Same thing with another Wing-T program in the area in my newspaper days. So, they went spread one year and went 1-9 ... then went back to the Wing-T and started winning games again. Kokomo - same thing. Ran the double-wing "phone booth" offense with Brett Colby. He retires, they go to a spread attack, get pummeled for a few years, hire Austin Colby and go back to the "phone booth" and they're a state contender again. Bottom-line, old-school football does work - and can even mask a talent deficiency - but you have to have people committed to it. But it's not flashy, and parents feel like their kids are losing "college opportunities" if they're not running a "modern" offense. It's also hella hard to win in the HCC, which is probably the deepest conference in the state right now. You might be the 10th best team in the state and go 3-6.

HH uses HUDL, but we use SRN and I understand they will be there with the crew, so "our" broadcast with be via SRN who will have it linked to ihsaatv.org.
